The only diamond aspect of this hotel is the staff. All we encountered were courteous, helpful and professional. The rooms are nice and housekeeping excellent but the décor, furniture, curtains and floor coverings all need a lot of TLC or replaced. We had dinner on two occasions and while the portions were sufficient the main course presentation was nil. Potatoes were not peeled but should have had the many "eyes" removed. The roast potatoes were the same as boiled in finish. Cauliflower with cheese sauce was cauliflower that could only be cut by "sawing" the stalks and the cheese sauce was a mere partial covering of grated cheese. Won't be back.

Lovely hotel and superior room was large and comfortable. Staff were so nice friendly and helpful.
We stayed 3 nights and hoped to have dinner each night. Our first night eating was a disaster we were in lounge as two coach parties were in dining room . Ordered at 7.15 pm and 3 to 4 minutes later my haddock risotto was in front of me a disgusting lump of grey rice with some haddock through it. It was luke warm my husband's venison casserole was OK but poor presentation. We were out dining room at 7.40.
The bar manager was very kind and understanding and did take the food off our bill. The other two nights we ate at the other hotel on main street which had great choice and excellent food. We do a trip away every few weeks and other hotels have been able to deal with coach parties as well as other guests but this one struggles. Actually when we were eating at the other hotel we spoke to other people who had similar experience to us . Such a shame .
Thank you to the lovely staff

We have just returned from a very enjoyable break with Cairngorm Travel, staying at the Duke of Gordon Hotel. The Hotel Manager was there to greet us on arrival and he and some of the staff were there to wave us off when we left. Fortunately we had good weather, which of course all added to the enjoyment. It's true that the hotel is a little tired but we were very pleased with our spacious room which was cleaned every day. The breakfast was very good and generally, so was the evening meal, with plenty of choices. It was great on the last night when a young man piper led us in for our final evening meal. It would have been good if there had been a ceilidh afterwards in the ballroom, to round off the evening.|The hotel is very near to the train station, and we took a trip to Perth on the first day, which we enjoyed immensely. On the 2 other days, we went on the trips which were both very good. Laco, our driver, was a star, and went that extra mile to provide a good holiday experience.

We did an overnight stop in our motorhome. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Out of courtesy we always eat in the stopover. Very disappointing bar meal, only three options. The fish curry was tasteless with prawn crackers posing as poppadoms! The steak pie was a reasonable beef stew with a pastry hat (not a pie!) and apparently they couldn't offer chips instead of mash as they didn't have any!? Not worth the £18 per meal. For such an up market hotel, not acceptable.

Out first room we were given was spacious and looked lovely, but there was a big hole in the mattress. The second room was smaller which was fine but the bathroom was covered in black mould. Dinner and breakfast was a disaster. Dinner was tasteless and soggy , with limp brown salad. Nobody explained how we order drinks . Breakfast, we showed up at 8.45 there was no eggs, no vegetarian cooked option, several empty hot plates. I appreciate not everywhere can cater to allergies or intolerances, so they no alternative milk options. I had toast for breakfast, the fruit was rotten. What I enjoyed was the nearby scenery , the receptionist was lovely. One man who was waiting staff was quite lacking , sat us at a table with no cutlery or crockery didn't seem to want to be there. Piper at night was a suprise. Overall it was ok but food was truly awful.

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights from 18/01/25. My room was lovely and quiet. Staff were all brilliant always smiling which I feel shows they are looked after. Enjoyed all the meals and thought it was great value for the money I had paid. Enjoyed dancing every night. Booked to go again in June and really looking forward to another good break with Cairngorm.
