Great base for our walk in Feshie. Fiona is so welcoming and relaxed, the perfect host. After long days heavy duty walking, we were rejuvenated by the brilliant views from the cozy patio, watching the sun sink over the hill. The cottage is a great base for enjoying the Cairngorms, really comfortable and cosy. Well definitely be back. Husband recommends the Duke for a beer (try the Cairngorm Stag) and wife loved dinner at The Star Hotel.

We were delighted with our private cottage here which had everything we needed while we explored the area on daily road bike trips. It is an ideal location if you plan to bike to Aviemore or Cairngorm Mountain as it’s situated in a beautiful low-traffic road. A number of bikepackers have stayed here when wanting a break from camping out. The dramatic Ruthven Barracks, the ruins of a stone fort built in the 1700s on the site of a medieval castle, is well worth a short 450m walk and visit. The cottage had a well-equipped kitchen and our hosts Fiona and Colin who live next door welcomed us with milk, bread butter and jam so we were in good shape for our first breakfast. The bedroom has a full bed plus bunk beds, so it is ideal for either a couple or a family with one or two children. The Wifi connection was spotty in the cottage but better outside and Colin was working on a Wifi booster while we were there, but if you require strong Wifi and/or a smart TV, this cottage probably won’t work for you. The quaint town of Kingussie is just 1.7 km away and has a grocery store, a laundromat, cafes, two bike shops, two takeaway restaurants and a number of hotels and fine dining restaurants including an excellent Indian restaurant, Royal Tandoori. We really enjoyed our relaxing stay here and the location which really was better for our needs than being in busier Aviemore.

Stayed in Creag Bheag Cottage for a week and wishing we stayed there longer!! A breathtakingly beautiful location, with mountains and nature reserves just on the doorstep. Cottage was very homely, well looked after and made the holiday even cosier - so nice to come back to relax in after a long day of walking, we were even calling it 'home' by the end of the week! Many thanks to Fiona and Colin for making the stay even more memorable, with their wonderful hospitality and kindness - we were spoilt with gifts of delicious, homemade sweet treats. Cannot wait to return, and would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

We stayed in a beautiful cottage called Creagh Dhubh. This stunning gem in the most peaceful but well placed setting was such a special place to find. The cottage itself is an immaculate, stone, whitewashed cottage which is beautifully appointed to take into account your every need. Warm and cosy, with a variety of wildlife which visits your garden to say hello. This cottage is run by Fiona and Colin who anticipate your needs and are always available for assistance, in fact they go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Nothing is too much trouble for these fabulous hosts and their hospitality is the best we have ever experienced in the Highlands after visiting for the last 22 years. Top rated spot for a guaranteed wonderful holiday with stunning views, beautiful cottage, wonderful hosts and excellent value for money. Well worth a visit.

We've been coming for 8 years so this was yet another visit to our established favourite place in Scotland, our favourite cottage, Creagh Dhubh at Rughven House in Kingussie. ||Fiona and Colin are always so helpful and friendly and maintain the cottage in immaculate and sparkling clean condition. Not only this, Fiona kindly cooked us a curry for when we arrived and shared some of Colin's home made blackcurrant jam and cider with us - wonderful.||The cottage is well equipped, warm and cosy, with lots of birdlife in the garden, during this visit we even saw a male hen harrier. ||We highly recommend! πŸ™‚
