The Gatehouse at Innes House.

We stayed at The Gatehouse for a weeks holiday in May and celebrated at Innes House for a wedding over the following weekend. Having just been fully renovated, we were the first guests to stay at The Gatehouse which is situated only a very short walk from the main house. The Gatehouse itself is a beautifully restored and renovated building and one of the best properties we have stayed in over our trip throughout Scotland.

Booking the property was very easy with Jayne, and the self check-in on arrival made things very easy. The Gatehouse has been finished to a very high standard, beautifully decorated and designed inside. There is also a boot / utility room for dogs to stay with a large fenced in garden. We arrived with two medium sized dogs and we pleased to find a dog bed, water bowl and outside tap.

The kitchen has a Aga range cooker and is equipped with all necessary kitchen utensils for a weeks holiday. There is a charcoal BBQ and outside seating area.

The main bathroom is large and open. The roll top bath was very much appreciated and the shower has good pressure. Towels were supplied with all necessary bathroom extras.

The house has one main bedroom with a smaller single or children's room. The bedding was of very good quality and the beds were comfortable. The seating area in the turret was a nice added feature and although you cannot stand in it, we enjoyed a glass of wine and admired the views through the 360 degree viewing windows.

There are extensive walks from the property. Outside the main gate, you can walk to the beach. Its about a 2 mile walk there and back. A shorter walk can be made to the edge of the disused airport. We saw dear, many pheasants!, hears and many other species of birds all within a few hundred meters of the house.

With its own private parking, the house is in a quiet location and with only very light traffic passing occasionally. The forest was in the process of being logged whilst we were there, so some areas were not accessible, however the estate was so vast that this did not affect our stay. The grounds of Innes House are very well presented and you may see the odd robotic lawn mower keeping the grass at its best.

Staying at the house was useful for a wedding at the main house. We were travelling with two dogs and a 11month old baby so having the extra room at the Gatehouse made our stay easy, relaxed and very enjoyable.

Overall we cannot rate the Gatehouse anything other than outstanding. Certainly one of the best holiday properties we have stayed in and we hope to return again.

Weddings and other events can be held in style at Innes House. I went as a part of the Moray Days Open celebration, where companies that are normally closed to the public open up.
Over the weekend, a craft fair featured a range of goods, including key rings, apparel, beer, and even moonshine.
There were food trucks parked at the front door, but regrettably they were all cash-only establishments, so I was unable to try any of them that day because I had not anticipated this.
The gardens appear beautiful in pictures and would be a lovely setting for an outdoor wedding or event.
A must-go to if you're organising a wedding or an event and want something opulent.

Great tour with the lovely Kirsty showing us the amazing history, books, family history (and a few amazing signatures in the guest book).
Thoroughly enjoyed it all.

We attended a wedding here and gosh, what a lovely place. The staff were so pleasant and attentive, and nothing was too much bother.

The grounds are fantastic, but watch out for those robot grass mowers!
