I chose the Birdwood Villa Farm B&B for two reasons. First that they accepted dogs and secondly for the location.||Just 6 miles West of Gloucester on the A40 and not far from the Forest of Dean, which made it ideal for sightseeing.||I booked at short notice and was told that there was only a small double available, in fact the room was of a decent size with a large bathroom, and all of the bedding was clean and fresh, and the room had views over the fields. A very short walk from the B&B was the Gloucestershire walkway, which was ideal for letting my dogs out for a run before the evening.||Breakfast was fine and I would definitely use again.

Room very clean and good firm bed. Pleasant chatty couple not in the first flush of youth though, which also sums up this B and B Bathroom large and unheated. Radiators, plumbing and electrics ancient, Decor and bed linen about 30 years out of date but well maintained. Place itself is large sprawling unattractive mixture of house, sheds, garages etc.close by main road. Breakfast restricted eg either beans or bacon or eggs on toast but not everything. Both our poached eggs were hard and mine arrived before I had finished my cereal. £38 for a single room and breakfast -is that value for money ?

Very poor value for money. We had unwisely booked for two nights and we regretted it. Having a dog we paid £85 per night for a mean-spirited/hard-nosed and dowdy place. The bathroom was very small, the bottom of the door of the cramped shower was black due to lack of proper cleaning. I agree with what has been said about the breakfast in general and the hard poached egg in particular; I was told that soft-yoked poached eggs make some people sick. I did feel it worth pointing out that it is sensible to find out if clients have special needs rather than assuming it. We wondered if the English Tourist Board is giving stars to such a place for people to have a chance to see how bad some B&B could be decades ago. We have learnt a lesson: go to plaes that have a good number of reviews.

Stayed for one night as we had two dog dogs on way to another place. most reviews are spot on mature woman running it very nice but the place is dirty. coBwebs everywhere from porch to the bedroom. bathroom suite cramped and dirty. Breafast Was plenty but do not trust how long the cereal had been there and the tomato sauce bottle was disguting and I don't think in date. We left asap in the morning crazy price and rating for this place. AVOID

After spending a week in newquay decided to break the journey home with a two night stay at this working farm B&B just outside gloucester.||It is the second time we have done this and the Birdwood just gets better.||The lady who runs it is called Marilyn her husband is around but as i said it is a working farm complete with little shop selling eggs pots ect.||The rooms are spaciouse and he decore is of an very high standard spotless and with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and the extensive garden comlete with lawns and seating which can be used and sat in by guests.||the breakfast is simply devine the usual juice and cereal followed by well as you can imagine being a farmers wifea very large english cooked breakfast that really sets you up for the day.||there are alternatives to this i your appetite is smaller which even includes herring. beans on toast ect ect.||A superb location. accomodation and food and base from which to explore gloucester the surround area or a bit further bath for example only an hour away

Stopped off for quick lunch. Dated and tired decor, limited menu. Chose a spicy chicken and bacon wrap. Very strange, filling arrived in a seperate bowl, very sloppy and not sure where the bacon was. Also no flavour considering it was meant to be spicy. Became a messy and unsucessful wrap as the whole wrap fell apart. Gave up and ate the chips which were delicious. The 'slop' would have been better suited with rice or mashed potatoes.

stayed here for a couple of nights, all though service was pretty good, the rooms really aren't clean, cobwebs everywhere, dead insects behind bathroom door (multiple days).||Also cereal boxes where dirty, haven't seen a dishwasher in quit a bit I think.||||Other then that, friendly people, breakfast was good, and good size rooms.||||allthough close to main rode, very little roadnoise.
