What a combination - an ultra modern house set in the hills overlooking Moniaive with glorious views, made and furnished with reclaimed materials, powered by sun, wind and the heat of the earth, food sourced locally. Add to that a "chalet host", currently Greg, providing excellent breakfasts and dinners as well as useful hints and tips for exploring the area and generally a friendly presence, and you have all that you need for a relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of every day. And Dumfries and Galloway is a beautiful and interesting place to visit - beaches, hills, castles, all that border history.

We first of all came to Three Glens for two nights in October on a Secret Escapes special offer and liked it so much we came back again for three nights. This fabulous eco lodge is set at the top of a hill in glorious isolation above the village of Moniaive, with sheep grazing below and wonderful views all around. We stayed in the luxurious master bedroom and relished the peace and isolation as well as the hospitality of Greg, the Chef Manager. We were blessed with early summer weather, so explored the coast during the day and then came back to enjoy the sunshine with an aperitif on the spacious deck before tucking into one of Greg's gorgeous three course dinners with wine. Three Glens is very, very special and just can't be bettered.

An amazing eco house set in the hillside overlooking the village with glorious views furnished to a high standard using reclaimed materials where appropriate.The lounge area has huge picture windows where you can sit and watch the sunset and birds and wildlife - no need for a tv!||On arrival we were given a warm welcome from Julie and Steve who made us feel at home throughout our short stay.Julie cooked really good meals using the farm's produce and meat- first class cuisine- her lemon pannacotta was the best I've ever tasted.The wine was excellent too.||We had the master suite with amazing views wish we could have stayed longer. I would have no hesitation in recommending this special place for a wonderful stay away from it all.

As it was our thirtieth wedding anniversary we booked a luxurious, quiet, romantic getaway with food provided. The food was wonderful and the place was extremely peaceful. However it wasn't romantic.|It loses a star as we didn't realise that we would be sharing the house with Nina, our cook. She was lovely, and very good company but we thought we would have the place to ourselves for some of the time. The open plan setup meant we were always aware of our food being prepared by someone at the other end of the room. For a bigger party this may have been less noticeable.|We didn't realise that we were meant to be out all day. Nina recommended a wonderful walk and the weather was amazing but for the amount we paid, staying in should be an option.|Still it's given our friends a good laugh as we described our romantic wedding anniversary treat... with a complete stranger! Next time we will read the information that goes with the photos!

This place will sleep six but we were there on our own. Really quiet and relaxing. Bit middle of nowhere, drive to Moniaive if you need anything. We were excellently looked after by Maureen who cooks breakfast and dinner. Choice of breakfasts, dinner is three course no menu. Tell her if there is anything you don't eat. All food was first class. House is interesting "Grand Design" style. Views are fab. Upcycled bathroom ware is a novelty. They stopped making loos like these in 1923 because they weren't very good. They still aren't. Minor detail, don't let it put you off. Keep trying. There is loads of space everything is very relaxed, views are perfect and the area is great. Book in when there's a festival on in Moniaive, there seems to be one every month. Great walking area.

A little isolated but reasonably accessible, this place is a must for someone looking for something different.||For those who like to kiss their car goodnight, the first bit of the track leading up to the house may make you wince but that is the only negative point I will make.||The house is an environmentalists dream with so much reclaimed and recycled material but it has a luxurious feel.||It is set high up on a hill side with glorious views of the glens and the lovely village of Moniaive. Open the large glass sliding doors with the touch of a button and just sit out on the deck with your glass of wine and soak up the tranquility.||Currently, a New Zealander called Greg manages the house for a local farmer and he sees to your every need. He is a great cook and holds an interesting conversation.||As well as your spacious, clean and beautifully presented en-suite bedroom with all the toiletries you could wish for, you have the run of the rest of the house.||As you lie back in your large comfortable bed at night, the silence is amazing.||You will not be disappointed. ||Various castles, gardens, and lochs are within easy reach and the Solway Firth is not too far away and has an interesting Heritage Trail.

Having just returned from a short stay in Three Glens House, I can definitely confirm the accuracy of the previous glowing reviews. It is the perfect place to experience all that the area has to offer. Many thanks to Neil and Mary who have created a stunning space and were a pleasure to deal with and also to Maureen who was really kind and welcoming (and is an excellent cook!). Look forward to hopefully visiting again!

Things have already been said about this place, so there is little to add. It is in a stunning location, in the middle of fields overlooking villages, and everything you need for a comfortable stay is there. We stayed midweek for two nights, and were there alone (apart from Maureen, our host and chef for the stay).|There is nothing to criticise about this place. Every piece of furnishing has been thought of, and to very high quality. |There are a few things to consider.....|You will be sharing the home with your host. The food is delicious and plentiful, and it's prepared by the live in host. You can have privacy in your own beautiful room, but the communal areas are communal!|There is not much for kids, other than TV and the gardens.....it's pretty much geared for adults.|I'd go back tomorrow, but you have to pay for quality, so it'll be a while before I can afford a well deserved break again.|
