Very surreal experience. The chicken and waffles sounded good, and when told all the options that come with it, it seemed good value. It didn't however mention on the menu it was all on top of each other. So it was chicken and waffle topped with hollandaise, bluecheese Slaw, bacon a fried egg, jalapeños. It all curdled into a sickly soggy plate. I'd recommend serving them on the side and letting the customer choose what they want, as the combination of all together was awful. The chocolate dessert after was also hard to get your head around, chocolate Fondant, it was just a dry sponge so clearly overcooked I assume with large chunks of honeycomb( very large hard to bite chunks) then a chocolate ganache type side ( which was inedibly salty.) When we complained the chef had told the waitress to reply "its miso chocolate. Its supposed to be salty"
1. If you are going to add miso atleast write it on the menu
2. It tasted awful so I'd recomend trying it before serving it, yes miso Is salty but I'd be embarrassed to have served that. Something clearly went wring.
The crumble was burnt on top but I didn't mention it as the chef was clearly in one of those moods so would probably reply the burnt topping was a charcoal feature.
Lovely restaurant and great staff but the chef and kitchen need to try harder. Get the basics right before you make salmon ice cream, miso chocolate sauce and finally a hollandaise/bluecheese/egg jalapeño waffle. Having the chef in charge that evening wasn't a great look as their attitude was awful. Mistakes get made so I don't think the food is awful normally i assume. The dishes described were truly horrible. So atleast put your hands up and say its a mistake. Not double down and say its supposed to be like that. I mean cmon, imagine eating hollandaise, blue cheese, maple, jalapeños bacon and egg together with chicken and waffles. Surely someone should say you've gone too far

Food was so good- really tasty and reasonable price. Booking advisable on busy weekends. Service was great, nice and homely. Really impressed. Nothing too fancy but the food was really good! Varied menu to suit all. Beat chocolate fondant I’ve had in a restaurant as most are usually reheated pre made stuff. Yum! So good I forgot to take a pic of it. Kudos to the chefs!

We stop in Kelso every year and have been going to The Cobbles for a long time. This time we got the nachos, fried chicken and waffles, and the best fish n chips in the boarders. Always look forward to eating this delicious food and drink.

I am very pleasantly surprised by this place. The staff is very friendly, the food is delicious and fresh. You can also visit this place with your dog and they will give it water and a bowl for food. It is very nice of them to show such care. Also the waffles in the chicken dish were incredible.

It's been a while since we ate at Cobbles. Ate in the bar as its dog friendly. Very friendly service and great Tempest brewery beers. For me, a measure of pub food is the chicken burger - will it be succulent or like a rubber duck? This one was perfectly succulent, but I was as impressed by the little dressings applied to the skinny fries. Quite different, all very tasty. Wife ordered fish & chips.....fish locally is always super fresh given the location, but she too thought the dressings and sauces were both different & delightful. So a very pleasant lunch experience.

Visited in 2021 and throughly enjoyed the experience. Back in Kelso this weekend and therefore booked a table for a lunch on Saturday. Making the reservation was quick and easy and when we turned up a little early for the booking, staff were helpful and efficient and made our table available quickly.
Plenty of choice on the menu for everyone and all at extremely reasonable prices. All dishes for our party (6 starters/6 mains) were beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked.
We were all delighted with our lunch - the food and the service - and are very happy to recommend this lovely little bistro to others

Came there 2 times, very kind staff and arranged for a table even in a busy setting (second time during the lunch). The first time my wife had curry chicken and the curry was one of the best she ever had. Overall, good price/quality ratio and the food is good.

Gorgeous food. We had Cullen skink soup and Whitebait, followed by Chickpea and spinach curry and Beef Lasagne. Great service, and relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend a visit. Thanks to the team.
