We booked to stay here for two nights but decided to leave after one as we were disappointed. For the price we paid (£140 per night), we expected a higher standard and left feeling quite let down.

The rooms were extremely small, lacked basic amenities like an iron and hair dryer, and were generally in need of an update. To make matters worse, we were woken up and kept awake for hours by a group of noisy guests outside, so we had a terrible night’s sleep. The food was just average. Also parking is limited and we had to park and pay in a local carpark. Again, not something you expect at £140 a night.

On a more positive note, the wait staff were absolutely lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and the location next to the park and within walking distance of the town centre was perfect.

Overall, it’s a shame - the setting and staff have so much potential, but the accommodation and atmosphere itself really let the experience down.

A welcome return visit. Only a one night stay, booked just a few days in advance. Very comfortable room, with large double bed, firm enough for a good night's sleep. Hanging space, shelves and a couple of drawers for clothes if needed. Large wetroom en suite, as we are pensioners with health concerns, so chose this as ground floor and ease of use. A very good breakfast, self serve in the morning, seated in the conservatory area with garden view.

I took a trip to the lovely Market Town of Abingdon an Saturday 1st Nov to attend a friends family gathering. I have been to 2 or 3 such events in the last year, all of which have been at The Cosener's House, but day time, and had excellent meals. This time I stayed over and though I had a single room, I had a wonderful view over the garden looking out to the Thames. I checked in at 2pm and Jenny was very helpful, and the next day when I checked out. Breakfast was very nice and all the staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Thoroughly recommend The Cosener's and the bonus is you are a 2 minute walk from town and 30 seconds away from the Abbey Grounds and Unicorn Theatre. The Cosener's is steeped in History, has charm and character and a wonderful gallery and staircase / landing - the like of which you do not get in the bland chain hotels. What's not to like.

It's not very often me and my wife get to spend time away from home together and when we did, in late August 2025, I decided on spending a couple of nights in Oxford. I chose The Cosener's House as it was not far from the city centre. What a lovely hotel this is. It is the conference & accommodation centre of Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. It would be an ideal venue for a wedding or celebratory occasion. The staff we encountered were friendly and polite, especially the young lady on reception and the young lady serving at breakfast. The bedroom was lovely but a little to warm as the room doesn't offer air conditioning. However there was a pedestal fan in our room. Cleanliness was very good throughout, not excellent, as there was dust in unseen areas of our room but that's me being ultra picky. I did notice dust on the fire extinguishers too, which we passed to get to our room. We didn't dine here, except for breakfast, which is buffet style. The selection is good. Scrambled eggs are on the buffet but I prefer fried eggs and this is not a problem. Pricing is good too. I highly recommend and would visit here again.

Locational and staff brilliant. Sadly not a 5 star hotel, weekend breakfast self service with items not replenished and bacon and sausages looking very undercooked. Room basic, no tissues, body lotion or water. Also no umbrella which considering in stable rooms a walk from main building would have been helpful since it was pouring when we went for breakfast. Shame as great location with beautiful grounds and very pleasant staff.

Went for afternoon tea today. Lovely place and nice setting. We told in advance we did not like egg and ended up with 2 rounds of cheese and pickle. Not really much flare in serving them. No homemade cakes either. Had better teas. Lovely service by the young waitress though.

My husband and I have spent 2 very enjoyable nights at Coseners House Hotel, very good service, lovely, helpful staff, my only critique is the accessible bathroom, although a lovely size only had a tiny sink, with no plug, so if you didn't want a shower, washing became very difficult. To shower a disabled person, before breakfast, would be very hard, so a larger wash hand basin so you could fill it with water and hand wash, would have made life easier. Just an observation
