From the moment I stepped inside, the warm, rustic decor and the irresistible aroma of freshly ground coffee enveloped me like a hug. The barista greeted me with a genuine smile, recommending their signature lavender latte – a dreamy blend of floral notes and creamy espresso that was pure perfection in a cup.
I paired it with their avocado toast on sourdough, topped with poached eggs, chilli flakes, and a sprinkle of feta. Every bite was a revelation: fresh, vibrant, and beautifully presented. The portion was generous without being overwhelming, and the ingredients tasted like they’d been sourced from a local farmer’s market that morning.
What truly sets this café apart is the atmosphere. Soft jazz played in the background, natural light poured in through the large windows, and the seating – a mix of plush armchairs and wooden tables – made it ideal for both solo work sessions and relaxed catch-ups with friends. The staff were attentive yet unobtrusive, refilling my water without me even asking.

Popped into The Atkinson today and tried their chicken & bacon wrap (they have a cute little cafe called 'A Great Little Place') which put a smile on my grumpy little face for half an hour. Surprisingly spacious when you step inside (I sat outdoors last summer just watching all the pretty girls pass by) and it had a really nice atmosphere indoors. Plenty of friendly helpful staff meant I got served really quickly, but there are loads of little comfy corners to offer some lovely private areas to hang out in. I might go back tomorrow, it was nice 😉

Very friendly and efficient staff. Fast service and extremely good value for money. The only drawback is the comfortable seating are on the low side for majority clients whom are 50+.

I asked for a black coffee and got charged for an Americano. I wonder if Americans call an Americano a black coffee.

Would recommend.

(Based on Lord Street inside the Atkinson)

A Great Little Place is a Social Enterprise creating opportunities for young autistic people to develop work skills for life, They are the winners of Southport Stars Cafe Of The Year 2023, and I was very excited to try it!

I was invited for lunch at this lovely cafe, which is accessible from the Atkinson itself, or it does have an entrance at the front too with tables outside. The entrances are both accessible for wheelchair users, but the one through the Atkinson is much easier as its an automatic door, so I can use this when I am on my own

The cafe has a great area at the back which is very spacious and a little quieter which I prefer, so I sat here and I was able to stay in my wheelchair and access the table comfortably

The disabled toilet facilities are right near the cafe as well, and uses a Radar key entry system. The toilets are lovely and clean with plenty of room to turn in and a good drier too! (always a bonus)

I was offered table service which was fantastic, as I find this much easier, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

I was with a friend for a catch up and we were both really hungry by the time we ordered, so we we’re grateful to see plenty of comforting filling food on the lunch menu! We both went for the Lancashire Cheese and Red Onion Panini, which was served with a tasty Homemade Creamy Coleslaw and some Kettle Chips. We had a San Pellegrino Lemon drink to help us cool down after shopping, and also a Chai Latte and a Cappuccino!

I loved the fact there was wifi available, and also lots of plug sockets around for if you need to hook up! I will be returning here for a work lunch thats for sure!

Lovely staff, Great facilities, Gorgeous food!

10/10 I will definitely be back

Very popular so usually busy but have always managed to get a seat. No need to book. A great meeting place for lunch, a stop gap between shopping or a pleasant meal before a performance at The Atkinson. The varied food is divine, and understand the amazing desserts are home made. Wonderful! Would recommend

Went for lunch and had the hummus and olive platter that comes with a large side salad and toasted pitta bread. Delicious! My mum had the chicken salad which she said was fab! Good value for money, the staff are lovely and it's always busy! Didn't have any cake but they looked gorgeous. 🙂👍
