Harden Mains is in a quiet location, a little off the beaten track but it offers you peace and quiet away from noise of passing traffic. There are fantastic views over the surrounding countryside. The bedrooms are spotless with quality linen and comfortable beds. The breakfasts are made with good quality local ingredients and Tom & Karen are the perfect hosts with a welcoming tray of home made cake and tea upon arrival served in the guest lounge. We have stayed at other 4 star rated B&Bs and would say that this was by far the best in terms of comfort and quality of accomodation/breakfast. So much so that this was our second visit.

The girls and I really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful B and B. The welcoming scones were delicious, as was the smoked haddock and egg. We loved the tranquil setting and the scenery from the bedrooms. Speaking of which - we had the family suite. Both rooms were tastefully decorated, with games and books on the shelf. The shower was invigorating and the towels fluffy. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

We were so very glad to book into this lovely B&B , in a beautiful peaceful setting , but within easy reach of Jedburgh , without the noise of any traffic. The accommodation was spacious, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable - an excellent night's sleep! ! Tom and Karen provide everything you need, a warm welcome with tea and cake, good advice as to where to eat in Jedburgh, a delicious breakfast and an enthusiastic welcome for our dog, who enjoyed her chilled and relaxed stay too. In an area of unrivalled appeal for scenery, Harden Mains Farm provides accommodation of equal quality. Many thanks.

We took a few days to Scotland to visit friends and family. Lovely hotel off the beaten track with great accommodation. It's difficult to find a hotel that takes 5 people without the expense of additional rooms but we had a charming room with an adjoining room for the kids. We were quite late in getting there but Karen was in the process of leaving some fresh milk in the room to allow us to make ourselves a welcome cup of tea. Great breakfasts and plenty to eat. Lots of games for the kids to enjoy, must see about getting a chess set at home. Would definitely recommend this to other families. Missed out on the pandas at the zoo though.

We decided to think for some days, as to what we might say about the farm, so as to be as fair as we could be.||We picked the B & B on the recommendation of the owner of a former B & B Guest House, where some of our family had stayed in the past.||Harden Mains is situated just over 3 miles outside the Borders town of Jedburgh, in a lovely setting.||The accommodation is excellent, re-furbished bedrooms with lovely en-suite facilities and we were welcomed by "the farmer" Tom, with tea and cake as promised.||However, things began to go downhill after that. Despite a really good quality set of towels for our use, our heated towel rail had not very clean bath towels draped on it and there were no coat hangers in the wardrobe. ||Despite the fact that Karen had been our daughter's point of contact, during the booking process, we did not actually meet her until the morning of our departure.||This meant that "the farmer" produced an over-cooked breakfast on each of the two mornings- the last day we did not have the cooked breakfast and sadly it was the best of our stay, because Karen had prepared it.||We also discovered that Karen actually works as a Community Nurse and also runs Gymkhanas.||The other aspect of our stay that we did not like, was that the rooms were not serviced each day. The beds were left unmade, the rubbish bins were not emptied, nor were the sink, toilet, shower and bath cleaned.||We loved staying in the Borders area and were lucky with the weather and will be back. However despite the convenience- half way between our home and our daughters- we will not be back to stay at Harden Mains.

Beautiful rural location and easy to find with postcode. Made to feel very welcome, cup of tea and cake enjoyed on arrival. Bedroom a good size, plenty of room to put a dog crate if need be, dual aspect. Open the wooden shutters and see the lambs playing in the field right out side your window. Hear the clip clop of hooves as the ponies go out for a hack. ||||Beautifully clean everywhere and shower-room modern, with a good shower and lovely view. Wallpaper and bed linen design were super. Easy drive into St. Boswells for dinner at Buccleuch Arms (best to book in advance). Wi-if in room worked well.

I think this is one of the best Bed and Breakfast places I've stayed, although it might not suit everybody's tastes. If you're looking for Sun, Sea and Sand look elsewhere. No loud music, bars or night clubs. And no mobile phone reception. ||We were driving up to the Highlands so wanted a place to break the journey on the way up and the way back. The farm is located about 5 miles outside of Jedburgh (as would be expected) so you need to make sure you know where you're going. I actually discarded this B&B on my first sweep of the area because it was "too far outside" the main town. However it was recommended to us and I'm glad we put the effort into finding it. On our first visit we were so close and got to the previous road junction before wimping out and heading back to Jedburgh. We called Karen and she gave us directions so we then found it no problem. It was definitely worth tracking down. Tea and scones provided on arrival, lovely old house with plenty of character and big rooms. It's not too far if you want to head back into Jedburgh for an evening meal, but for an additional charge Karen also served dinner. We decided to eat there as we didn't think it would be fair to drag our 2 yr old son out again. The food was easily up to restaurant standard and better value. ||Our son loved the freedom, running around with the sheep (don't know how much they enjoyed it, but I made sure he didn't get to close and worry them); a big front garden with balls and goal posts; and a big trampoline (yes I did have a go on it with him). He got his own room (with connecting door to ours) and took great pleasure from flicking through the children's books. Because we used our own blow up ready-bed for him we weren't even charged for his room.||I can't knock it. We'll definitely be looking them up again for our next trip

We have just returned from Harden Mains, we were on family duties and were recommended this b&b by our family friend. ||It is a hidden gem, stunning location perfect for walkers. We arrived and were met by the owners son who was very welcoming.||We had the family room which was very large with a good size en-suite and another large connecting bedroom.||The breakfast was lovely, cereals, fresh fruit and then a full scottish breakfast to set us for the day.||Sarah, James and Glenda Hodges
