This was our 4th time staying here. The staff have always been great and the rooms clean and comfortable. We can definitely see how the hotel is improving it's décor and are freshening up it's rooms and public areas. We understand that doing this takes time so keep going.
We love staying here due to it's location to the town and our family. Breakfast is always freshly cooked and hot. We always have the full English but there are other options available. Good choice of fruit, yogurt, cereals, toast, jams, fruit juice and unlimited tea and coffee.
This is a great little hotel that is refreshing from the big corporate chains and much more expensive hotels.

We only spent one night here, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. (We have stayed in plenty of others and the experience was quite opposite.)
The room we had was well proportioned with a huge bed and the Juliet balcony was a nice touch.
My only gripe would be that the bathroom/ shower room fan was very loud. (However, not as loud as our neighbours leaf blower.)

We had the loveliest time at Fieldways. It was clean and the rooms were very comfortable. I liked the little touches such as flowers in the bedroom. The staff treated us like royalty and couldn't have done more for us. The swimming pool was amazing and I feel it refreshed after our visit. We felt very special staying with the family and all who help run this lovely hotel.

What a dreadful hotel. I seriously don't know where to begin. I wish I had read the reviews and saved us a dreadful night. We almost left in the middle of the night as we were both being eaten alive by the bed bugs. So to begin. We arrived and saw a lovely, if slightly rundown looking building but to be honest we were impressed at first sight. We entered the reception which was basically a small desk in a small room. The smell hit us immediately. We stood and waited for around 15 minutes before anyone came to help us. We were then shown to our room through corridors that were old and, well smelly doesn't really sum it up. Our room had 2 single beds which were soft and didn't promise a good nights sleep. The bathroom was beyond dreadful. The floor behind the toilet was sinking and the macerator was so loud that we knew we would never sleep through the noise. The fan that came on with the light scared us with how loud it was, we couldn't hear each other when that was on. The shower was mouldy and I certainly didn't feel clean afterwards. ||We decided to go for a swim as the pool was one of the reasons that we had booked the place. The pool was old and needed a lot of TLC. We didn't stay in long as I was beginning to feel ill with the smell. The hot tub was behind a screen and hadn't been used for years, mould and something else was growing in it. The sauna had a not in use poster on it. The showers and changing room were so rundown and mouldy.||We took ourselves off to the nearby Toby carvery for dinner and sat with our phones trying to find somewhere to move to. In the end we decided to just go back and put it down to experience.||We then spent the night being eaten by bed bugs and itching. In the morning we went down to breakfast where there was warm yoghurt, croissants and bread to toast as there was a problem in the kitchen and a cooked breakfast wasn't available. We ate a slice of toast and had a lukewarm coffee and escaped. ||I would normally read the reviews before booking but didn't on this occasion. If my review saves one person from having the same dreadful stay I will be happy. I have never written such a long review but this place is beyond dreadful. It could be such a lovely place if it was updated. But old and rundown aside, it is dirty, smelly and full of bedbugs. ||The stay was so awful that we went home the following day instead of visiting bath as intended because we felt dirty and were so tired after having no sleep.

The feedback is very mixed indeed for fieldways. I was dubious but had no reason to be. Welcomed warmly by George we were shown to a lovely room with balcony and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast has to be ordered on arrival to simplify for the small kitchen team. Food was delicious and hot. Even managed a swim in the wonderful ice cold pool (supposed to be heated) all in all happy with our stay and would most happily return.||Only marked down because arriving late signage could have been better.

Not the most efficient hotel but staff were super helpful and friendly; I left my new Kindle behind which the cleaner handed in and it has since been returned to me. Good value for money with pool, sauna and beauty treatments available. Would go again.

I stayed here for 1 night. Having read the reviews I was impressed by the welcome I received from Sue the receptionist. Sue was lovely, helpful and so so kind. Sue even organised food to be delivered for me!||My first room was nice, but I had very noisy neighbours, so Sue found me another room without any fuss. The second room was lovely, fresh carpet, and the bed was very comfy and clean.||Reading the reviews, I have to say, some are very very harsh. Yes, it’s not a 5 star hotel, but you aren’t paying a 5 star price. ||Give the hotel a chance, I suspect you won’t be disappointed
