This hotel is advertised as being disabled friendly but it really isn't. The lift is very small and impossible to fit a wheelchair and its user in and really should be updated. I was not told that there was a ramp that could be used until I happened to ask about it a day before we were due to leave which was a pity as we could have gone out and about more easily. On positive notes the staff are really great and the place is warm and comfortable despite being in need of some refurbishing. The shower room was clean and fresh but the shower was very small and not suitable for a disabled visitor with difficulties in standing. The entertainment was very good and the bar is well stocked and serves good coffee too. Breakfasts are good and the evening meals were plentiful. Not gourmet but good home cooking. Emma, our waitress was excellent at her job and very friendly and helpful. She is a real asset to the hotel. The beds are very comfortable and our room clean, if a little small. To be really disabled friendly it needs a permanent ramp at the entrance and rooms on the ground floor if it is not possible to update the lift.

Just leaving the Royal Pier after a 4 day stay with Majestic Coaches. I was appalled by the state of the shower and toilet situated in what was no bigger than a cupboard. It was dirty and covered in mould. The bedroom was reasonable but strange having wash basin in the bedroom and the shelf for tea making facilities was too small Could be dangerous.
The dining room staff were delightful and very helpful. The bar staff were equally pleasant.
The hotel needs a complete refurbishment and majestic shouldn't use it until they do.
P.S. the lift was absolutely lethal and should
be condemned and signs for rooms confusing because of all the staircases

Just got home from a 5 day stay. Really enjoyed our time with you. Lovely clean room with brilliant sea view. The one thing that really stands out for me were the fantastic staff. On the day of arrival Sarah helped me with my case and find my room she was so friendly and helpful. Our waitress poppy was lovely friendly polite and made meal times a pleasure. These two members of staff are a credit to your hotel

Just spent 4 nights on a Harry Shaw coach tour at this delightful hotel, where we were warmly greeted by a very friendly and welcoming Reception team. During our stay we reported a problem to them with our door lock. No problem….a new one was fitted almost immediately!!||What a little treasure this hotel is…It’s Victorian and is full of reminders of that era. We loved the staircase and beautiful chandeliers, the creaking floorboards and the beautiful sea view from our comfortable, (spotlessly clean) bedroom window. Yes, the lift is not the best we’ve ever used (although never waited for long), and did prove a problem for some people. It was very different!! ||The restaurant was extremely clean, very attractive, the food delicious and Emma, who looked after us, was really kind, helpful and efficient, a real credit to the hotel. ||Highly recommend a stay here and hope to return one day.

Our 3rd stay at The Royal Pier. The food was as usual very good, as was the waitress service. We were in room 60 which was only an issue on check in & check out day, but was clean & tidy. Staff were very helpful. Only one request, we were part of a coach trip & on the Saturday night we had one game of bingo, the lounge for this was full & quickly emptied once the game had finished. Would it be more profitable to have bingo, Fri, Sat & Sun & maybe a quiz too as not everybody enjoys watching the live acts next door. Thank you for an amazing stay & see you all next year ❤️

We also stayed for the scooter rally and also stayed last year ( matresses had been changed and a shelf put up in the bathroom after our last review which highlighted this)|Our room was clean and had a sea view. The bathroom was of ample size and the shower as good as you can get in an older hotel. |Ok yes it is tired but the staff more than make up for it.|Ee hsve booked again for next year

This hotel is in the process of renovating rooms one at a time. You may be lucky to stay in one of these, we weren't . |Although the reception, bar, lounge and dining room are pleasant enough the unrenovated rooms leave a lot to be desired. |The floor in our room was very uneven and moved as we walked. The window cill and skirting board were coming away. The wallpaper was peeling in the shower room. The pipes behind the lavatory were disgusting. |The breakfasts were good but the evening meals could be a lot better. |The waitresses were outstanding. On one occasion my wife dropped a knife and was handed a new one before she could retrieve the other.

We stayed less than an hour here. Room was harping back to the 70's, plastic spoons and unwrapped tea bags!!!!! We had a great view overlooking the kitchen extractor trunking which was also very noisy. Masking tape on the passageway carpets. Hotel needs a total refurbishment
