A little gem hidden in Oxford! Extremely good value. Clean, comfortable, spacious and quiet room with very good internet connection. Bus stop to the centre 2 minutes away from the house or 20 minutes walk to the centre. Highly recommended.

Stayed for 2 nights - it’s an older style property but personally, we couldn’t fault it for cleanliness or for the friendly and helpful welcome from the owner. Bed was really comfortable and the room very quiet. | There is a small car park but as all spaces were full, we were advised we could park in the side streets across the road ( A real bonus as it’s often hard to find free parking in Cambridge). They aren’t doing breakfast at the moment but recommended Stir across the road . (It’s so good we visited both mornings but other cafes are available close by too) |The guesthouse is an easily doable walk into centre but there is a bus stop just up the road if you need it.

So the bed was comfy and clean. The shower was ice cold, the sink in the bathroom had hair around the taps, the bin hadn't been emptied in the bathroom and the towels had strains on them. See shower picture moldy and rusty, minging!!

We stayed in room one. The bathroom was dirty and the toilet was filthy. Squirting some toilet cleaner down a toilet does not constitute actually cleaning it. It was full of hairs from previous occupants and I had to clean the seat before using it. |The window in our bedroom didn’t close properly and there was no heating on so it was freezing. |The only positive is that the beds were comfortable.|Definitely not worth the money and would not recommend this ‘hotel’.

We had a wonderful stay at Acorn Guest House. Greeted upon arrival and given the room for the time we had requested. The room was clean, spacious and cosy for the 3 nights we stayed in the city. The bed was extremely comfortable and far better than other 5 star hotels I had stayed in! The room was cleaned and the bed was made every day and the bathroom was in a good condition. We were given towels and a hairdryer. The owners immediately found me a fan on request and kindly allowed us to store our bags at the hotel when we wanted to go out for the day that we checked out. We felt very welcomed and found it was extremely affordable for our budgets and would love to stay again. It felt very covid safe with handsanizer and wipes straight at the door. Our room was in the main house and on the front. At first I was worried we would hear the road outside but it was perfectly fine and we had some fantastic nights of restful sleep.||||The hotel is a good 20-30 minute walk into the centre of town along the river or taking the roads. It is a little far our from the station 30-40 mins by foot so we took a taxi on the way back (6 minutes in a cab). ||||We believe this is more of a 4.5 hotel than a 4, with only tiny (and maybe even slightly picky) improvements being bigger bath towels for the shower as they didn’t seem to wrap round us enough, and potentially some more tea choices or light breakfast options like croissants (we loved the small packets of free biscuits with a tea). ||||We really hope we can come and stay again and we look forward to when the breakfasts come back when things are a little safer. A massive thank you to the wonderful family who own this hotel for all your help and a fantastic stay in Cambridge.

Lovely place with friendly staff, comfy beds and quiet location! It’s quite dated however it’s all clean. Prices are reasonable and perfect for stopover in Cambridge. Unfortunately they don’t do meals however there a traditional bakery nearby which does delicious fresh sourdough bread and pastries, also have a cafe next doors which is order for brunch.

Please note this place doesn’t have parking facilities, it’s on the main road but there is street parking available nearby and it’s free from Saturday evening to all day Sunday.

When entering old fashioned fusty smelling carpet. First twin room given the beds where the type of single beds you find in a caravan on asking to move given a room in the extra rooms at the back of the house. Room slightly better double bed and a single bed, clean bedding , poor quality beds hard and uncomfortable, flat over worn pillows. Bath room extremely small, crusted up shower head, rusty peddle bin, mirror hung with a piece of green washing line. The room was reasonably clean but very dated and in need of decorating. The heating didn’t work but on request the owner fixed it and sorted the shower head to a degree. The bed side lamp plug was broken. One redeeming feature was the breakfast but only served between 8-9am so don’t go out enjoying yourselves to much because you don’t get a lie in. You may ask why we stayed, well we only stayed 2 nights out of the 3 we should have. We would have left straight away if we thought we would get our money back but we had a feeling we wouldn’t, so we put up with 2 nights. On the second night we hardly slept ending with bad backs and necks due to the beds. Although the owner dealt with our issues it certainly didn’t make up for the poor quality at £218 for 3 nights when we could have got into a better quality hotel. Our reason for choosing that venue was because it was near the family we were visiting. I realise that these type of guest house have passing through trade but we would be ashamed to have visitors thinking that this was the British Hospitality Standard. Limited parking

Might be alright if it was the last room available in Cambridge. Not as represented on Booking.com. The outside is uninspiring and things don't improve any beyond the front door.|Our ground floor bedroom was small, the bathroom reeks of damp, and on arrival was soaking wet, dried up with the shower mat which came up filthy.|Perhaps it's a good thing that they don't do breakfast as the kitchen looked none too clean (could only see in from outside, so possibly not a fair comment).|The only positive is that the owner/manager is friendly and helpful.|Definitely over-priced. If we had not already paid (non-refundable) we would not have stayed.
