Lovely flat which is an annex to the larger farmhouse, set in lovely gardens. The house is located 1.5 miles from the village of Pocklington, however, our host was more than happy to give us a lift.||We were on a three day cycling trip, doing the Way of the Roses and so arrived tired at the end of a long day. We were instantly made to feel welcome, tea & coffee making facilities were available and our bikes were securely stored.||Breakfast in the morning was generous and good quality and served in the main house.||Overall, a very pleasant and welcoming B&B experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Visited with a friend for a cycling holiday. The accommodation was excellent, spacious and with it's own separate entrance. The house is set in magnificent gardens, where we drank a glass of wine or three in the evenings, oblivious of the quite busy road, not all that far away, but not visible, and far enough away for it not to have bothered us at all. Chris, our host was indeed the perfect host. She was attentive and helpful, and never intrusive, but responsive to our friendliness and enjoyed a glass of wine and a chat in the garden when invited to join us. Her breakfasts are unparalleled; I've not had a better breakfast anywhere . . . ever!

We had a lovely welcome, and were very pleased with our comfy room with a kitchen next door, a bonus. The house was old and beautifully furnished and the gardens were very pretty. The breakfast was delicious, I thoroughly recommend a stay here.

We stayed here for one night in a family room. There was a private bathroom just outside the room and shared a kitchenette which had a cooker, microwave, sink, kettle, fridge. There was a selection of hot drinks and biscuits and the owner brought us some milk. The room was comfortable with lovely views of the gardens which we were welcome to walk in. Parking was in front of the house on the pebble drive. Breakfast was a selection of fruit, cereals, yogurts, cooked English breakfast with toast and tea and coffee. Would recommend and hope to return.

Great location, just 30 minutes from York city centre. Situated in a quiet countryside location, but still close to local amenities. We were greeted by the owner, Chris, and her lovely dog. Parking was easy, large pebbled area in front of the house. Private entrance to the B&B. We stayed in a family room and there was another room opposite the landing. Both rooms share a good size bathroom and kitchen upstairs (Chris even left us some biscuits and milk), with a lovely sitting area downstairs (with piano!). We had a small dog with us, so the large garden and adjacent field / wooded area was ideal. Lots of rabbits roaming, which was lovely. The rooms were spacious with windows at either end producing lots of light. The beds were so comfy. There was a little box on the dressing table full of "emergency extras". We didn't need any, but I thought this was a great touch. We were asked to fill out a form for our breakfast, which was great, as it meant we didn't have to order in the morning and wait for it to be cooked. Chris came in to say good morning and bring in some tea/coffee. There was a lovely selection of cereals, fruit and juice to keep us going until the cooked breakfast, which was equally as lovely. I would highly recommend this accommodation for families looking to visit York or the surrounding areas, as it's so peaceful and Chris can give you lots of insider knowledge of the area. If we're in the area again, then we'll definitely be back! Thanks Chris.

Stayed for one night on the way to pick up relative. Chris the owner of Alder Carr house was very friendly and genuine. I can honestly say there wasn’t one thing that we needed for. There was even a torch by the side of the bed so no stubbed toes during the night!! Everything was lovely, very comfortable. The breakfast was really good quality and plenty of it. We would highly recommend staying here.

Just had a fantastic weekend break at our favourite Yorkshire bolt hole. The two rooms we shared with our friends are perfect and the breakfast are second to none. Perfectly placed for the park and ride into York. Big thank you for another great weekend. Hope to see you soon

Day two of our Way of the Roses cycle ride: two cyclists and back up team. Excellent facilities: wonderfully comfortable accommodation. The property had everything we could have wanted for our stay - including an excellent breakfast. Many thanks!
