In April 2023, my husband and I booked the elopement package at Alexander's House, and it was an incredible experience. The owners and staff were wonderful and extremely helpful both in planning and executing our wedding. The stunning views across the property only added to the day's magic. If I didn't live in the U.S., I would book a glamping weekend in their yurts all the time!

Dreamy stay at Alexander house. The facilities are brilliant - great space, comfortable beds, beautiful scenery, well equipped kitchen, speakers throughout the house, a lovely hot tub, pool and outdoor seating areas. Also, great communication from Pippa and the team. Can’t wait to return!

I served few of my clients in this beautiful house. All the time I can only hear good comments from my clients. The manager is always very helpful and gentle!
Overall I really recommend this house!

The view is amazing and constantly changing. Just beautiful. It was cloudy and muggy when we arrived, so we immediately lit the hot tub, which had been set up for us with the wood that we pre ordered. Whilst waiting for the water to heat up, we just sat and listened to the silence. The hot tub took more than 3 hours to heat up, nearly 4 hours. When we got in, all the water overflowed!! We'd sat for literally hours to heat, maybe don't fill it as high as we probably wasted an extra hour heating water that just went straight onto the decking! Also, the seat is so low inside, with all the unnecessary water I wasn't able to sit down. We didn't bother using it again after the first night, even though we'd pre ordered extra wood.

We couldn't locate the towels and I panicked a bit, but after realising that we'd put our belongings on the green storage box in the bathroom we found them along with the slippers, dishcloths, tea towels, ear plugs, laundry bag, writing pads & lots of Alexander House postcards. I'd have expected all of these to be put out for us, not just left in a storage box for us to find.

We had such a wonderful peaceful few days, I think we were the only people there, but on Wednesday evening after spending a lovely day in Edinburgh we arrived at our yurt around 6pm to find other guests. They were extremely noisy until way after 1:30am, we could even hear them over the torrential rain!!

Having a daily bath was quite a challenge, as my husband has arthritis in his knee, and I just found it a pain. On the other hand, there was always plenty of boiling hot water.

Washing up in the bathroom sink wasn't ideal. We have stayed in many yurts over the last few years, and although Heather has a full-size fridge & hot plate, it's lacking in other areas. We'd have preferred a table and chairs and some comfy chairs, rather than a large sofa, as when it rained we couldn't use the outdoor table so had to eat off our knees which isn't ideal, especially as the lap trays provided looked very worn. Also I had to remove the fluffy throws, cushions & rugs, although they are a lovely idea I don't think they're hygienic, as I'm sure they're probably not washed and/or changed between guests.
Every time we got into the bed, it clunked underneath, which was quite worrying.
The light is just a bulb that just spoils the look.
We hired a BBQ at a cost of £25 and the weather was so bad that we only used it twice (once in the poring rain as we needed to get our monies worth!)
There were holes in the canvas and around the door, which daylight (and howling wind) came through.
The postcode we were given didn't work for us, and after finding and driving up the track, the views were amazing until coming up to the property where there's a lovely large workshop with the bins and a skip in front of it! It's not a good look.
I think, after speaking with the locals in Auchterarder, we'd have expected a higher standard & quality of furnishings, although it is very cosy and the mattress is comfortable. This is the 9th yurt we've stayed in, and it's by far the worst thought out. It's looking very dirty, tired & and old, and when the wind blows, the yurt isn't secure enough, so it's extremely noisy. We just would have expected more for our money and the location. Overall, it was disappointing 😞

Many thanks for your very short reply. As we have said, we've stayed in many yurts and have had horrendous weather but the yurts have always been secure. I'm disappointed that the only point you took from this review is regarding the weather which nobody has any control over! Very odd.

Beautiful location and stunning views. We stayed in the Bramble Yurt for two nights for £275. The yurt had a fire started for us on arrival which was nice as a storm was due.

The yurt is beautiful inside and has almost everything you need. Bear in mind there is no tv or wi-fi. Plenty games and great for a peaceful tech free weekend.

I only have three stars as the hot tub was dirty and never really heated up enough to use in winter. The bed was not the comfiest so struggled to sleep. I also felt the place charged for literally everything! I just got back and seen I’ve been charged £40 for something I have yet to find out for what. We took all our own towels, bath robes etc because they charge for that too.

Considering what you pay - you don’t get a lot.

Do not visit in the winter. I would have loved to give this venue 5 stars due to the facilities it had . I attended a hen do in March with private dinning and
to say the night was ruined would be an under statement. The house was freezing the girls all had to sit with blankets over their party dresses at dinner. I did query the temperature, was told it was 18 degrees which is the lowest it can be set at. I didn’t find the hosts staff helpful at all they would not turn up the heating just kept saying it’s at 18degrees.

Reflecting on our wedding day and feeling so grateful for the team at Alexander House. They went above and beyond to give us the perfect day. The house, grounds and views are spectacular and bed and bath tub were total luxury!! We initially booked for a private Elopement but our families joined us last minute. The team at Alexander House were so accomodating, making us all feel very welcome. Thank you ❤️

We stayed here for a long weekend in one of the converted horse boxes. Considering the weather the glamping remained toasty and they kindly left a dog pack for our little pup. Great views all round and awesome places near to hike and drink. The only sad piece was the wood burner hot tub, we attempted using it twice and even paid the £25 for it to be preheated and it never got warm enough to use. Would recommend staying still, lovely place!
