Have visited the stables a few times recently - a gorgeous location with amazing views. Becky kindly showed me around the Yurt today, along with the compost toilet and (hot!) shower. So great to see things being done in an eco-way; a great get-away for someone who loves nature.
Would absolutely recommend staying!
(Also, the horses are the cutest)

We had such a wonderful holiday as a couple here. Becky was so friendly & welcoming, and helped us with the solar panel when it was beeping late at night (it was just low battery). She provided croissants, milk, orange juice, and cereals for us. The yurt has a full set of recycling boxes, and a medium sized coolbox, outside the shaded side of the yurt. As well as a USB port for charging things, Becky provides a bluetooth speaker and extension cord. To get to the yurt you walk through a small field of friendly horses; you're then in a totally secluded area with the compost loo & hot outdoor shower, outdoor bath, firepit with a bench, picnic table, solar panel, and adorable twinkling fairy lights to light the way to the loo from the yurt. Inside the yurt is incredibly cosy, clean, and beautifully decorated. We quickly felt right at home, and got used to filling the big jug with water from the outdoor tap by the loo to use as our water source. We were able to use the firepit for our BBQ we brought with us, storing our meat & veg safely in the coolbox. We had one meal out at the nearby Crown Inn (Becky's recommendation), which was fantastic. It's a lovely area to go for walks on nearby in the countryside, and Budgens of Box (a service station/farm shop) was close by for supplies. Nothing beats falling asleep to the sound of rain pattering on the roof of the yurt with fire embers glowing in the woodstove. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Stayed in a little yurt which was perfect for us! Becky was so lovely and made us feel welcome from the get go.
Even though we went in mild weather, the log burner heats up the yurt lovely!
The best bit was having a hot shower whilst taking in the view.
I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to just escape the fast pace every day life , and just relax xxx

I would never usually leave negative feedback but on this occasion I feel I should share my experience.
I should have realised from the unprofessional booking process that our stay would not be as we had hoped. Email communication was poor, I had to ask for an invoice several times, the booking confirmation was incorrect and I never received any arrival information.
On arrival Becky, the host, had gone out and had not informed anyone of our arrival. Her husband called her on speakerphone to advise that we had arrived and she grumbled that he should just show us to the shepherds hut as she was at the shops.
We have been glamping on many occasions and know what to expect but were extremely disappointed at what we were faced with - a dusty, grimy shepherds hut, no lock on either the hut or the shower trailer, mouldy and grubby shower and bathroom facilities, a dirty toilet, a snail which had taken up residency in the toilet roll, the promised continental breakfast was a tub of dusty muesli with a bottle of out of date milk left on the side. There were 2 tiny lights which gave off no light whatsoever and the only power supply was outside in a dirty, weed and cobweb filled brick structure that you wouldn’t dare to plug anything in to.
After looking forward to our trip I was devastated and had no choice but to leave immediately. I was too upset to speak to Becky, especially after her reaction on the phone when we arrived. I contacted her immediately via text and she was extremely understanding and offered a full refund due to our disappointment at the state of the the facility. However the following day she retracted her offer and has given no refund whatsoever for such poor standards. I tried to call to discuss the situation and Becky was unprofessional and rude, she has since not responded to messages.

In response to claims that this is lies I can wholeheartedly guarantee this is the truth. My messages after I left explained all about the dirty facilities and lack of cleanliness, the snail on the toilet roll and lack of power were simply the icing on a very dirty cake.

What an amazing place to stay , exactly what I needed , piece and quiet , fantastic views , easy access to bath , Becky Made me feel welcome and showed me everything I needed .
The shepards hut and horsebox Trailer were clean and fresh , the bed was comfy and enjoyed 2 nights with my girlfriend ,
I’ve stayed in various glamping pods, huts yurts around the country and this was right up there for value location and tranquility ,

Avoid avoid avoid, the lady that runs this is very unprofessional and a bully, our daughter has stayed with her for some months now and assisted her with the stables and other yard works and she has evicted her with no real reason and thrown her stuff over my hedge today, also leaving her pet rabbits in some one else's garden (dumped with no notification) along with abusive messages and very bad behaviour, she has been reported for this....

Had a wonderful cosy stay at Applegates. Becky couldn't do enough for us and the views across the valley are beautiful. It was a peaceful and restful break... just what we needed.
