We are working in the palace in Linlithgow so it's really convenient here. The rooms are as you would expect, thus is rural Scotland! I want funny design carpet and a good portion of quaintness! This place had character. The owner is very accommodating, a little staid perhaps, but this is her house and we are visitors, it's a b&b, if you want a hotel go to a hotel! I really like it here. The views from the huge bedroom windows are fantastic and the beds are super comfy. We like it so we are staying longer.

The landlady was helpful when the sat nav sent me the wrong way-it seems this is a regular occurrence so directions would be helpful when one books. It is meant to be 'pet friendly' but it was obvious that my dogs would not really welcome in the room although she did show an interest in the show I was going to and gave me directions to a walk. The room was a large family one and I had the use of an electric heater. The walls seemed a bit thin as I could hear someone snoring in the next one-not enough to cause a problem. Comfortable bed with nice thick pillow. The landlady provided breakfast half an hour early at my request but it was a matter of 'I suppose I'll have to if you want to leave early' . There was no juice, the scrambled egg was unusual being one solid piece and I am not sure that the coffee was ground. In some ways it was very good in others fell short of what one might expect.

On arrival the owner suggested our dog should stay in the car overnight even though we had specifically requested (in writing) and been accommodated in a dog friendly room. Room was small, shabby and very dated. One bedside light did not work, the en suite was minute and towels inadequate, thin and coarse. The room was unheated on arrival and the electric heater we turned on was weak. The bedding was insuffient, two thin, hard and smelly pillows on the double bed. There was only one addition pillow in the cupboard. The kettle was unusable as, on filling it, pieces of matter came off the base inside, repeatedly. We did not wait for the breakfast despite having paid for it. A very sorry end to a lovely touring holiday in Scotland.

I stayed at Aran House as attending a Dog Show in area. I found the room excellent and the view was wonderful. The breakfasts were excellent.. Sheone was very helpful and interested in what I was doing. There were lovely walks along the canal. I had planned to stay extra days and Sheone made arrangements for me to stay in Linlithgow as I was relying on Public Transport and she felt it would be better for me to be in Linlithgow.

A very bad experience. We arrived at scheduled arrival time and there was nobody to wait for us. They lost our reservation so we have been "hosted" in a small room with no bath. The room was dirty, namely the pillow and bathrobe. The second night we finally moved to a family room and, when back in the evening, we found the bath floor wet and dirty. In general, the furniture is really old and used, breakfast with minimum choice. When leaving, we could only have a discount on the rate, as the service quality was really low...

First the good. Aran house is located within a short distance of downtown Linlithgow.......and there is a beautiful canal walk most of the way. That's the good. The bad is........the food was so so......the bathrooms ensuite was painfully small......the size I would estimate to be 7 ft by 4 ft and there is a sink (12 inches wide?) a toilet which if you leaned over your forehead hits the wall....and a one person shower. The wifi is also useless inside the bedrooms. The house is nice enough but extremely dated.

We were attending a competition with our kids and to save getting out of bed early to travel to Scotland we decided to book a family room with en-suite for me,husband and 2 kids for £70 per night 6 weeks before the competetion date. Two days before we were due to traveI I printed off the reservation and noticed that we had booked Family-room but only had down for breakfast for 2 adults. Just to clarify this I emailed land-lady to double check that the kids would get breakfast, but we had not had a reply to this by time we arrived at B&B that night.||On arrival at the B&B a note was left for us to go to our room, No 1, which had a four poster bed, en-suite but no where for kids to sleep!!! When the land lady returned we explained that we booked a family room as we travelled as a family for the competition and she then showed us to room 3. Breakfast was due at 8am but the land-lady agreed to serve ours at 7.30 as we had to travel for the competition so after we had our breakfast I asked how she wanted our payment. She said cash or cheque. As we were away from home I only had cash and debit card. I gave her £80 as I had no change, and to our surprise she informed me it was half price for kids for their room, total of £105.00, she accepted £90 in total and although I offered to call back with the extra £15 she said it was ok. Good weekend except for the mis-understanding of the 'family-room' On a positive note we can highly recommend the BRIDGE INN for an excellent bar meal 🙂

My wife and I wanted to visit Linlithgow Palace and spend a couple of days exploring the area. We stayed with Sheona overnight and had a lovely stay. Comfy bed and a great breakfast, cant ask for more, as well as great value.||Not sure why there are so many poor reviews but no complaints from us.
