On arrival we were greeted by a lovely young lad and a super adorable doggo. The lad who was checking us in was very efficient and did a wonderful job (under the supervision of his father) had a really nice chat with the owner on arrival and felt super welcome. The room itself was cosy. The bed was really comfortable and the view from our window showed the abbey! I did hope that the tv in the room would be a smart tv as alot of hotels provide them now. But who needs a smart tv when you have the beautiful place of whitby to explore. Would absolutely return again.

Overall very good experience, the room is large with everything we basically need. The space is so spacious and there’s really nothing to criticise. The bathroom is also very good with good water pressure, the only thing could be improved may be not enough space to hang my clothes.|In terms of breakfast, the variety and taste of food is very decent with big portion. The price is more than reasonable with what I am provided, very lovely experience!! They also provide luggage storage for me to go out for the last day! Would stay here again with my next visit!!

Great location, just a short walk into the centre of Whitby. The staff were friendly and the rooms comfortable with everything you need. I’d definitely recommend the full english breakfast, it was cooked perfectly. You won’t go hungry for the rest of the day.

We loved this place. The location is excellent, we were never bothered by the road noise at all. The road is so quiet at night anyway. We were able to find the key so as to have an early check in which was so welcome after a long trip. Our room was Cosy and the double/single bed had excellent pillows. Breakfast was great. Go for the kippers as they are exceptional. There was a library full of books in the landing and the value was second to none. A real gem. |Just one thing the lady who we called upon check in, she can be quite curt in manner. She was the same when I dared to approach the table to get a glass of juice, I was basically told to sit back down. She redeemed herself by giving me a sure sausage for my dog. The rest of the staff, cleaning lady, young lady I spoke to on an evening were exceptionally kind and gracious. You won’t get better value for money, for location, breakfast and comfy rooms in Whitby. Beautiful architecture too. Thank you

Had a night here recently. It was a strange experience as we never actually saw a member of staff. There was a phone number on the desk but we never physically saw anyone.||The front door was only locked at 9pm which was a litter strange given the fact that there appeared to be no staff on site.||We stayed in a small room on the top floor and it was adequate for what we paid for the room, the room however had a little bit of a strange smell (like wall paper paste) but the wall paper wasn’t new. The tv was also really small and you couldn’t control the volume with the remote. The room was ok for one night and I wouldn’t book this room for anything other than a bed to sleep in. ||To score 5 starts the room would have to be exceptional and the staffs interactions outstanding however other than the phone call to check in we had not interactions with any staff, I would however stay here again, just maybe in a bigger room.

This is a honest review of my stay…we arrived and pressed the bell to check in! 4 bell rings & a phone call 15 mins from arrival a young lad in a school uniform checked us in! He was a pleasant lad and certainly knew what he was doing but it felt wrong. He told us we were in room 8 just up the stairs. We went upstairs but no door had a room number on it just a name, after checking our keyring we discovered our room. When we walked into the room I was very disappointed! I initially thought the window was open due to the road noise but it wasn’t! The reason was the top half of the window hadn’t been replaced and there was cracks covered by tape! (See photos) the draft and noise coming thru this window was terrible. |The room was very dated nothing like the photos online, the wallpaper was peeling on every joint and the ceiling was shocking! |The furniture & en suite were lovely and the bed was one of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in in a hotel but due to the dodgy window and radiator not heating up past aired it was freezing in the room. |The breakfast was nice and the young lady who served us was very efficient and pleasant. The mushrooms were a very weird taste not sure what type of mushroom they were Overall the hotel has the potential to be amazing with abit of tlc and money putting into it, it’s in a fabulous position for the front and centre and the free parking is a massive bonus but would I return..unfortunately not!

Currently staying at Arundel house and tonight is our last night. I have to say it’s been exceptional, the historic manor house itself is a beautiful building and because it’s the end of November it’s trimmed up in beautiful Christmas decorations. The rooms are so lovely and cosy. The beds are super comfy. The bathroom like the whole room was spotless and comprised of toilet, sink with light up mirror and shower cubical with both traditional shower head and rainfall shower head. The young lady that checked us in I believe she’s called Rachel (apologies if I got the name wrong) is so lovely and friendly she made us feel very welcome. She also served us breakfast and oh my what a breakfast it is we had the full English but there is a choice of breakfasts including Whitby kippers and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, it was one of if not the best full English we’ve ever had it was made of top quality premium ingredients. No cheap overly salty Bacon, or catering sausages here only the finest farm/butchers quality meat and black pudding. The most perfectly fried free range eggs along with beans, mushrooms, tomato and toast, juices and a French press cafetière of fresh coffee brought out to the table no cheap instant coffee served here. The location is great for the park, museum and gallery (across the road) and only 5 minutes from the harbour. Honestly for the price and the quality of this place you’d be mad to go anywhere else. We’ll 100% be returning as we love Whitby and our stay here has been perfect. Thank you Arundel house
