I stayed in the island view pod. Very lovely stay and absolutely no complaints about it apart from we had a problem with our hot tub which we was told before we arrived which is fair enough it happens. However we just had some questions about it and a women came round to check some things. This women was very rude to us and told us false information, she also said if I was an electrician I would know this due to my sign written van outside. I thought this was very rude and we also didn’t like the fact she told us false information about the heating of the hot tub which tells me she was just dodging it and doesn’t know herself what she was talking about. Would definitely recommend the pod just don’t expect good help if you have a problem.

We stayed in the Kingfisher lodge a few weeks ago and absolutely loved our stay - the lodge was beautiful and the setting by the lake was so peaceful. The lodge had everything you could need. We also loved the hot tub, and watching the donkeys around the lake.
The only slight negative was that we were swarmed by wasps every time we sat outside (bit strange for there to be so many in October!), so meant we couldn’t relax as much. We noticed they were attracted to the wooden arch structure of the lodge itself so wondered whether there was a nest there.

My partner and I had such a lovely weekend here for my 40th birthday. It was so peaceful, the lodge was perfect, cosy and clean. A wonderful place to relax and do nothing! Will definitely be returning.

My partner and I stayed in the woodpecker pod for 3 nights however we actually ended up leaving in the middle of the night on the last night due to the heat of the pod! It was a scorching hot day and despite leaving the windows and doors open all evening the pod just didn’t cool down and neither of us could sleep.

However that would be our only complaint as we absolutely loved everything about our stay, the view was beautiful, hot tub was great and the donkeys very cute!

The pod itself is cozy and clean, however we did not find proportionate value for money. We opted for the Hideaway which is priced at £170 per night and a min of 3 nights. There is no change of sheets and only 1 towel given for the whole stay (you are required to bring your own). Obviously using the hot tub and needing to shower multiple times a day (before and after using the hottub), the lack of towels was very restrictive and uncomfortable. There is no breakfast included, although the retreat is in the same site of the farm. Also, we were asked to ‘leave the place in the same conditions found’ implying we had to clean and make the beds etc, empty the bins and take them in a specific place outside (near the entrance to the retreat and quite a walk from the pod) and “switch off the heating”. We also received multiple emails asking us to ensure we’d check out by 10AM. As paying guests we found these requests a bit unusual and unnecessary. We have been to many 5* hotels and retreats, and we did not find that Ashley’s amenities and services reflect in the price paid. Fishing activity is advertised but a licence is required, and additional charges apply. Overall a nice experience for a weekend away from home. Would recommend opting for the cheaper pods.

We had a very relaxing five night stay here and as last year I was the only one fishing again.
Have a good twenty plus fish a day of which half are nice sized carp. Fish are always in first class condition.
Already booked for next year, love it.
There is also no problem getting a taxi in and out of Chipping Sodbury of an evening.
Evenings in with a hot tub and fire basket are a bonus.

My partner and I stayed a few nights in the Swan Pod.
Very clean and quiet area, with a great view of the lake right outside our main door. The Pod itself was clean and had all the main essentials we needed for a 3 night stay. The hot tub ran perfectly for the entire time, and added fairly lights were a nice touch. Though there were a couple things made this a 4 not a 5 star stay. We paid for firewood that came with the firelighters and lighter. However the lighter was completely empty, so we had to drive around to find somewhere late on a Sunday to find matches. This was obviously really inconvenient and felt the lighter should have been checked by the owners beforehand. The other reason this stay was not quite perfect was not having any dressing robes. We did expect a dressing robe to lounge in as we have had them in all other accommodations regardless of price. It meant after each shower/hot tub we needed to dry and dress, so just didn't feel as relaxing as it could have been.

However, all in all, it was a nice stay in a nice area and I would recommend it for couples.

Beautiful rural location, Island view is modern, clean and well equipped. Lake small but pretty, fish small but plentiful. Donkeys friendly, sheep friendly. Communication easy from booking till leaving. Little extras like washing up liquid and sponge, cooking oil, tea coffee and sugar good idea. Hot tub always ready to use. Great place to just chill and relax. Highly recommend.
