We have just come back from a lovely week in the retreat. It is a beautiful cabin excellent interior and a beautiful hot tub. Also there is a private drive and a beautiful garden with a lovely patio and barbecue if needed the interior is superb. The bedroom is lovely. The bathroom is luxurious and the kitchen for a cook like me is excellent. Most things were provided. It is really top of the range we leave tomorrow but I’ve already booked for next year. It is an excellent area for travelling around and it has its own little walk through the woods at the bottom of the very small camp. It is lovely. I would also say please come but don’t pinch my cabin. Thank you and thanks very much for the staff, a very friendly chap showed me round and it is all perfect.

Beautiful site on the edge of lake Windermere with views of the lake. Lovely woodland setting. Lodge was wonderful, very clean, well equipped and thoughtfully decorated. Lots of nice touches, free prosecco, chocolates, milk plus tea, coffee, sugar etc - on arrival. Bathrobes, slippers and towels plus a very comfortable bed and recliner sofa. Hot tub was really lovely with a canopy and lights. Highly recommended and would definitely visit again. Thank you.

Beautiful place to stay. Feeling of seclusion and quiet with lots of trees and greenery. Lovely accommodation. Super clean. Chocs and fizz on arrival. Lots of lovely fluffy fresh towels, slippers, and robes supplied. Everything you need for your stay. No shop, bar, or laundromat on the park, but absolutely doesn't matter! There's a very clean and well maintained hot tub! So very private. Loved being here for the week. Will be back for sure. Bed a little firm, but I will bring a little mattress topper for my creaky bones next time.šŸ˜†šŸ˜„ Absolutely recommend to everyone. Perfect. No joke!! Book it!!!

Do not miss out on this hidden gem in the Lake District. Just 5 miles from Windermere and so secluded. We didn't see any other people during our stay and we were surrounded by the gorgeous lake side environment which was filled with life and nature. The host was very accommodating too and responded to meet our needs straight away. The hot tub was amazing!

We loved our stay here, my partner booked for my birthday and I would definitely come back|Very cosy and we got some added treats on arrival- prosecco, chocolates and Easter eggs as we came close to Easter which is a lovely touch! We had a hot tub which we wished we could take home with us |Cleanliness was a 10/10, and we had everything we needed|There are lots of information booklets in the lodge and guides too if you need them|The closest shops and restaurants are in Windermere which is a 10 minute drive so very convenient.|The only downside is the hills going into the park but that can't be helped and it wouldn't stop us coming back! Keep in a low gear and you'll have no problems šŸ˜‚

Absolutely perfect. If you are going to stay in the lake district stay here. The location, accommodation and hot tub was wonderful. The little touches were also lovely such as some fresh milk, chocolate and a bottle of prosecco in the fridge on our arrival.

Starting from before we arrived at Avon Wood the customer service went above and beyond, with an introductory text message the day before our stay.

The location is idilic, the surrounding nature of the park has been well conserved. The park doesn’t feel overcrowded in the slightest.

The caravan was beautifully presented, extremely clean and every intricate detail considered. I couldn’t recommend a stay at Avon Wood more. I wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you to the hosts for the fantastic holiday stay you provide.

Have just returned from a wonderful week at The Retreat, Avon Wood, and what a fabulous holiday lodge this is. Our first impression was how green it was – it’s surrounded by trees and shrubs (unfortunately we missed most of the rhododendrons flowering), and with a high fence at the back it’s completely private and not overlooked. The view over to Lake Windermere is stunning. There’s a private drive from the main site road, and a gate which leads to a wide patio area to the front, a large patio with table, chairs and bbq to the side, and a separate area overlooking the lake (a real suntrap – when the sun shines!) with 2 relaxer chairs and hot tub.|Inside, the kitchen area is bright and roomy, with a dining area which seats 4, a large fridge/freezer, gas oven and hob, microwave and dishwasher. The view from the kitchen window would encourage anyone to wash up! There was absolutely everything you could want or need in the kitchen – I kept saying ā€œit won’t have one of theseā€, but it did (actually the only thing I couldn’t find was a pair of salad servers, but there were two large serving spoons …..). To welcome us we found a bottle of bubbly, a box of chocs and a pint of milk in the fridge, as well as an assortment of teabags/coffee/sugars/hot chocolate/sweets in a container on the breakfast bar. |The lounge area has an L-shaped sofa and small armchair, side tables and a large Freesat TV (which worked beautifully – not always the case in holiday homes). Wifi is free and usually pretty good. The French windows look out towards the far side of the lake and the mountains beyond, and the sunsets are wonderful.|There’s an enormous bathroom with large free-standing bath, toilet and double sinks, plus an ensuite shower room with walk-in shower, basin and toilet. Luxury handwash/hand cream/hair & body wash/conditioner/soaps and bath salts are also provided. |Between the ensuite and the large double bedroom there is a walk-in wardrobe/dressing room, where fluffy bathrobes and towelling slippers are provided. There's a proper dressing table with triple mirror and electrical sockets, drawer and cupboard. It’s so refreshing to find a decent area to dry hair/put on make-up in a holiday home (most are designed by men I fear). There's plenty of hanging and shelf space (although no drawers).|The only negative we found (and this is entirely subjective) is that the mattress is VERY firm and 2 of the pillows were also firm, but you can’t suit everyone and we managed well enough. Like Goldilocks, other people may find them just right!|We didn’t see much of Andy, Christine, Valerie and Bill, the owners, as we had nothing to complain about! Andy did come to see to the hot tub every day between 12 and 1, but he was very discreet. The site itself is very well kept, and very quiet (except for a little road noise) and we enjoyed listening to the birds every day (a song thrush, a wren and a pheasant were frequent visitors). Bowness is about 15 mins drive away, with all the shops you could need (Booth’s supermarket is up the hill in Windermere town, but there is a Tesco Express and a Co-op). |All in all we had a fantastic week’s holiday and we will certainly be going back to The Retreat when we want another relaxing, quiet and well-equipped vacation. The best holiday home we've stayed in by far!
