I visited Axe & Square with my friends on Sunday. The place was busy but the staff managed the tables very well. They've been polite and helpful all the time.
Ordering the drinks and food went super smoothly and the requested items were served properly. The food has a good taste and feels fresh. As far as I know some of their ingredients are locally sourced and this feels on the freshness and taste of the food! Will visit this place again and highly recommend it to everybody!

Went in for a quick lunch, the restaurant was fully booked and we sat in the bar area. Even though there was a bit of a wait, the staff and food were incredible. The staff made sure we were taken care of and even though it was busy make it look effortless. The quality of the food was just amazing. If you find yourself nearby anytime soon you must go in

What a great place! I've never head of it but was so pleased to have found this place. Will definitely be back again. The staff were polite and very efficient. The food fantastic! Well presented. Relaxing family atmosphere. And very reasonable prices. The food was so nice we had finished eating before we took any photos! Sorry

The way this pub has been renovated is great, and it seems to be well maintained. The food and drinks were good (one of the drinks is pictured and was fab for an alcohol free option). The menu seemed to be to have a few samey items on, such as a chicken strips starter was available as a main (slightly differing descriptions though, but the main was essentially a bigger version of the starter with accompaniments), and chilli jam seems to be fashionable.
We hadn't pre-ordered, which may have helped us, as the service was quite slow, and we were forgotten about a couple of times when offered menus.
We were sat in a small area of the restaurant part, and unfortunately a teenage group were seated in the same area that were quite loud, up and down every few mins, and their conversations weren't really appropriate for the young children we had in our group to overhear. If possible, we would ask to be seated in the larger part of the pub on another visit. The other group also opened the windows when they arrived, which wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't for smokers standing directly outside.
Whilst I understand eating out is a lot more of a luxury than it used to be, given the overall atmosphere and location, feedback would be that the drink prices could do with lowering.
We weren't able to park in the car park, but could park for free as it was after 6pm in the small council car park located just behind on the one way system.

1st time visit here. The food was excellent and very tasty. Staff were helpful and friendly and a good atmosphere for a village pub. I would highly recommend a visit here. Prices were great for what we received and they also do a cheaper 2 for £18 if you are on a budget.

Met up with friends on a recommendation, booked a table in advance. Nice selection of drinks, great menu, at good prices. Food came out quickly and nice and hot. All plates cleared,with a big thumbs-up from our party. A massive thank you to the young lady who took our order...she found and brought to us a purse left in the bar area,most grateful. Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic meal here this week, being given a table for two tucked away in a nook for a really quiet evening together. The service was very friendly, everything was served quickly, and the food was just superb. Delicious chicken and leek pie, chunky chips, and the onion rings on the side are always the best. Even the thick gravy was the best we've had! We love this chain of pubs and the Axe & Square has always been the nicest for a meal for 2-4 people with plenty of space between the tables to give the feeling of a private evening. We'll definitely be back again!

Wow! So much more than boring pub food. The taste and presentation were both exceptional as were the very obliging staff who could not do enough for us. We sat outside afterwards planning our Xmas get together there and we were all in agreement. Thank you so much for having us xx
