We were in the Lakeside annexe, which from the outside looked a bit tired, although it had good views over the extensive and attractive grounds. The room was clean and tidy, well equipped and a reasonable size.

Breakfast was very good, although the pastry options were a bit sad. Service was very good, despite it being very busy. In fact all the staff we encountered were welcoming and obliging.

Stayed in Bagden Hall with my children and grandson and I cannot fault the place. Our rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, we all slept like babies on the cozy mattresses.
The location was beautiful, the grounds were neat and lovely to walk through. The staff were ever so obliging and catered to all our needs. They were also very good with my young grandson so I would recommend the place as child friendly. The food was absolutely delicious and kept us very full! We had an absolute wonderful time at Bagden Hall and will definitely be back again!! Highly recommend!!

We stayed in Bagden Hall as we were visiting our family in a neighbouring village. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, The staff at Bagden accommodated a full / through clean of the room as our son has allergies.
The location is beautiful. The staff were ever so obliging and catered to all our needs. The breakfast was hearty! We had wonderful time at Bagden Hall and will definitely be back again!!

We have stayed at several Classic Lodge hotels and this was one of the best. The service and food were excellent, even when the hotel was busy with a wedding. We stayed in the Lakeside Annexe with good views of the grounds, and really enjoyed a peaceful, relaxing stay for my birthday. We recommend the Romance package.

Beautiful location. Right back off the road so no noise. Stayed in one of the lodges as wedding party in main hotel rooms. But very comfortable and clean. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Nice bar to relax in during the day or evening! Would definitely recommend.

We stayed at Bagden Hall for one night as we were attending a nearby party. Our stay was just perfect. Bagden Hall itself is very lovely, feels like a country house. Staff are all super friendly and accommodating. We stayed in one of the suites which was very comfortable. The bathroom had a shower above the slipper bath and my only request would be for there to be somewhere to put your towel and a shelf for toiletries while you are in the shower.

First impressions are so important and the approach to Bagden Hall is like something out of a fairy tale (when the sun is shining, anyway). The long, windy drive takes you through a magical wooded glade then widens out into the majestic hotel grounds of the hall itself. There's plenty of car parking space to the right. |Our room (17) was on the ground floor of the main hall. It was a large double with a king size bed and spacious bathroom. The room, 'traditionally' decorated in damask wallpaper and curtains, had plenty of storage and enough space for two. The mattress was firm and the two pillows OK but not enough to support the neck for reading in bed. I struggled to open the bedroom windows as they were beyond my reach (I'm 5' 6'') so had I been on my own I'd have needed to stand on a chair to open them. That's the old window design, though, not the hotel's fault! The bathroom could have benefitted from a magnifying mirror and a caddy for soap and shampoo in the shower for those of us who prefer to use their own toiletries. For those who don't mind, body wash is provided. |Although it is impressive from the outside and all the staff were friendly and personable, I can see why Bagden Hall is a 3* not a 4* - the rooms are a little tired in places. However, the reasonable room price reflects this (ours was £90 per night). We didn't opt for breakfast or evening meal. |Location-wise, it's ideal for anyone wanting to explore the wonderful surrounding countryside. Nearby Denby Dale has some great shops and cafes and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Wakefield Mining Museums are a must-see. I can recommend The George pub at Upper Denby for pies.

I had a lovely two night break at Bagden Hall. Lauren and Sam on reception were really helpful when I arrived. My room was on the first floor but due to arthritis I couldn't manage the stairs and my luggage so Lauren changed my room and Sam helped me with my bags. No quibbling.
I had my dog with me and was able to leave her safety in the room whilst I had a quiet breakfast without her in the dining room. Totally dog-friendly and the walks were definitely a doggy delight (as were the sausage treats I took back after breakfast!).
Although I didn't need my room servicing, the two chamber people (one man one lady) were really helpful and friendly when I asked for more milk, tea and biccies.
The barman on duty on Friday night was really friendly; in fact every single member of staff I encountered was friendly and welcoming and that is really important when staying alone.
I felt very welcome. The breakfast was lovely, the bath was lovely and the grounds were lovely! My only slight criticism would be that the decor in the rooms was a bit dated and tired and soft-closing doors would be good as when they are let go they do slam really loud and gave me and the dog a few frights when we were dropping off to sleep.
