Very disappointing.

Had a lovely lunchtime meal, plates were cleared away and then we went to order dessert and were told the chefs had left and we were unable to order any. We had children with us who had dessert included with their meal and had to explain that we had already paid for their desserts.

The owner, an elderly women, came over and was maybe the rudest person I have encountered in a pub. She tried to justify the chefs leaving, by saying that other restaurants weren't even open today, which came across as nonsensical ramblings of a desperate person.

The rest of the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful, the food was a bit bland and lacking in any flavour and the parking is a free for all.

All of this could have avoided if we were told the kitchen would be closing soon, if we wanted to order any desserts and as locals we will not be returning and will share our "experience" with others.

Best food in Corte Castle! Chicken burger and fish and chips were amazing, friendly service and proper classic pub atmosphere. Great beers and great selection on the menu. Had food at the other pub across the road and does not compare. Thank you! Delicious!

From the moment of booking our experience of The Bankes Arms could not have been more positive. They were especially helpful over my young daughter’s multiple dietary requirements & there were a range of options on the menu suitable for her. We all had delicious roasts that were clearly made with top quality ingredients but will definitely come back again as there were numerous other dishes on the menus we would like to have tried! Service was excellent & everything contributed to a really special family day out. Thank you George & all The Bankes Arms team!

We had a fantastic meal at The Bankers Arms! The BBQ and burgers were cooked to perfection, and the portions were generous. The staff was attentive and friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. Great value for money - we can't wait to return!

Delightful in every way. Popped in here on the off chance as we had come for Corfe castle illuminations and got the wrong night 🤦‍♀️we were greeted by an absolute angel (May/Mae?) who was clearly rushed off her feet but still had a smile for everyone. Nothing was too much trouble even though we were being annoying and indecisive. We had some lovely food and the atmosphere was delightful, we were so impressed. By the time we were leaving another server had joined May and she was also lovely. We can’t wait to go back and try the roast as it looked delicious. Thank you May and team, you’re brilliant!☺️

My wife and I have nearly stopped going out as we always leave disappointed, knowing we could have cooked better, tastier food at a fraction of the cost.

This restaurant has renewed our faith.

It was simply fantastic.

We were out for a drive and found this wonderful place by accident. There was a special Sunday roast menu, so we chose from there.

I chose the crispy pork belly, it was fork tender and delicious with a strip of the best crackling I have had in ages

My wife had the roast beef, which was cooked perfectly.

We ordered a side of cauliflower cheese and there was easily enough for two, we also ordered a side of chipolata sausages and there were tons in the bowl

We could hardly walk it was so filling.

Sorry about the photos, it was so nice I started mine before thinking about taking a picture - Oops

The pub had a good ambience and the architecture And decor were very interesting I keeping with the whole atmosphere. Food was good and tasty….next time I will try the Octoberfest ! Thouroughly recommended.

What a beautiful building externally. Parking is available if you turn passed the pub and left into the area behind its pub garden - a beautiful place to sit and have breakfast if the weather is good. You can see the castle from the building and the location is prime amongst the village. This does mean you hear every conversation or car through the old windows, however.|The building and its rooms are in desperate need of some renovation, unfortunately. The FOH team are fab though, giving us access to our room early so we could get dressed for a wedding and just generally being really lovely throughout. |Breakfast was included in our room price and was probably one of the best we’ve ever had. Food piping hot (even the toast!) and portions great.|Needs some money spent on it and could be an idyllic place to stay.
