My wife and I booked one night’s stay at this lovely guest house which is very well placed for shows at the Barbican centre and a short walk into the main shopping area of York. Durga the proprietor was courteous and welcoming. On arrival he was ready to greet us with warmth. We quickly went through a list of items we would request for the following morning’s breakfast. The only item my wife would have liked was some baked beans which were not an option. Breakfast was very good nonetheless and plentiful. I can highly recommend this establishment for anyone wanting a comfortable room with everything necessary for a pleasant stay in the city of York.

Had a fantastic stay here. Having stayed at many different high end guest houses and hotels over the years they could all learn a lot from this host. Durga was so welcoming and couldn't have done enough for you. Superb breakfast and lovely clean accommodation . If you appreciate good service and like your privacy respected at the same time, don't hesitate to book here. It's a great location too!

Greeted at the door by a very pleasant and helpful host who took our payment and breakfast order. The house is spotlessly clean. Shown to our room which was also spotless. To say we were in a room next to the road the road noise wasn’t overly bearing. |It was certainly service with a smile and would definitely recommend. Breakfast is good with a great selection. Will definitely return if we stay in York again.

This is a delightful B&B situated right next to The Barbican Centre so perfect for theatre trips. There are a few parking spaces but the road outside is derestricted parking. The family who run it are a wonderful Nepalese (ex Gurkha) family and when we arrived, we were greeted by name, a personal touch which extended to breakfast the next morning. It's an old Victorian guest house and they have tried to retain the period features, decor and pictures in the house. Don't expect tip top mod cons, but there was everything we needed for a perfect night's stay after the theatre, and lots of hot water! Toiletries, lovely fluffy towels and a comfy bed. Breakfast was nicely served and nothing was too much trouble for the couple's delightful daughter who was front of house. Would we stay again? For a trip to The Barbican definitely yes.

Family run guest house, who were very friendly and welcoming. |Everywhere was spotlessly clean. |The bed was comfortable and even tho close to the road, the secondary glazing cut out the traffic noise. Parked on their little drive for our 2 day stay as we walked everywhere.|The room had plenty of wardrobe space and drawers, lovely toiletries supplied. |We ate at a cafe on the first morning - a 10 minute walk away ... but paid for brekkie on 2nd day ... really enjoyed the cooked full English- plenty of it |Such a lovely family who couldn't do enough for their guests ... we'll definitely be back.

We we're warmly greeted on arrival by Sabina. Very polite friendly and helpful. Our rooms were a nice size, very comfortable bed, tv, tea and coffee with biscuits, hair dryer and a lovely en suite bathroom, all immaculately clean and tidy. Free off the road car parking Tastefully decorated to suit the victorian period of its time, a cosy friendly atmosphere. And close to the city centre , beautifully situated.

Stayed between Christmas and new year,a very warm welcome from the owner. Lovely spacious double room, everything we needed for our 2 night stay. T.V, Kettle, Tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, shower gel, shampoo, hand wash, fluffy white towels, hair dryer. Plenty of space to hang and store clothes. We loved that you could book for breakfast at an extra cost if you wanted to, we chose to eat out as we are not early risers, but I believe the breakfast is lovely. You could choose to have your room serviced or not, if you didn't want to be disturbed, perfect! Car parking available, which was great, the owner came to show us where to park the car safely. Short walk into York centre, ideally located. Overall we had a fantastic stay here and we are looking to return later this year. Thank you!!
