What a lovely place. We were made to feel very welcome and shown to the garden room which is separate from the main house. Spacious light and airy room, spotlessly clean and it even had a fridge and microwave, iron and ironing board. (Not that we needed to cook, with the Red Lion just across the road, serving delicious food and a complementary glass of wine when we showed them our Barn Lodge key fob.)|I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet getaway in beautiful surroundings.||

We stopped here en route from home in Kent to hotel in the Peak District. Attractive quiet village (not near main road) in deeply rural fenland - golden wheat fields, dark green woods (trees everywhere) is pure Constable, although he lived much further south.||||Stamford is a beautiful town, all honey-coloured stone, and unlike so many other historic towns, it has preserved its architectural (mainly Georgian) coherence. It feels like Oxford without the attitude, or high prices. Attractive riverside.||||Big problem - heavy traffic everywhere, including town centre.||||||Burghley House nearby is a palatial stately home - well worth a visit.||||Michael is a friendly and welcoming host at Barn Lodge. We had a twin room (hard to find - we are two friends, not a couple) in a little house next to the main house. Room light, bright and attractive (and of course spotlessly clean), but modern and plain, so not suitable if you are looking for romantic charm.||||Good bathroom with bath, small shower over bath.||||||Very peaceful, only big drawback was not having breakfast. Fridge is provided, so you could organise your own basic breakfast, but nowhere except washbasin to wash plates etc. We just made tea in our room, and went to Stamford for breakfast, where we liked Central cafe, with good egg dishes (but no fruit, only juice). Parking is not easy in Stamford.||||||We tried Market Deeping (pub) one day, but Stamford breakfast was better.||||||Evening meal (not Sunday or Monday) at pub across road was quite good, and cheap.

Was appointed to the twin bed separate annex. Modern clean, spacious and comfortable without frills. Good value. Provided with fridge and TV (not b&b). |Good pub opposite.|Burghley horse trials 5 miles away and traffic is easiest from the east. |Note although king street is two way, the road exits to the main road south but you cannot enter King street from that end. |No hesitation to book again.

Stayed here Saturday just gone and the owner was very welcoming. The room was lovely. Only thing I would say is they only have twin rooms so not great for couples. But very comfortable beds and great sized room. There was also a fridge in the room and breakfast was laid out for us to have at our leisure.

Stayed here for a week whilst working in Peterborough. It was a nice stay and a very friendly owner. Can chat a bit.|I was greeted on arrival and was given a large room upstairs in their actual house.|You had to walk through their living quarters to get upstairs.|Bedroom was nice and large but very thin walls, could hear every conversation and tv in the house. At 9pm every night the heating went off. When I asked the next day the owner said yes it always goes off around that time. It was freezing. |The bed was a double but only had a single duvet on it which amazed me.|Good points were large tv and fridge.|Great views and a pub over the road.|Not much storage space apart from hanging stuff.|There was a dining table and chairs and a couple of wicker chairs. Could do with an arm chair or 2 seater sofa in there.|Was an ok stay and if in area would go back there

Was given a ground floor room attached to the house, very large and comfortable. Tea and coffee provided but it wasn`t replenished over the 3 days that we stayed. Bathroom was adequate but couldn`t get the shower to give any hot water. 2 towels provided which wasn`t ideal, small bath towels, no hand towels. There was a fridge and washing machine in the room, quite useful. The wardrobe space was in the bathroom, not sure why as the bedroom is plenty big enough for a proper wardrobe! Couldn`t get a good nights sleep as there was too much noise from the room above. Very pricey for just a bed for the night, no breakfast is available.

My daughter and I stayed in a twin bedded room adjacent to the main house. The owner seemed very strange as soon as we arrived and it took 20 minutes for him to leave the room. I asked whet the door was in there and was told it was a door into the main house that was kept locked, which it was not. He then locked from his side but we had no way of locking it our side. We went out for the evening leaving the lights on so it would not bee too dark to see our way on return. When we came in I saw straight away the door had been opened because I had left my shoe and bag against it joking about we could see if any had come in and they had been pushed to one side.We then noticed the blind had been pulled down in the kitchen area, the bedside lamp turned on,main light turned off and all our things including our handbags had been gone through !!!! My daughter freaked out !! It was too late to head home over 70miles in the dark and we did consider sleeping in the car. I stayed up while she got a few hours sleep to drive us home. We were absolutely disgusted and shell shocked he would do that. There was no reason to invade our privacy like that.I shall be reporting it to the council and other authorities. Very nasty experience and hope to warn others especially women who may have been considering staying there !!!

Good quality at very high prices. No real butchery yet, and bread sells out in the first hour.
