Thank you, Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel. You saved my special birthday celebration and I will be eternally grateful.|We thought we would push the boat out and stay at a fancy hotel in Cheltenham for my 50th. |It was £380 a night and we expected it to be good. We booked for five nights. |We couldn’t wait to check out, it was an absolute disaster. For the record, it was Ellenborough Park.|Anyway, we contacted the Bath Spa and got through to Gaelle on reception. She could not have been more helpful. |She booked us a dog-friendly room for three nights. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.|It’s about a 15-minute walk from the heart of the city and is relaxing and comfortable, the staff are extremely attentive and the leisure club is outstanding.|Our room on the ground floor had a small balcony and convenient access to a spacious and well-manicured private garden.|The room was quiet, tastefully decorated, airy and clean. The bathroom had a huge bath with a powerful hand-held shower.|We stayed on a room-only basis and took dinner in the hotel on my birthday. |It was a memorable occasion, the food was excellent, superbly presented and reasonably priced for a hotel of this stature.|As dogs are not permitted in the main restaurant, we were offered three other areas to eat and chose the grand drawing room, a magnificent venue. It was like having private dining!|The leisure club is another excellent feature, especially the large outdoor hydrotherapy pool which is spacious and very relaxing.|I would love to know if there is a better value-for-money hotel than the Bath Spa in the West Country? |Thank you to every member of staff for helping to make our stay so delightful. We will definitely go back – and soon!

Overall a decent stay here, however I would say there are a lot of areas that could be improved. The spa area is a very nice feature however you can constantly hear kids screaming and shouting as they are playing in the indoor pool. Moreover a couple of the Saunas are out of order and a lot of the showers don’t seem to work properly either. The service here however was perfect and we very much enjoyed our room and breakfast. I just believe that the Spa area needs a major refresh.

I was a solo female traveller arriving for a work conference. I arrived the day before at about 1:30pm. I was unable to check in so I went for a walk around the surrounding area which was lovely. My room was on the ground floor and very close to the spa, I'm guessing because of this it was incredibly quiet at night which I appreciated! I also felt safe at all times.||There was plenty of space in the room to work and it had every facility I needed inc: kettle, coffee machine, table, hair dryer, robe, slippers, toiletries. In the evening I did not want to eat in the restaurant, and room service was a £10 tray fee so I decided to eat in the lounge. As there was no space I was placed in the little annexe in the lobby opposite the lounge and as an introvert this made me very happy indeed! ||In the morning I went for a swim and enjoyed the facilities in the spa before heading back to my room to get ready||My room was a little tired and needed a repaint and refurb in the bathroom especially. ||I decided not to have breakfast as I did not see the point paying £28 for the privilege of eating breakfast. I couldn't see any option for a lighter breakfast. Oh and my fridge did not work so the fruit pot I placed in there for my breakfast was warm and inedible! I also couldn't get the room cold enough but frankly that could be my age!||An uber from the train station in Bath Spa was approx. £10

In my opinion this should not be advertised as a 5 star hotel. On arrival, the drive up to the hotel was impressive. On entering the building, it looked lovely. Whilst checking in, We noticed how dirty the door was behind the reception. Why wouldn't this be kept clean when it's the first thing customers see when checking in. We were hugely disappointed with the cleanliness of our room, it was tired looking, there were scuff marks on the walls and chipped paint on the bathroom door. The bar is a nice cosy room, but the service was disappointing. Most items requested by customers were not stocked, and staff were back and forth getting items from a storeroom, which then built up a queue. It was very unorganised. Breakfast was served until 10.30 so we arrived at 9.30 to a large queue of people waiting to be seated, we waited over 10 minutes. It was complete chaos, unorganised, and staff had no direction. They were constantly being asked by customers where their food was, mainly toast. There was a good selection of food so once we served ourselves we ordered our toast. Three times we had to remind staff we were waiting for toast. By the time it arrived, our food was cold. It would make sense to have toasters for guests to make their own toast, which would take the pressure off the staff. Extending breakfast to 11 may also reduce the queue waiting times. The staff were friendly but so unorganised and were lacking direction. On checking out, 2 other customers were complaining to the manager about the service at breakfast, so hopefully he will make some changes to improve the service. This is the most unorganised hotel we have ever visited it was very disappointing and we expected better with it being listed as a 5 star hotel. On the back of our review we will not be returning.

We celebrated our wedding here yesterday, on 19/10/2024! It was truly spectacular. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue. The staff, food, spa, and accommodations were incredible, and we felt our family was well cared for throughout the entire weekend. The food was absolutely delightful! ?||We will certainly be back to celebrate our anniversary ❤️||A heartfelt thank you to Katie, Alex, Mudit and Dominic; we truly appreciate all your efforts in making our day so memorable! ?|||Mr & Mrs Jones

Bath Spa Hotel has become my go-to place whenever I need to unwind and recharge. I’ve stayed here multiple times, and each visit is just as relaxing and enjoyable as the last. What really stands out to me is the staff – they’re consistently friendly, attentive, and genuinely care about making my stay perfect every time. It feels like coming home when I walk through the doors.

The rooms are always immaculate, comfortable, and beautifully designed, with lovely views of the gardens. Every detail is thoughtfully taken care of, making it easy to relax and feel pampered.

The spa experience is top-notch. I can never get enough of the thermal pools and treatments – it’s the perfect way to de-stress and let the world melt away. No matter how many times I’ve been, I always leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

The dining here is excellent too, with consistently great meals and a breakfast spread that I look forward to every time. I love the peaceful setting and the short distance from Bath’s center, making it a convenient yet serene getaway.

Each stay reaffirms why I keep coming back – it’s always worth it, and I can’t wait for my next visit!

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Bath Spa Hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome, and the entire hotel had such a calm, luxurious atmosphere. My room was beautiful – spacious, spotless, and with a lovely view of the gardens. The bed was so comfortable that I didn’t want to leave it in the morning!

The spa is the real highlight here. The thermal pools and treatments were heavenly, and I left feeling completely relaxed. The restaurant also didn’t disappoint – the food was delicious, and there was plenty of choice at breakfast.

The location is perfect too, just a short distance from Bath’s main attractions, but peaceful enough to feel like a true escape. Overall, everything about my stay exceeded expectations. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I have just returned from “my spa day” with my daughter (booking in name of Whiting) at your hotel and feel the need to share feedback with you given this was my daughter’s first spa experience and we were very disappointed.

Firstly the robes that were provided felt like they had shrunk and barely covered us. I am a size 14 and my daughter 10/12 so not exactly large. I would recommend you invest in new robes particularly when you are charging £128 each for a day spa experience.

Secondly when we arrived the main place to relax was by the side of your indoor pool. However no where did you advise that there would be a children’s swimming session taking place and so far from relaxing.

Then the temperature everywhere we went was very cold. In a spa, with often wet swimsuits you expect the temperature to be warm.

All in all the spa is in need of investment as very tired and we were very disappointed and so wanted to share this feedback with you in the hope that you can use it to improve the experience for other guests.

The bright spot I have to say were your very friendly staff.
