Amazing hotel. Comfortable. Clean. Great eco credentials. We stayed in a lodge, which was spacious and full of character. Fantastic bathroom. |Really liked the restaurant and pub. |The attached observatory was also an interesting experience, even on the (disappointingly) cloudy night we were there. | Would happily stay there again.

This hotel has won many awards mainly for its eco credentials but everything about it deserves an award. Fantastic rooms, great staff and lovely food, ||The food is well presented and delicious with produce being sourced locally or grown in its own gardens. The bar is well stocked with a good selection of ales and spirits.||We stayed in a lodge which was spacious, well heated, very comfortable and had everything needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Based on previous stays we can say that the rooms in the main building are also very comfortable.||The staff are very friendly, attentive and nothing is too much trouble for them. A special thanks to Denisa and Dan for the first class restaurant and bar service respectively.||The hotel is in a quiet village about 10 miles from Hexham and it is always a pleasure to stay here. Already looking forward to returning in 2025!

The 'Luxury Lodge' is the way to go here. |Whether solo or with partner, you'll love it! (Very Dog friendly too)|The staff? Fabulous! each & every one of them. Bar, dining, house-team - outstanding. The 'luxury lodge ' though, Jacuzzi bath, electric Velux, fridge, space, sofa and a Sunrise view, which when and if, you venture across the courtyard feel car park, look through the wall over looking the garden at Breakfast time ... Sublime|Parking == easy (EV too x4 in total) plus more parking up the 'slope' πŸ™‚ |Thank you to ALL that looked after me during my brief stay in this really Nice setting, the village is very worthy of an explore! I loved it, felt 'at home' and am positive about the experience. Thank You

What a great place to stay. It has the feel of a cosy inn (we visited for four nights at the end of November/start of December) with cosy accommodation. Our room (number 1) was fairly small but very well appointed and equipped and we enjoyed it hugely. Also available (at extra cost) are the fantastic cabins at the rear (we took a sneaky peek inside one). The dining areas are stylish, light and open and the food is very good indeed. But the crowning glory are the staff - everyone was welcoming and friendly and some especially happy to enjoy a joke with us. There's plenty of parking and, of course, the observatory at the back, where we booked star gazing sessions on each of our four nights in the hope of seeing the northern lights. The lights didn't oblige, but seeing stars and planets through a large telescope in a dark sky area was inspiring. The sessions are run by an associated but separate company and I'll review them elsewhere.

We stayed here with our dog enroute both up and down the country on a recent holiday. Both rooms were clean and tidy. In the first the bathroom could've done with a bit of refresh and the overlarge bath seemed unnecesary, was too large for my wife and took up a but too much of the bathroom. A minor point and we would certainly stay again probably as a longer stay as there is so much to do in this part of the world.

We stayed at Battlesteads for two nights and enjoyed great accommodation (in one of the very spacious lodges) good food and drinks and a wonderful experience at the Dark Sky Observatory.||Highlights were the good range of beers and other drinks and the friendly and efficient service. We had food from the A la Carte menu and one of the tasting menus, and they were all great and good value - and it’s good to see so much grown on site and sourced locally. Don’t miss the Observatory experience if you stay here - it’s fun and fascinating.

First time eating and the food was fabulous good range and also the dessert hit the spot.
There was 8 of us on a Saturday night but it wasn't busy as later in the evening and only dropped 1 start as sometimes we wondered if they had forgotten about us service wise. However, the servers were very friendly and the complimentary soup taster for all was a very kind gesture and a yummy one at that!
