An absolutely wonderful place to stay, the house is gorgeous and right in the centre of town but on a quiet enough street the main shopping streets don't affect the nights sleep.
Annie is absolutely lovely, she's very relaxed and warm, she got up and made us a lovely breakfast and stayed with us in the kitchen chatting, it's not like a hotel at all, it's like staying with a friend.
The room I stayed in was clean, well decorated, comfortable and for the price, absolutely excellent.
Parking is a little restricted but that's the sacrifice for staying so close to town. Baye house will be my first choice if I come back to Colchester.

I rang this place to enquire about a room. Immediately, upon hearing my foreign accent, the lady owner told me coldly ,she had no availability at all
I tried to ring later but she didn't bother to answer her phone. This is a truly hateful and xenophobic woman .

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay, Annie was so warm and welcoming, she really is a lovely lady, and the house is stunning, sympathetic styling of the period, lots of original features and of course the gorgeous cat! He was very talented in making you feel welcome! Definitely recommend, and would certainly stay here again!

If you like a quirky welcoming laid back b&b, you're in for a treat. Annie is a marvellous host. I visited with three close friends for a birthday treat and Annie even gave my friend a birthday card!
The house is in the Dutch quarter of Colchester, so obviously very old with floors that are eccentric and uneven. The interior design is stylishly mix and match which I loved. There's a fab garden with furniture to lounge on or a lovely sitting room to relax in with a glass of wine before you head out to any one of several restaurants within easy walking distance.
Breakfast is superb and we had a truly wonderful time. I will definitely return.

What a stunning beautiful house! It has bags of character, including sloping floors and wood panelling. We stayed in the room with the ensuite, and it was just lovely. We arranged it for room only but had use of the lounge and kitchen. The ensuite is small but functional.
If you're looking for something with some substance, something a little different, then this is for you.
It has a beautiful garden and you can hire the whole house.
It is 2 mins walk into the centre of town.
Owner and staff are just lovely. Enjoy!

This was one of my best finds looking for a place to stay whilst visiting Colchester. Annie is certainly one of the most pleasant and helpful hosts I have ever had the pleasure to meet ( pot of tea on arrival after a long journey). The house is absolutely charming and our room was comfortable and clean (with private bathroom). Location perfect; minutes from the High St and shopping with plenty of restaurants/caffes nearby. There are other points worth mentioning, but know that I would recommend Baye House in a heartbeat!

I stayed here for one night and thoroughly recommend Baye House and its lovely owner, Annie. Prior to my trip I made contact with Annie and she was very helpful, sending brilliant instructions about how to find her property. I had a spacious room ( en suite) in her tasteful house and was made to feel so welcome. Breakfast was delicious. Thank you Annie for such a comfortable and interesting stay. I enjoyed meeting you.

Stunning home with brilliant rooms at a great price in the centre of Colchester. The best part however was Annie's hosting - she was very lovely and kind. The perfect host, I shall be staying again!
