Firstly, ignore the bad reviews! I'm very critical having worked in hotels & being a customer care manager & I loved it! There's plenty of parking, which is free if u register in reception, which they remind you of on arrival. All the staff here are friendly and very helpful. We were upgraded & our rooms (newly refurbished) were wonderful. Comfortable beds, spacious bathroom, loads of wardrobe space, & free WiFi. Sky tv in rooms for free with a bath & shower. Rooms are not cleaned daily but can be if you let reception know. Breakfast is lovely with a great variety. We ate in the bar both nights & we loved it. The prices are very reasonable! The decor creates a truly relaxing atmosphere. The hotel is, at worst, a 10-minute walk into Canterbury. It is a little tricky to find as it's located on a busy road & the signage is not so easy to see. Shout out to Mohan, the duty manager, a wonderful human & fantastic at his role. Would I return absolutely! Our rooms were quiet, & it was a faultless stay. So much so I didn't want to travel back home to Suffolk

First time staying at this beautiful property was undergoing refurbishments so my room was brand-new. Hannah on reception greeted me with a warm welcome and even helped with assistance with my girlfriend’s poorly arm and I needed some ice. The hotel is in a lovely secluded spot and I was really impressed with the reception and bar area I will definitely be returning and thank you Hannah for all your help

We stayed here for two nights in May 2025. The hotel itself is nice, the refurbished parts like the bar and reception are really nice, and we stayed in a refurbished room. The outside area really let it down for us, the courtyard needs cleaning and weeding badly and the old stone furniture needs replacing, which is a shame as the grounds have the potential to be a really lovely feature. The room itself was a good size, really clean except for several large orange stains on the new carpet. The bed was very firm, we have a firm mattress at home but this one was a lot firmer, to the point I woke up several times in the night with a numb shoulder. The pillows were very hard too, we had three hard pillows and one soft, so we called reception to ask for another soft pillow. The night time receptionist told us they only had one type of pillow, so when we said we had two different in the room he reluctantly said he would bring one up. We got the weirdest pillow I’ve ever seen, it was almost like it was folded inside the sealed case, making it small and lumpy, it was rock hard so we didn’t end up using it. |The shower was really poor, the water pressure was non existent! Literally trickled out. |Breakfast was nice, the eggs could have been better the yolk was rock hard. There isn’t anywhere to get any water in the hotel after breakfast finishes except for the expensive glass bottled water from behind the bar, so the hotel could benefit from installing water coolers for guests to use. We also didn’t have our tea tray replenished on the second day, we had to go and ask reception for some more.

This is the ideal place to stay, within walking distance of the centre of Canterbury. Set in its own well tended grounds, our room was very clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was reliable and hot. ||We had pizzas for an evening meal that were delicious, and there was a good range of hot and cold foods for breakfast.||All the staff were polite and friendly. One minor glitch with the Aircon was quickly rectified to our satisfaction.||The lounge/bar has recently decorated to a high standard, and we really enjoyed the relaxing ambience of the hotel.||Many thanks to all the management and staff for a relaxing comfortable stay!

We had a nice overnight stay. The young people on reception were very good and helpful as we are almost 80 years old.The room was very good and newly renovated. The bed was very hard and did not get a good sleep.|The bar was nicely renovated but lacked any ambience. It was very quiet and could have done with some background music. Evening meal was in the bar area and menu was as pub food at restaurant price.A glass med size house wine with a shot of lemonade £8.70.Breakfast was in the dining area and was buffet.fairly good offering’s.Coffee was undrinkable cold ,half cup, milky. It was a shame as the hotel is good and great for visiting Canterbury.would I go back .yes .

Visited with a group of friends. Old fashioned hotel with a number of refurbished rooms. Good sized room with shower over bath. Only serving breakfast although there is a bar menu. Staff friendly and helpful. About 10-15 minute walk into town centre. Wi-Fi good in room.

Beautiful modern bathroom, very well presented bedroom, spacious, comfortable. Attractive reception area (staffed 24hr), clean and tidy throughout the hotel.
Very comfy bed, quilt, and pillows! Could sleep in here every single night.
Free car parking. Hotel takes a £50 'holding' payment on check-in, that's in addition to paying for the room?
2x chairs, king bed, wardrobe, iron & board, hairdryer. USB sockets. Kettle with lovely size mugs for tea.
Perfect bedside lamps with reading lights.
Would have had breakfast here, but too pricey ££.
Picked up the town map on the check-in, and there's a cake shop and cafe with 10% discount vouchers, so I will try them tomorrow instead.
15 mins walk to the town (of two halves) Cobbles and cathedral to the left, shops and roads to the right. Pricey parking so walk or taxi.
