I regret to say that our recent reservation at the Village Hotel Bexley was extremely disappointing. The experience was marred by a significant issue that left us stranded in the middle of the night.|After an enjoyable evening out, we returned to the hotel at 12.20 am only to find that we could not get the external door open via the key card we were given, as we found out later the door had been locked from the inside. Despite repeated attempts, the door would not budge. We immediately contacted the hotel and were put in touch with the owner, 'Lucky'. He assured us that he would be there in 10 minutes to resolve the issue.|However, 10 minutes turned into 20, then 30, and then 40. Despite our repeated calls and increasing frustration standing out in the cold, Lucky continued to tell us he would be there in "another 10 minutes". It became apparent that he had no intention of coming to help us.|My wife’s medication was in the room, and she needed to take them that evening, he was not interested, kept saying he would be there in 10 minutes. An hour later and it was clear he had no intention in coming out to assist.|As a result, we were forced to find alternative accommodation at 1.15am in the morning. This not only disrupted our night but also left us feeling deeply disappointed, distressed and let down by the hotel's management.|The next morning, we returned to the hotel and explained our predicament to the receptionist, making it clear that we expected a full refund. She contacted the owner ‘Lucky’, as she did not have the authority but he refused to speak with us, leaving us feeling completely disregarded and disrespected.|The lack of responsiveness and accountability from the hotel's management was shocking and unacceptable. This experience left a sour taste, and we would strongly advise against staying at the Village Hotel Bexley. The way this situation was handled shows a complete lack of concern for guests and their well-being, and we urge the management to take customer service more seriously in the future.|We did get a refund, less the booking fee, but no apology for the inconvenience or any concern for our wellbeing, didn’t care where we did stay, or about my wife’s health.|Also as a footnote, I am sure there should be a member of staff on duty or in the establishment at night to ensure customers safety re fire risk, for example under the ‘Occupiers Liability Act 1957 & 1984’

I had a bit of trepidation after reading some of the reviews on here, but I needn't have worried. We needed to stay a night in Bexley as we were attending a party. The bigger hotels were a bit of a way out of the centre, and this one was ideal for the railway station.||Anyway, it's a quirky little place and was clearly once a pub, so it's a listed building with lots of funny little architectural quirks. ||The owner met us when we arrived and sorted out our keys and gave us information about local eateries where they offer discount for guests. The lobby was clean and welcoming.||Our room was super clean and well appointed. Two thin pillows and two thick pillows which really pleased us as we have very different pillow needs! A king size bed (very comfortable), tea and coffee facilities, toiletries and a lovely hot shower.||We were overlooking the High Street, but as we didn't get back until 2am, we certainly weren't bothered by any noise, and there was no noise on the Sunday morning when we woke up.||Check out was simple and we dropped our keys in the box before leaving.||We have recommended this hotel to friends who may need to stay in the area, and we will certainly use it again.

This is very much a budget place to stay but it is comfortable and quiet. I stayed in a single room which had a very good heater, a small desk and a small en suite with shower.|The room was dusty on arrival but this was addressed next day.|The cleaner was sick while I was there which meant that bed making and tea changes were not done one day but the proprietor texted me to make me aware. He is very helpful and very communicative on the phone.|There is no place to eat or drink here - it is simply rooms. The area is nice and there are no cheap and cheerful chain places to eat which is pleasant and rare (but comes at cost if you’re having to eat out).|The place is advertised as no parking but parking is available for free on request. I wish I’d known as I paid locally for parking at some expense and this was needless in the end.|An accommodating and good choice. It misses a star due to the cleaning issues but this is by no means a dirty or nasty place. It is a good choice on a budget but there is a trade off.

What a nice place! The staff is very hospitable and helpful, the room was clean and came with everything I needed.|There is good pubs and cafes within walking distance, the village itself and the surroundings are beautiful. Also transportation to and from the city or the airport is convenient.

Inept and insensitive manager who didn’t care myself, partner and son had barely slept due to a window not shutting on a high street full of bars pumping music and cars revving engines all night long.||After reporting to the manager that the outer window didn’t fully close (a feature of the original windows in the listed building) and the inner double glazed windows used to reduce noise wouldn’t lock, we were told nothing could be done but a refund would be discussed in the morning.||I wedged cushions between the two windows to minimise the noise but the noise still boomed through while well after 2am.||Tired and frustrated after very little sleep… the next morning, we were informed of a £15 discount and when we didn’t sound “happy enough” according to Lucky the manager, he retracted the £15 discount and encouraged us to leave a negative review instead.||How Lucky got a job in hospitality will remain a mystery to anyone who has the misfortune of staying in a hotel he manages.||Avoid this hotel if you think a “Family room” should have the ability for the Family to be able to sleep.

Chose to stay here for visit to Bird College in nearby Sidcup rather than in the overpriced big hotels - this was a good decision for a number of reasons.|Hotel itself was clean & comfortable. Room was warm but heating in the en suite was limited to a heated towel rail so it was a little chilly in there.|Check in time ended at 7pm but we couldn't arrive until after that - needed to phone hotel to advise & arrange self-check in, which was relatively straightforward. Proprietor was helpful & welcoming in all communications, but did have to proactively seek out what to do in this circumstance.|Parking is very close by & reasonably priced for a full day - village remains just outside ULEZ so this helped keep costs down further. Buses run regularly through the village so it was easy to then travel into Sidcup to the college.|Hotel has a partnership arrangement with some local eateries where you can get a discount - went to the Mill Cafe just across the road for brunch which was excellent & had very friendly staff.

The hotel is very poor, rooms are small and not only small, they are very small so that you cant really use the bed to sleep or even to turn on the other side. The room was not tidy at all and old enough that you smells the bad smell of the carpet. I would say, there are many different possibilities with other hotels in the area with better rates and better rooms. The man at the reception was not kind enough to let me check out at 1:00 pm and asked to pay for 20 Pounds, this is not fair for such service. I will never uses this hotel anymore. Staff were really not good.
