If we have a family celebration either birthdays anniversaries Christmas or Easter, or any excuse to be honest, we always like to book our favourite table at Biggin Hall. We have been dining here for over 8 years. |We have got to know the staff, who are as attentive and friendly now as they were on our first visit. The food has never disappointed, a delightful ever changing menu of local culinary delights that tantalise both taste buds and eyes alike...the chef is a genius and alwsys produces a master piece. |The ambience is relaxing and very welcoming, especially if you are fortunate to book on a night when local maestro Johnathon is magically bring the baby grand piano to its most majestic best. He lifts and already great atmosphere into a very special evening. |As you can gather we're quite keen on Biggin Hall, and have our next visit booked to celebrate Mothering Sunday.

Valentine weekend was spent at this lovely historic hotel, arriving on a cold winters afternoon with a mist clinging to the Derbyshire hills. |The welcome was warm at check in, and the dog friendly room in the Courtyard was warm and cosy, with a large bathroom containing a modern bath and walk in shower. |The bedroom had a chaise longue sofa and an extra large super king size double bed. |There was a tv and a small fridge together with tea and coffee making facilities. |Dinner and breakfast were served in the restaurant attached to a conservatory. |The three course delicious dinner was elegantly prepared and served by the helpful staff. |Breakfast had a good choice of fresh fruits and cereals continental style and a selection of English breakfast choices.|I can recommend staying here and look forward to visiting again in the summer.

Another year gone by, and we were back to this lovely hotel for 3 magical nights: my birthday, my partner’s birthday and Valentines Night. Each evening was fabulous, and the food, service and ambience were outstanding.|Temperatures didn’t really rise above 1 degree, but we were out and about each day visiting favourite towns and taking in the fresh air.|The Spanish wine pairing evening was great, and we also loved the romantic Valentines dinner (hotel very busy but everything ran smoothly). |The extra touches and warmth of the surroundings really made our birthdays special.|The management and owners should be very proud of their excellent staff.|Just a couple of minor points need attention (mentioned in our review handed in at reception) but buildings so old and characterful always require maintenance - and heating, hot water and electricity are unfailing.|Special thanks to the efficient restaurant staff, so smiley and attentive; the chefs; and also the lovely reception staff.|We can’t wait to return!

We had an overnight stay with dinner, bed and breakfast. We stayed in room 2 in the main building. The hotel has lots of character & our room very comfortable & furnished to a high standard. ||The staff were brilliant & our food was delicious. A surprise bonus is the packed lunch. ||We walked into Hartington footpaths going & road coming back. About 45 minutes each way. ||There are comfortable lounge areas for after dinner drinks & conversation. It would be lovely to sit in the garden on a warm summer’s evening. ||The hotel is in a small hamlet but plenty of walks nearby. Handy for Tissington trail.||I highly recommend a stay or just an evening meal.

A beautiful hotel which 6 grandparents went to for 2 nights. ALL the staff were brilliant and couldn’t have been more helpful.|The rooms were very comfortable, especially the master suite.|All the food was of a very high quality, and the 6 of us are all used to up to Michelin Star Restaurants.|Its location in a hamlet was lovely. Its gardens were full of bulbs in bloom, and great stone walls all around were covered in lovely moss.

The hotel is set in the beautiful peak district countryside, surrounded by fields and beautiful dales to walk in.||The building is an ancient farmhouse, full of character and charm.||We stayed over the weekend having two delicious evening meals. The breakfasts are fantastic and the staff were really friendly.||The room was comfortable and clean with a huge bath tube.||Thanks for a lovely weekend.

I had 4 criteria for finding a special place to stay as a treat to myself for my 60th birthday - olde worlde, 4 poster bed, in the Peak District, not overpriced. Biggin Hall Hotel immediately ticked all those boxes. It is almost a year since losing my mother so I needed a bit of a pick-me-up.

I booked the most expensive suite with the 4 poster bed for 4 nights and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The staff were all extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for me. They even did me a special treat for my birthday (picture attached). All the food was delicious.

The suite was absolutely gorgeous with an enormous bathroom and couldn't believe I'd ever be able to afford to stay in such a beautiful setting (inside and outside).

I can't thank them all enough for helping to make my 60th the best birthday I've ever had. I know my mum would have absolutely loved this place too.

Another of our many visits to our favourite hotel. It's welcoming, comfortable, excellent food, and a picnic provided every day for walkers like ourselves. Biggin-by-Hartington is ideally placed for good walking in the Derbyshire peak district.
