Review for Annie at Bistro Pierre, Coventry

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bistro Pierre in Coventry, and I must say, our experience was made truly exceptional thanks to our amazing waiter, Annie. From the moment we sat down, Annie greeted us with a warm smile and an air of professionalism that set the tone for the evening.

Her attention to detail was impeccable—she made thoughtful menu recommendations based on our preferences and even took the time to explain a few dishes with genuine enthusiasm. She was always attentive without being overbearing, striking the perfect balance that made us feel completely taken care of.

What really stood out was Annie’s ability to make the experience personal. She remembered our names, checked in at just the right moments, and even suggested the perfect wine pairing for our meal. Her passion for great service was evident in everything she did.

The food at Bistro Pierre was delicious, but Annie’s outstanding service elevated the entire evening. It’s rare to find someone who not only excels at their job but also makes you feel truly valued as a guest.

If you’re planning to visit Bistro Pierre in Coventry, I wholeheartedly recommend asking for Annie. She’s a gem and will ensure your experience is nothing short of memorable.

Excellent choice for Italian cuisine. We tried Chicken Liver Parfait, Chicken Normandy, 7oz Fillet Steak, Garlic bread, Fish Fingers and a few drinks. Everything was cooked to perfection and was delicious.

The staff were very very friendly and helpful. It is a pleasant place to dine with family or friends.

A good standard of food at reasonable price but for me not quite as good as it has been elsewhere, notably Leamington Spa and Plymouth. Our absolute favourite starter is French onion soup but they have done something weird with the crouton which is now rock hard whereas they used to float a baguette crouton in the soup. It's just not as tasty. Steak was requested medium rare but came well cooked not even a hint of pink which was disappointing.
We can't even recommend sticky toffee pudding any more. This used to be a wonderful slab of pudding but has been downgraded to a stick toffee madeleine, tiny and dryer in comparison.

The food was good for the price. I was expecting to have a slightly larger portion (hence the 4 stars). The waitress (Aayushi) was friendly and served the food in a very timely manner; good service. In the general the environment was nice but, in my opinion, it was quite clamp for a 10 people gathering. Maybe it would be alright for others. Definitely a recommended place with friendly waitresses and good food (even though it is slightly expensive).

We enjoyed the 6 course taster menu which had good variety and some great flavours. It was also a substantial amount of food split across the dishes - not so tiny that you feel the need to eat more afterwards. Our server Annie was very welcoming and nice, and accommodating by letting us sit outside and then move inside when it got cooler. Sitting outside was great, and the service was impressively prompt which made it all the better.

We had chosen this place because of its attractive dinner menu, its very central location and the good reviews. What we had expected was a bustling French bistro. What awaited us was an empty restaurant, where we were basically the only customers, except for one other table. So it felt bereft of any atmosphere. Maybe we just happened to be there on the wrong day of the week, given that it was a Monday, which tends to be a slow day in general.
The service was good, and I loved the pre-dinner drink (Aperol Spritz). Unfortunately, the chicken I had ordered turned out to be charred in places, and tasted like it as well. So I had to scrape some of the charred bits off. The mash and runner beans were delicious, but not quite enough to make up for the charred meat, which was really a shame.
I assume it was just a bit of bad luck for us that day, and I don't necessarily see it as a reflection of the restaurant in general.
