Just had another great few days at Black Grouse Lodge in Aviemore. What a lovely house. Very clean, beautifully furnished and kitchen is well equipped. Great views over the Cairngorms from spacious back garden. Short walk to centre of town and close to restaurants. Will certainly be back.

We have just finished a weeks break, be staying at Black Grouse Lodge.
Excellent property with a beautiful garden. Loved the small pond with the small trout jumping.
The house was spotless on our arrival and is finished to a good standard.
Great position with stunning views of the Cairngorms. A short walk into the centre of Aviemore.
We had a lovely relaxing time and would recommend the property to anyone wishing to rent in Aviemore.
With regards to previous reviews, we never felt spied upon. If the owners live next door they are extremely discreet.

Had a great time here but once we returned home we were met with a £1,000 bill from the owner for damages that she could not prove was anything to do with us. She said if we didn’t pay up by the deadline she had set that she would raise a claim in the small claims court. She also made a point of mentioning that having a claim lodged against your name could negatively effect your credit rating (regardless of whether you win the case or not) - a very worrying threat considering the member of our group who’s credit card was used to secure the booking was in the process of buying her first property.

Our group have stayed at many lodges over the years and have never once come across any issues like this in the past.

If you decide to book this lodge then I hope you have a spare £1k lying around as it’s very likely that the owner will attempt to threaten and bully it out of you!!

Recently returned from a week's stay at Black Grouse Lodge. House was perfect. 3 of the rooms were ensuite and the other had a large family spa bathroom next door. The location was ideal being close enough to Aviemore centre and also having walks out the back. It's a little more overlooked by other houses that I thought as the latest google road views don't show the finished housing works that have since been completed but this didn't impact the holiday. Heather, the owner, lives next door, which is also not stated in listings, but she is extremely friendly and happy to advise walks and places to visit. She didn't snoop on us as another review stated and we received all of our security deposit back. Only used the hot tub once but it was welcome after the long walk we had done. The views are stunning and not blocked by buildings.

Had a lovely stay in this lodge over new year, it was a nice lodge in a nice area. This was however completely ruined with what followed our stay.
I received a very long email demanding extra money (over £1000) for a number of different things some of which was completely ludicrous eg. Cutlery not being put back in correct drawers.
Some of the things in question we were happy to pay for but following a number of emails we were threatened by the owners with small claims court.
If you are considering booking a lodge in aviemore I would avoid black grouse lodge like the plague unless you want to take the risk of paying over and beyond the original price!

My family and I had an unforgettable stay at Black Grouse Lodge earlier this year. The place was spotless, the owners were quick to respond to a small query and the view over the Cairngorms were to die for! It truly was the perfect Highland escape!

Lodge was lovely and in a good area too. The trouble came after our stay. The owner of the lodge claimed we had damaged appliances and left the place untidy which was not true. She became very difficult to deal with and was threatening towards the organiser. She kept the deposit and also claimed we were due more money for the things that were left ‘untidy and not clean’ and the stuff that was ‘broken’ although there was no evidence to support this. Unless you are prepared to check the lodge prior to moving in and clean in within an inch of its life before you leave then I would not recommend staying here. The owner was also clocking comings and going’s, questioning why there were multiple cars for a party of 10 during the Christmas period. (People were coming from different areas and some had to return for work during the week) She was also able to give times and dates of who was in the back garden. If you want a secluded lodge for you and your friends and family then this is not it.

It Looks like the owner loves to steal peoples deposits!!!! BE VERY CAREFUL STAYING AT THIS PROPERTY, They charge you a £1000 for putting cutlery in the wrong draw!!!!! Small claims court action, these people are the definition of a Holiday gone wrong
