We visited 24/10/24 for afternoon tea, WOW, you won't be disappointed, the room was spacious, light, with large windows looking over the grounds, staff were professional, polite and courteous throughout our sitting. The food was fantastic, finger sandwiches, yum! Scones still warm with two types of jam and clotted cream yum! And an assortment of delicate cakes, yum! Along with plenty of tea and coffee. Also, boxes to take what you don't manage to finish home. Bowood, take a bow. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon tea experience ?

We had a private lunch with a group of friends to celebrate a special occasion. The food and service was outstanding. I would like to specifically mention Rebecca who went above and beyond to make it a special event; she was friendly, professional and engaging, and an absolute asset to the hotel.

Hotel, house, grounds and adventure park are all excellent and well looked after. We love coming here.
Amy on reception at the Hotel is wonderful. On the 2 occasions we’ve stayed at Bowood, she has always been very helpful, kind and considerate, especially following a couple of incidents involving our children. Hayley too was kind and understanding during checkout following our most recent stay. Thank you to them both.
We didn’t catch the bar team members name on Saturday (31st August) afternoon (around 4pm) but she too was excellent. Very helpful, friendly and great with the children.
Mitch too was amazing during our first visit but wasn’t working during our most recent stay.
Thank you to everyone we have come across during both stays but especially to those 4. They are a wonderful asset to this beautiful hotel.
Towels and bedding have been beautifully clean, white and spotless both times we’ve visited and clean towels and sheets is one of the most important things a hotel can provide (in my opinion). I’ve stayed in a number of ‘luxury’ hotels only to find stained towels and marks on the bedding which makes me not want to stay there again. Bowood clearly have a fantastic housekeeping team who care about their work as it shows in the cleanliness of the entire hotel.
Beautiful estate and an amazing team of people that really make it a great place to stay. Thank you.

Absolutely perfect experience. There was one downside however. You can’t access the gym or pool on your own until you are 16. Apart from that, fantastic place, friendly staff and relaxing environment. Good views as well as a lot of activities.

Our first visit to Bowood Hotel and we really enjoyed our 3 night stay. Lovely, spacious room overlooking the park. The small lake there had swans and cygnets on it and we saw a few deer on the edge of the field. Tea, coffee, fresh milk, water and cookies replenished every day. Easy check-in, staff all professional and friendly. Breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, pastries and of course freshly cooked hot choices. We enjoyed some drinks in the bar and sat out on the lovely terrace in the sun one evening. We ate at the restaurant on two evenings. Food was well cooked and to a high standard. I did find the choice quite limited though, especially the starters. I would prefer more choice and less fancy food overall. We would love to return one day.|One point to improve on would be providing a smoke-free area on the terrace. At one point we were sitting in the bar area but got smoke wafting in from smokers out on the terrace.

Gave Bowood 4 stars as it's set in super grounds and a wonderful property.|Nothing I can specifically say is bad but the overall experience is not quite as satisfying as might be expected, especially given the prices.|The chap who stands in the lobby is super helpful and engaging, definitely a big plus.|Most of restaurant staff seem ill at ease with their roles, not coherent. Ask one for something and it takes ages and you have to ask someone else. There were a few organised people,e but generally the exception.|Sitting out on the patio in nice weather is hard to beat.

We've experienced both the hotel and the spa and it's definitely worth 5 stars. The hotel rooms, the staff, the food are all flawless.
The spa is amazing, great staff and lovely experience.
It is an up market place but you get what you pay for.
One of our favourite places in the area.

The carpark is scruffy and distant from the hotel||Throughout the hotel there is an air of excellence as described by many reviewers. The staff are universally bright and polite, and, apart from when we booked in, competent.||Our bedroom with the balcony was superbly equipped. However, the extra large bathroom only partly offset the sleeping area being too small for a second easy chair. For £366 per night, two people should be able to sit in comfort. [My son’s room with no balcony and costing only £220 per night was significantly longer and had two easy chairs]. The toilet seat was made of flimsy plastic and creaked, groaned and shifted. We unplugged the fridge overnight because it gave out a loud murmur.||The service in the Shelburne restaurant lived up to expectations, although the food did not suite me||Our experience of private dining in the old dairy office was exceptional, especially for allowing the two grand children freedom of movement. We ordered from the Shelburne menu and my guests were euphoric about the fillet steak. Liam with extreme patience ensured the efficient flow of food and wine
