The energy in the cafe is swallowed up by the high roof. Drop some hanging baskets or similar from the ceiling and it would bring the energy back into the room. Even the staff look a bit lost at the side of the room. Also, breaking up the symmetry of the room would make it much more friendly. Honestly, that building is a lesson in how to sap energy, and really, really needs a friendly redesign. Do it, National Trust, and save mankind! ?

A national trust cafe at the top of Box Hill where you can take a rest from walking. A selection of hot and cold snacks. There is a log burner fire which is wonderful to warm up next to. They were sadly out of baked potatoes when we visited around 1:30pm on Sunday. However, the carrot and orange soup was good and the hot Cornish pasties were delicious! There are also toilet facilities outside. The café was busy but we were able to find a table inside and people are constantly coming and going.

Our kids loved their ice creams, and the staff very kindly offered our son a fresh scoop of ice cream after he accidentally dropped his on the floor. Great customer service!

The coffee isn’t great at all here as you can see below an attempt at a flat white didn’t go very well. They then tried to give us a burnt toastie and had to send that back.

Can't really fault it, except the prices, ash's it can get very busy with long queues. Not managed to establish whether they serve a decent bacon roll or not?

Plenty of seating!!!
Went on a beautifully sunny February morning.

The drive up to the Box Hill Top Cafe was great, roads looked clean, well kept and good signage. Plenty of parking available. I've got a National Trust membership so parking was free. Otherwise, I think it was £6 for the whole day at the time of my visit.

The cafe and the NT hut were smart and clean looking, I felt I wanted to go in because they were well presented. The shop was open and had plenty of helpful products for walking, bird watching and snacks. We had arrived a bit too early because the cafe team were still baking the sausage rolls and snacks!!!

Outside there is a stand with lots of information on hiking, walking, cycling and kids routes that can be followed around Box Hill - great idea that we saw lots of people were taking advantage of when we returned at lunchtime after our first walk.

The service team were really friendly and helpful. They went to get a stock item they had run out if especially for us, they checked nutritional info for my vegan friend and they even found my phone and looked after it as I drove 35 miles back to collect it!

We will be back to hike more of the routes in a couple of months time.

Cute cafe offers important things you need after hike or just for a break. Has small cafe with usual stuff, enough to warm you up. Hot coffee or tea or chocolate or other drinks, baked potatoes, scones, cakes also some sandwiches. Can fill your water bottle here. The toilet is clean. A lot of place to sit.
