First time glamping and Brackenhill did not disappoint. Beautiful well equipped safari tent in a place of outstanding Beauty. If you crave peace and quiet and getting away from it all, this is the place for you. We did so much and visited beaches and towns all mainly within a 30 minute drive. We had one day at the site and it was probably my favourite day. Fire pit outside was lovely and we enjoyed sitting here looking at the night sky. We also were treated to a solar moon on our first night kids toasted marshmallows on the fire, used the land to play in and loved their bunks in their cosy room. On chillier nights we lit the log burner and sat all cosy on the sofas. ||We used the hot tub in the rain and felt so refreshed.||The honesty shop was brilliant and very convenient. The owners hens eggs were absolutely delicious ||The hosts are lovely and are there if you need them but they are not at all intrusive. ||I can honestly say we loved every bit of this holiday and came back feeling reinvigorated. Highly recommend by me

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the brackenhill slow worm glamping tent. Alex made our stay truely wonderful with a warm welcome and a fully stocked honesty shop! The tent and it's amenities were perfect, there was nothing more we could have asked for. We particularly enjoyed the outside space with a fire pit, bbq, stream and den! Our family of 6 (2 adults, 2 boys and 2 dogs!) had a great adventure and hope to return again soon.

We like the idea of camping, but we are oldies now, and those home comforts such as an ensuite and a comfortable bed are higher up the priority list. So this is our first experience of glamping and not the last, we hope. You get the lovely experience of sleeping under canvass, but with room to move around, a decent bed, a private bathroom with hot water on tap and decent water pressure in the shower. No spending hours unpacking the car and assembling a tent. It's a case of just arriving, receiving a warm greeting from the friendly owners, and putting your luggage on one of the convenient trolleys left by the reception area for the short walk to the safari tent.||||Glow Worm has stunning countryside views from the South facing deck, with the church tower in the near distance jutting up above the trees. In fact, all the tent windows have lovely countryside views. At night it was unseasonably cold for July, but the log burner made the whole tent cosy in half an hour. There is a woodfired hot tub that we didn't try, and also a convenient barbeque and fire pit. An honesty shop stocks any essentials you may have forgotten and a few treats on top. We had the breakfast pack - it is great value and packed with local ingredients - traditional thick-cut bacon, great butcher's sausages, and eggs with massive yolks from free-range hens who live on site.||||There is a lot to do around the area for families and couples. The village centre is a five-minute walk, if that, and has two pubs. We tried both. We thought the Ship Inn had stunning food and service. The Anchor is more than acceptable, but if you are only going to try one, in our view, we would recommend the former. Try the haddock Scotch eggs!||||It is also worth noting the site’s green credentials, and a worthy desire to reduce the environmental impact of tourism||.||All in all, we came here just to chill and have some quality time after a difficult year of having several close family bereavements and some health issues, and we have recharged our batteries. Just the tonic we needed, thanks.

We stayed here as an end of school treat, just me and my teenage son.||||The site itself is small - two safari tents - and delightfully located in a pretty Devon village within easy reach of good beaches.||||The safari tent was spotlessly clean and well equipped with “proper” beds, a wood burning stove and a kitchen and bathroom. We also had a fire pit and barbecue. The tent has a veranda with chairs and a table, to listen to the wildlife or stargaze, and enjoy a drink. We found the site quiet but just as you would expect in a community there are children playing at the school next door, bells ringing at the nearby church - all very pleasant and relaxing. Good recycling facilities and an honesty shop. The village has two pubs. ||||We had a genuinely lovely stay from the moment we were greeted by our host, and have recommended the site to family and friends.

Had a lovely stay end of August, early sept. We were 5 adults and comfortably fitted into the Glow worm. Cosy set up, all essentials were provided. It did get quite cold in the evenings and though the log burner is great it would be nice to have an option of an electric heater especially for the cooler months.||Enjoyed the barbeques in the evenings, an outside light would be useful, to help with cooking or if you want to sit out for dinner.||Overall great place, very private as it's only two tents, spaced apart. Glow worm is closer to the parking. ||The owner was very kind and helpful.||||The village is quite close and we enjoyed the walks around it, great views.||||Not far from plymouth, dartmoor park( amazing place). Has a tesco Express nearby though the shop at the place has your essentials too.||||Would recommend , great for families!

If a holiday home could come close to perfection, Brackenhill might just be it. The setting (the view across the valley
and the hills behind, with the church tower at its centre) is stunning; the seclusion (the field is overlooked only by buzzards by day and bats at night) is both calming and deeply affecting; the safari tent itself is an aesthetically beautiful thing, but also practical - spacious, sturdy, comfortable and spotlessly clean; the family who own and run the site are the very best of people, attentive but never intrusive, they genuinely want you to love the place as they do and go the extra mile to make it so.
As for practicalities, the facilities in the tent are excellent and there is a wood burner within and fire-pit without; parking is safe, spacious and easy, the honesty shop is a godsend (the village at the bottom of the hill has two pubs but no shop), and Ugborough is perfectly placed between the moors and the sea. We will definitely be coming back, again and again.

We had a lovely stay during mid September with good weather to match the wonderful scenery and setting. The location is excellent just a short drive from A38, local towns and villages.
The owners really have considered everything, accomodation immaculate, with lots of additions and equipment to ensure you can self cater in a very relaxing manner. With numerous farm shops en-route we stocked up and enjoyed a cooked breakfast on the BBQ every morning.
The wood burner is a great addition and really ensures a cosy evening whilst taking the chill out of the night, combined with comfy and warm bedding. Logs, kindling and charcoal is available onsite at a reasonable price, so no need to bring your own.
We made use of the guidebook and map provided for some wonderful walks and wild swims in the area, all within a short drive though if you wish to stay put for the day, the site could entertainment young explorers in the field, stream and grassland. Boardgames also provided.
The village has two pubs and also visited weekly by the mobile fish and chip van, pre-booking for all local catering is essential. Shops are nearby in Ivybridge.
We would absolutely return to relax and also continue to explore the wonderful coast and countryside in the area.

A super glamping experience. We stayed for 5 nights and the safari tent is situated in lovely spacious countryside and fully equipped and clean for a comfortable stay. We stayed with our two young boys who enjoyed visiting the beach everyday, fishing and playing a game of cricket next to the tent. The breakfast box was full of tasty produce, especially the black pudding and sausages! The place to stay in Devon!
