Staying at Bridge House was a highlight of our walk along Hadrian’s Wall. The cabin we stayed in was cosy and a nice quirky change from normal accomodation. Our breakfast was great - hard-boiled duck eggs were a real treat! Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, and had obviously given a lot of thought to what their guests needed. Would definitely stay there again!

Couldn't thank the owners of this business enough, they last minute, late on in the evening due to a call from the local inn arranged accommodation for us after rudely being turned down by Hadrian's wall campsite. They let us stay in the shepherds hut which is new to the site and really nice and comfortable. Lovely owners who couldn't do enough for people and even offered to pick up a lady from the local hospital who was taken ill before her stay. The only down side I would say was the toilet which was a composting toilet but no problem if you are used to them. Would definitely stay again.

Outstanding service and a convenient location near the Wall. The hosts were incredibly helpful. The lodge was simple, clean, quiet, warm, and comfortable - exactly what I needed at the end of a long day of hiking. I highly recommend Bridge House to other travelers. My son and I were trekking the Wall and had booked up The Bridge House B&B. The accomodation is very comfortable and completed to a very high specification. Rooms were warm and very comfortable. Bathroom had options of a bath as well as a shower. Much needed after an arduous trek over the Crags. With the local pub closed for refurbishment, we were offered an excellent evening meal and drinks shared with other guests staying that night. Breakfast was superb and we also took advantage of taking a packed lunch with us for the next days hike. Bridge House offers an excellent drying area including old newspapers for boot stuffing. Everything you could possibly want. Other types of accomodation are also available. The Bridge House is about a 1km walk from the Wall. I recommend sticking to the road on the far side of the lake at Cawfields quarry as the direct footpath if travelling from the East takes you through a spring - not great to end or start your hike. I certainly will be booking again when visitng the location with my wife. Highly recommended and excellent value for money.

This is an amazing and special place to stay.
Me and my partner booked this place and what definitely a highlight of our trip.

The couple who run it have done an excellent job. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, the rooms are comfortable and beautiful, the breakfast is great quality.

The best thing about here are the hosts. They are welcome, friendly and made our stay feel personable and warm.

This is a place you must stay on your visit. You will not be disappointed.

The pub across the road does excellent food as well.

We loved this place. The proprietors are warm and friendly, picking us up from Homesteads on Hadrian's Wall and driving us to Vindolanda. The room was great, especially the shower. The drying room was exceedingly welcome, the breakfast was tasty (as were the packed lunches to which I added a smuggled sausage breakfast sandwich), and I loved the lounge, where I stayed late one night hoping to see the Milky Way because it's in a Dark Skies region. The inn cannot be blamed for the July sun staying up even later than me and wiping out my view (although it was wild to have Polaris so close I could nearly touch it). I happily took pictures of the inn from the wall while hiking (the telltale sign are the big carved bushes).

Wonderful stay at the Bridge House! Great food, great hosts, great location. We hiked Hadrian's Wall and this was a perfect stop along our way. Perfectly clean rooms. Good wifi. Such a beautiful part of the country.
