A Fantastic Experience at Brighton Cookery School.

My pre-teen and I recently took part in a sushi-making class at Brighton Cookery School, and it was absolutely fantastic! From start to finish, the whole experience was engaging and educational.
Our instructor, Victor was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the process fun—breaking down each step of sushi making in a way that was easy to follow and understand.

We learned how to make classic maki and nigiri.

The hands-on nature of the class made it perfect for bonding with my teen. They catered for all skill levels in the group, so don’t worry if you’re a novice or a dab hand, their team of chefs were on hand to assist us throughout the session.

We both learned so much about the different types of sushi, including the crucial technique of spreading the rice evenly on the nori sheet, and even the art of seasoning rice just right.

There was a great mix of teaching and practical, interactive time, and by the end, we were both able to prepare beautiful sushi rolls that tasted incredible.

The atmosphere in the school was warm and welcoming, and the facilities were top-notch. We also got to enjoy the sushi we made, which was a real highlight.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience for both of us, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn a new skill, especially if you’re cooking with a pre-teen!
It’s the perfect way to bond and create something delicious together. 🍣

I paid £65 for my daughter and I, two hours 6-8pm and pre-booking is essential!

Check out the Brighton Cookery School website for their full schedule of classes.

We had a great Thai cookery course with chef Victor. He was extremely knowledgeable, gave some great tips, and the other staff were helpful with prep/cleaning stuff away also. We will definitely be back, thanks Victor and crew!!

What an incredible evening. Victor was an excellent tutor, providing oversight while we crafted delicious Korean food for the first time. The whole set up is great; each workstation was well-stocked and equipment and ingredients were given and taken exactly when we needed it. Would highly recommend!

Booked for a festive bake off on the 9th January 2025 for 45 people, they sourced an alternative venue for us and Sarah was super helpful throughout all the booking process! The team really enjoyed the event. I think for a big team like ours the 4 hours was a bit tight and we did run over a bit. Also would suggest getting into smaller groups as 6/7 per team meant it was sometimes hard for all the team to get involved. Victor and team on the day was so great with us and got Christmas hats and crackers for the meal which is all a really lovely touch! - Would recommend

Absolutely loved the experience. Our first time here. My wife and I were celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary. The staff was excellent and the food we learned to prepare was delicious! Here was the Italian menu:

LEARN, COOK, EAT

- Gnocchi with porcini mushrooms in a creamy white wine sauce.
- Braised cross-cut lamb shank in a rich pomodoro sauce served with aubergine (egg plant) and sweet potatoes.
- Mixed fruit (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries) topped with a Prosecco sauce.
- Glass of red or white wine

Went there for a one off beginners knife skills class and it was great! I'm fairly handy in the kitchen for a normal, and I watch far too many competitive coming shows, so I already had an idea of some of the basics, but this really helped show me the right way to put it all together in a way that feels natural and had me fine dicing veg smaller than I ever could before! We also learned basic chicken butchery and fish filleting. I will need to continue my practice there, but having a real person guide you instead of just following a YouTube video makes it so much easier to understand, and build your confidence. Oh, and BRING TUPPERWARE AND ZIP-LOC BAGS and keep as much as possible separate because you can take it all home. That's half a chicken, a bream or similar, and a bunch of stock veg per person! Really fun, really informative, you should totally give it a go.

I was gifted the pasta making class as a birthday present, absolutely loved it! I went on my own and I didn’t feel awkward at all, the atmosphere was very friendly and comfortable. The instruction was really clear and helpful, I enjoyed making the different types of pasta so much. We ate them as soon as I got home! Will definitely be making more pasta at home and looking up other classes I would like to go to!
