Stayed mid March, I had a renovated room on 5th floor. Clean spacious and comfortable bed. Nice new bathroom. Booked it and £99 room rate, then saw reviews. Definitely improved with renovation. Looks like they are working way down. Great price for location if you get renovated room.

Though an old hotel ,refurbishment is continuing from 2024. Hence, good rate for rooms. Conveniently situated in New Street close to McDonald's, Boots, poundland,Odean cinema, tram,Hair dressers/ Barbers Close to shops and train stations in the city centre. Spacious warm rooms. Very clean .Very helpful staff and housekeeping. Would highly recommend staying here if you want a cheap stay in a great hotel. I kept extending my stay in same room. They should have Do Not disturb signs - then if staying over in the sane room can put a sign on the door or ask for a top-up using another sign on the outside of the door handle. Was annoyed on one occasion as I had cramps in both legs and booked to stay in sane room on the phone. Then spoke to a man(asian) at reception . He refused my request to get me new key and demanded I came down to reception to swop keys- which could have been done later. Said I had to do for 10am - which was silly as that's not what other hotels do( as they know you booked to stay another night and swop keys later. Plus, it's not empathetic to my predicament - 70 years old. Diabetic. On a previous occasion kettle was very dirty inside- but had to go to reception to swop- no staff to come to room to do that.

The room was big. That's all. There was no body wash. Only 1 small towel and one medium size towel. The hand wash was 2 tiny squeezable plastic tubes. I didn't book it and will not stay there again. The TV was constantly updating. Its not for me. Sorry but I won't pretend each to their own. I always bring my own provisions .

The room was lovely and warm on a cold night. Huge TV,great waterfall, and other shower. House keeping were wonderful as on my single bed ,I only had one pillow- the lady was very obliging when I asked for 2 more to prop myself up to sit in bed.Wrll laid out room with dresser/desk and drawers plus chair. Plus an easy chair to relax in. I extended my stay to 3 nights and will now extend to Friday and Saturday night as other hotels very expensive in comparison

Staff are extremely helpful - housekeeping and front desk. The rooms are very clean.Newly refitted as stated 2024. Lovely showers ,huge tv's. Unlimited WiFi. Great normal type radiators you can adjust( dried my clothes- room really got hot as weather got milder - opened window( they are still the old windows ( this room no secondary glazing ( a previous room was cold because it was drafty and was a very cold night that day

After about 5 years not staying here,we thought we'd bite the bullet and ignore the negative reviews, and book a week here!||Well 1st impressions, magnificent! You can see they've spent millions on the refurb! ||Our room is on top floor! On entering the room we were surprised to see a huge mega king size bed and very comfy, nice pillows, hug new tv. New bathroom with new walk in shower..||New fluffy towels and a kettle with coffee and biscuits.

This place is like Fawlty Towers on steroids. It’s a drunk tank at very best.|In the part of the hotel that isn’t a building site, the rooms have ultra bright lighting (with no dimming), no hot water and no extra bedding/towels. |The breakfast is an absolute joke. On our arrival in the breakfast room, the staff member looked absolutely astonished to see anyone! There was no food on offer other than a few cheap cornflakes and some hastily rounded-up plane food on a tray.|Unless you’re going to Birmingham to get absolutely leathered and doss down anywhere, don’t stay here.

Look that they have the largest flat screen tv''s. Netflix too. As still getting refurbished- most things are new. Love the normal and rainfall shower combination. Non-slip mat . This room. Unfortunately only had one pillow on my single bed- do need at least 2. Great that they have ordinary radiators you can turn up and leave stuff to dry on
