Just come back from Burnhope lodge. The perfect place to stay if you want peace and quiet, the sound of lots of birds singing and the most fantastic scenery. The lodge was spotless, well equipped fantastic bedrooms all ensuite, great kitchen, and an added bonus of a snooker room with a little bar, I would highly recommend this accommodation, hopefully will be returning next year. (Great walk around the reservoir).

Second stay at this amazing house. Beautiful throughput, top quality, Karen and Nick on hand to help or advise if any queries or problems (we only had a minor one). Great for views, walking, relaxing, having fun. Would definitely recommend.

This was THE perfect venue to stay for us and our wedding guests - a party of 17 and a dog.|The Lodge is situated in a remote location by a reservoir so it is quiet, peaceful and offers walks for varying abilities. Every bedroom equipped with super comfy bed and pillows has a scenic view. The Lodge itself was warm, comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed - the snooker table was a bonus. There are open log fires to sit around on cold evenings.|A big 'thank you' to Athol who braved the elements at the BBQ to prepare a feast enjoyed by all and to Nick and his team who were on hand to make our stay an enjoyable one.|A fantastic week with friends and family making memories to cherish forever....|

A fantastic house, beautifully appointed and ideal for a large group with plenty of rooms to hide away if necessary. Kitchen superbly equipped for catering, bedrooms very comfortable and the boot room/drying room very useful. A full size snooker table just completes the experience! Location is remote but it means you can walk from the house which is great.Can't recommend highly enough, we will be returning.

The family and extended family hired Burnhope Lodge for 3 nights for a celebratory party. It was perfect for purpose. The bedrooms, public rooms and kitchen are all huge (and I mean really huge). There was plenty of space for the family to get together or spread out as required during our stay. We did all our own catering (although it is possible to hire in cooks and butlers if desired). The property sits high above the village of Wearhead in what is a fairly remote and isolated part of the country somewhere between south of the A69, north of the A66, east of the M6 and west of the A1 - with nearest big town being Carlisle and Bishop Auckland. While we were there the place was battered by high winds and copious amounts of rain - which all added to the coziness of the place, helped by the open fireplaces and more than sufficient supplies of logs (three public rooms had these fireplaces). The rooms are well and comfortably furnished and there is plenty of cooking and eating equipment. The pathway from the lodge took us around the adjacent reservoir (probably an hour's walk with the dogs) - a fine walk, despite the inclement weather, providing numerous sightings of deer, black grouse and many other birds. The lodge has its own full-sized snooker table housed in an adjacent, converted chapel. Brilliant for the 3 nights or even a week.

We have just returned from a wonderful family weekend, Friday to Monday to celebrate a 40th birthday. The house is beautiful, with large spacious bedrooms and en-suites and large, comfortable beds. There is also a lovely bedroom on the ground floor with a toilet and wet room for anyone with mobility problems. Plenty of rooms to spread ourselves out, fabulous kitchen with huge fridge and drinks cooler and an ice machine. Loads of crockery, cutlery and glasses. We hired the chef for Saturday evening and the meal was superb. It just made it extra special. Friday night was spent in the old Weslyan chapel, now a snooker room with fridge, TV and little bar area and the gong used for calling us to our Saturday meal delighted our little 17 month old girl. A large order was delivered by Tesco bringing our food to the door. Although the weather was poor, the house is so lovely, it was a pleasure to stay indoors. However, it's a great base for exploring

I conduct small group tours around the British Isles and Ireland and a few years started doing house party tours where we rent a large holiday home for one week in one location and then another for the second week. Not having ever been to Burnhope I was a little bit nervous as to what I would find, but was pleasantly surprised on every front. The house is beautiful and well appointed. I was preparing meals for the group on several evenings and the kitchen was well thought out and set up for a proper cook! As lovely as the house was, the surrounding area was even more lovely. It borders on being magical! We had everything we needed and had a wonderful run through of the house upon arrival and everything ran so smoothly from there, that we never had to bother the owners again. I cannot wait for a return visit!
