Small basic guest house situated for a 10 to 15 minute walk into York centre. We had room 3 which was on the first floor at the back, so was very quiet. Small hallway with small shallow wardrobe. Large bathroom with full size bath and shower over. Shower was ok but water was not very hot, but it was ok. Main bedroom was well equipped. Bed although old fashioned was comfortable. The bedding could do with being upgraded though as it had seen better days. There was a twin drawer dresser and a table with 2 chairs. Kettle and tea and coffee etc and a small fridge that worked well and was not too noisy at night. A decent size TV is on the wall too. The only thing was, because of the size and layout of the room, there was only 1 bedside cabinet. It was all very clean, and did the job. Breakfast is between 8 and 9am and there was cereal, juices and fruit which is in the other dining room which is in the next door guest house which is adjoined inside the buildings. Full English was ok, sausage a bit cheap but otherwise it was all very nice. Tea, coffee and toast too with real butter. I'm sure they would do some scrambled egg or poached egg on toast if you requested. Parking is a but weird, there are 2 spaces at the rear accessible down a narrow passage way. I had to back in and if you have a larger car than my Corsa you will struggle. There is free parking across the road though. So for a great value deal with easy access to Yorks attractions I would definitely recommend this place. I would definitely return.

Small window in room with good views but bathroom is too small and TV is in a spot where anyone tall would kick the TV at the end of the bed. I would recommend if you are only going to be in York for a short period of time, as it did us just right for our stay. Thank you for the stay - Perfectly cleaned and mini fridge was useful too!

My stay at Burton Guest House was absolutely perfect. The customer service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. The breakfast was delicious, with a great variety of options to start the day right. The room with a private bathroom was spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped, making my stay even more enjoyable.

The location is also a big plus, as it’s close to the city center, making it easy to explore York on foot. I would definitely choose this place again for my next visit. Highly recommended!

Arrived and checked in no problem . Nice old Victorian B&B .. clean tidy & presentable (no mould or smells anywhere I went ) can’t understand some people’s comments. Owners were friendly and fine and just let you get on with what you wish to do. I was in a Minibus so parking was no good however owner said go over the road 100yrds to Jaipur Spice Indian Restaurant spacious car park let me stay 24 hours for £5.50 a bargain 😊I booked a meal there 6pm also was delicious. |Shower was standard size as normal fresh towels no smells loads of teas coffee & milk with kettle . Comfortable beds lovely warm room and breakfast was great too . I’d stay again no bother and if you’re looking for 5 star mod cons then don’t be stupid enough to book a terrace Victorian house with all its amazing original characters/features for this price then whinge on about what’s not there . This place is fine from what I saw .. no noise was very quiet also

Everything was gorgeous. Couldn't believe how gorgeous it was for the price. It was unbelievable. Beans at breakfast need upgrading as tasteless an mushrooms to watery, buts that's all everything else for the price was unbelievable, gorgeous, perfect. We really really cant wait to return i just parked the car as so near to everything which was perfect. I've never done a review before but my husband and I thought this place and people should be praised for how brilliant it, they are. Thankyou.

This B&B is …..okay.|We arrived and couldn’t get in for 10 minutes, as nobody was answering the doorbell. I phoned them in the end to ask to be let in.|Once we got in, we were told we couldn’t pay as the card machine wasn’t working and they’d catch us another time - which is fine, but I didn’t see him again during my stay! I had to ask for him when I was leaving to settle the bill before I left.|We asked about car parking, as we were told parking was available. He directed me to the permit holders parking, but didn’t want to give me a permit. I explained that I was wary of a fine, so he told me to use the next door property’s car park - which also worried me!|We ended up managing, as we have a blue badge.|Breakfast the next morning, which is 8-9am only and we were told to be there on time, but us and 2 other families sat in the breakfast room for 15 minutes before someone came into the room and offered us drinks/food at 8.20ish.|The breakfast was fine, but not great. It was served by a young man who was wearing a sports kit - he was friendly, but the style of dress was a little odd for someone working. The toast was cold and the sausages weren’t great, but the hash browns were absolutely amazing - the best I’ve had! We had to ask someone at another table for butter, as we didn’t get any.|The room was comfortable, as were the beds. We were on the top floor, so it was quiet. The bathroom was tiny, but it did the job. It wasn’t the cleanest, but it was clean enough. There was a desk, a hairdryer, an air-con unit, a fan, some toiletries, kettle with teabags/coffee etc and a small rail for clothes.|The next morning, we realised there was another room for breakfast (we weren’t told previously) which had cereal, juice and fruit. I wish we knew the day before, as my daughter loves fruit and cereal. The communication wasn’t great though.|The older man serving breakfast was lovely. Our orders were right both days. |We didn’t get butter again the second day, so had to ask another table again.|Upon exit, there was nobody available to pay and I still hadn’t settled my bill, so I had to wait for them to go and get someone. I could have left without paying, which was a little worrying!|For the price, it’s fine, but it’s nothing special. ||I’d be unlikely to stay again unfortunately, all things considered.

Lovely Little Guest House on the outskirts of York. Very comfortable room ("superior double"), with fantastic shower and free wifi. Superb freshly-cooked breakfast. Spotlessly clean throughout. Manager and staff all very friendly and helpful. |An easy ten minute walk into the town centre.|Only downside could be the parking. The bays are small and can fill up quickly, but the manager helped us when we had a problem with this.|Recommended.
