The shop is full of high end items, really lovely while the hotel/restaurant offers superb ambient seating. Visited one morning for breakfast which couldn't be faulted, will come again & book a room next time!

Booked several rooms at Byfords over 6 months ago for a special celebration with friends this month. Due to the refurbishment works, two of the rooms had to be changed which wasn't a problem. The rooms were clean and tidy and beautifully furnished with soft towels, comfortable bedding, small fridges, tea/coffee making facilities, TV's and floor standing fans (the rooms were hot and stuffy so these were needed plus the radiator in one of the rooms would not turn off which made it very uncomfortable. We did report this but nothing could be done). There was a non-working lamp in one room and a light bulb missing in the bathroom. These are small details but for the price we paid for the rooms I would have expected these sort of things to be checked. |We were unable to use the car park as this is currently used for contractors vans and skips. The workmen tried to be as unobtrusive as possible but they started arriving at 7am which disturbed some of us. However we did have a Byfords voucher which enabled us to park free in the nearby Budgens car park.|We ate in the restaurant in the evening. The menu is not very inspiring so we all opted for the signature curry which was poor, watery, lacking flavour and depth. Breakfast was good however. |All the staff were friendly and tried their best to be helpful. |Overall I could not rate Byfords as a premium venue.

We stayed in Madder self catering which was a nicely decorated place, but there were several features that have not been considered and are not indicated on the website. ||Firstly, and one of great concern to us, is that there are height restrictions in the bedroom and bathroom which meant that my husband, who is 6ft 6”, could not stand up and hit his head many times over the course of the week. This was not included in the descriptions of the room. |We advised the duty manager at the time and she said that the website would be updated for Madder and Indigo to reflect the height restrictions on the mezzanine, but to date no mention of this in on the website and we wouldn’t want others in the same position not to be aware.||Secondly, we were there for 7 nights as we have a friend in the area, so it was convenient to be able to see her. There is no mention on the website that these apartments are more set up for 3-4night stays. There was no indication of where we left any rubbish if bins were full or where to leave recycling and no facility to wash towels etc. Byfords don’t normally offer a towel replacement in the apartments, although we managed to convince them that we needed to have the towels replaced.| |Whilst we did receive some discount from the manager, hopefully this information is helpful to others who may consider booking.

We just had lunch. We didn't stay. Nice lunch place. I had a seafood platter, and my wife had a nice salad. We had beer and prossecco and ended with a coffee.
Holt itself is a lovely little town, a lot of character, and was much bigger than I expected.

Second time visiting, had breakfast this time, haven't stayed overnight so room star rating is just a guess. Food is good quality, tea is good amount in teapots. Didn't like table setting, having benches with dead end so when we sat 3 together on one, 2 people had to get up to let another get out to use toilet. Second time we get table like this, they got quite a few like it. Also it was dark and interior itself isn't interesting or particularly standing out apart from old ceiling beams. Service was pretty good.

Coffee stop. Bit put off when we were sat in the rear with in the resident breakfast area. Honestly though, great experience. Good service. Lovely black coffee and bakewell tart slice. Cheese scone with a bit of chilli jam (on request) and a lovely pot of tea. Fantastic stop. Recommended.

Today I had my Mother’s Day treat of afternoon tea. Whilst the food was delicious and being gluten free offering was great I feel disappointed. I heard the waiter tell another table they could change their sandwich fillings to the ones they liked. I asked if I could do this for my gf plate and my mums no gf plate. He returned saying this was not possible as it was not requested on booking. There were 4 sandwich filling’s available. My mum received all 4 but left the 2 she had requested to change. On my gf tea I received 3 of the fillings.
We had also been informed we would have our drinks refilled and sandwiches refilled. 2 other tables were offered this but we were not.

Stopped here for cake and coffee whilst having a wander around Holt. Tried a couple of other places but we wanted 'cake' as opposed to flapjacks or similar. Had the showstopper Victoria sponge and a slice of Bakewell Tart - both were excellent as were the tea and oatmilk Latte. Ladies that served us were absolutely lovely as were all other members of staff. Highly recommend.
