Caledonia guest house - Plymouth

It came to light that this place does not offer breakfast so it isn't advertised properly in the majority of places. I did phone and talk to the owner Jeffrey and he stated he has no control over what is advertised. I should have booked directly with him or only Booking.com.

I went anyway because I'm not used to booking things or cancelling things and stayed for two nights. Unfortunately it wasn't a particularly relaxing experience though the room was clean and tidy I felt like an unwanted visitor in their own home. After checking in I didn't see anyone for two days at all. I was kept awake by banging, cooking smells in the owners accommodation and a very very loud snoring man in the room above which obviously can't be helped by the owners.

I checked out at 6am on the second morning after no sleep at all and was feeling exhausted and miserable. I would never stay at the Caledonia again. It might suit some people but unfortunately it was not brilliant in my experience 😕

Owner is a scammer; withheld my phone from me until I had shouted for it to be returned.
Intentionally disrupted my sleep by their staff.
Constant banging around by their staff.
Room had marks all across the walls.
Bathroom was filled with mold.
Internet didn't work.
Halls smelt bad.

Had to to leave a hotel due to owners illness and Jeff was very accommodating and very helpful in putting me in a room on second floor because I have a broken knee and was on crutches. The room was lovely and clean as was on suite and the bedding was lovely crisp sheets and very comfy beds in deed. Little private car park at the rear was a bonus. I will 100% stay here again as I visit Plymouth twice a year. Thanks for all your help. I wish all guest house hosts were as good x

We are staying here for a week and the owners Jeff and Marie could not do enough for me and my son. They have just re opened after this pandemic and helped us out because when we got here after a 12 hour journey we were told by the owner we had to leave because she needed a emergency operation so had to Self isolate and close down her hotel. I was even left a card and gift in my room for my birthday on our second day which is a lovely kind touch. I have a broken leg and they were very accommodating around my needs .The room is spotless and bedding and towels crisp and white. Very clean room and on suite with a fabulous hot shower. Free car park out the back of hotel which we were very glad of. We would stay here again infact why would I stay anywhere else. I come to Plymouth twice a year and now this will be my go to Hotel . A big thank you to Jeff and Marie for making our stay so perfect.

After staying in a different hotel/guest- house for 14 days this was my favourite place!

The hosts were absolutely lovely, welcomed us in and carried my suitcase to the very top floor. The bedrooms were beautifully clean and tidy and the beds were comfortable with crisp sheets. The shared bathroom was immaculate with spare toiletries and towels.

Location is amazing, with ten minute walk to the Barbican and even shorter walk to the coast where we swam. The harbour and aquarium is also a short walk away!

I highly recommend this guest house, you won’t be disappointed!

My family have just stayed at this guest house for one night to attend the graduation ceremony. We booked 4 rooms and they were all lovely. The beds and bedding were comfy and it was just right. Maria and Jeffery were very helpful during the whole process and the stay. They even gave our daughter a congratulations card. What a nice touch! It's in a great position for easy access to the centre of Plymouth and there's parking too. We didn't have breakfast but there looked like a good choice and the room was pretty laid out. ||Lovely guest house, couldn't ask for more. Thank you

Pleasant and comfortable B&B within walking distance of Plymouth city centre and the Hoe. Friendly and helpful hosts. Room was comfortable with a large bed and decent shower. No problems with the wifi. Excellent breakfast including vegetarian option. A nice place to stay for a few days. Only minor issue were like most 19th century properties the ceilings are a bit creaky so susceptible to disturbance if the person upstairs moves around a lot, though this only happened on the first night.

Nice staff, small but practical rooms. No breakfast but good advice on where to get one. 10mi s walk from central bus stop, 20mins bus+walk from train station. Nice to discover Plymouth waterfront and Barbican, which are beautiful spots!
