Perfect stay. Warm welcome from Carol and Keith who were always on hand with advice on trips, restaurants and walks. Room very nice with super kingsize comfortable bed. Bathroom small but modern and excellent shower in the bath. Very quiet environment. The private sitting room with two comfortable settees and a table and chairs which doubles as breakfast table. The breakfast prepared by Carol and Keith was all you could ask for. It all felt like a home away from home. A place to come back to. The mystery of the chestnuts in the windows was finally solved?

This is our second time to stay at Callender House but unfortunately our stay wasn’t long enough. Burton Leonard is a very beautiful old English village surrounded by gorgeous nature and lots of beautiful walks nearby, so we need to come back in the summer to enjoy the walks. We’ve known Carol and Keith for a long time and they’ve always been amazing hosts. The breakfast there is the best we’ve ever had. You start with delicious granola with all the yoghurts, fruit, juices and of course tea and coffee. Then comes the Full English, which includes fresh eggs from the farm in the village, the sausage from an award-winning butcher and home-made bread which was the first thing we could smell from our room. A gorgeous treat. |The bed is very comfortable with en suite bathroom, and you have a private room downstairs to have your breakfast and even to just sit and relax. If you like to be spoilt then this is definitely the place to go. It is just a 20 minute drive from Harrogate. It was also great to see the rest of the family on our short stay. Thank you all for being there and for giving us such a warm welcome. It was awesome to see you!

We stayed for 4 nights with Carol and Keith who are the most wonderful hosts who treat you like friends from arrival to departure.. Rooms are beautifully furnished with luxurious bed linen and very comfortable bed. Our room had a lovely view of the garden and fields beyond. Breakfast was excellent and on our return every afternoon there was scrumptious cake. Certainly one of our best stays. In addition the area is glorious and lots of choice for visits, walks etc. top rate in every way.

This bed and breakfast is just exquisite and what makes it especially so is the genuine warmth that flows from Keith and Carol. The house has such a lovely, peaceful atmosphere.||We were given a very warm Yorkshire welcome from Carol when we first arrived and treated to tea and homemade scones.||Our room was lovely and kept spotlessly clean throughout the stay. The bathroom was large and modern with a very powerful shower – we looked forward to a hot shower when we came home from sightseeing each day.||Our room had a view over the church and fields and we enjoyed a few lovely sunsets sitting in the garden.||The village itself is very pretty and the Post Office worth a visit – they stock a few local treats (lemon curd not withstanding!). We found it an excellent location for visiting all parts of Yorkshire, very easy to get to the main roads.||||Carol and Keith provide an amazing breakfast – better than any 5* hotel we have visited. Please do not turn down Keith’s homemade wholemeal bread - cooked fresh each day! ||The breakfast choice is large and varied and we especially enjoyed Carol’s homemade muesli and granola. The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were so good I ordered them 3 days out of the 4!||We also enjoyed the homemade cakes when we returned home each night – brownies, shortbread, apple cake – all delicious.||||Carol makes an excellent tour guide, her knowledge of the area (being a Yorkshire lass) is immense so do ask her where is best to visit. We spent all 4 days sightseeing and went to all the places Carol recommended. We had a ball. Carol also recommended some places to eat and even booked a table for us.||We had a lot of great chats with Carol as she too is a keen traveller – we will get to Argentina one day Carol. Thankyou for taking the time to chat, sorry if we kept you back!||||I think we left a little bit of our hearts at Callender House and if they will have us back, we’d love to visit again.||Ian and Shona x

We've stayed at numerous B&B's in the United Kingdom over the years, and I must say Callender House is a true gem if you are looking for a quiet and calm venue in which to enjoy a relaxing holiday.|The house is located on the outskirts of a small village, so dining options are limited, but our hostess, Carol, was happy to direct us to nearby villages that offered varied menus at a reasonable price. Just be certain to book ahead to guarantee a spot for dinner. |When we arrived at Callender House, we were treated to Cream Tea for two: homemade scones with clotted cream and home made jam. I can think of only one other establishment in the past that offered such a welcome among the numerous places where we have stayed. |The room was quite comfortable with a king sized bed and large ensuite bathroom that included a tub/shower combination. In addition to the standard bath & hand towels, we were given washcloths as well as robes and slippers to use if we chose. |A small fridge was located outside the door with fresh milk and bottled waters inside, that were replenished each day.|Breakfast was in a private sitting room with a lovely view out the front window. Yogurt parfaits or yogurt with fruit as a starter with cooked breakfast options to follow were plentiful and delicious! We were certainly set for the day! And, much to our surprise, after a day of touring, we returned to a special treat awaiting us in the evening: |Carol was eager to share local attractions of interest with us, and her suggestions did not disappoint.||I don't know how I stumbled upon this place when searching for a place to stay, but I couldn't be happier that I did!|We'll be looking for an excuse to go back now, even if it does involve crossing an ocean!

What a lovely stay we have had at Callender House. Both Carol and Keith were welcoming and knowledgeable on the area. Carol gave recommendations on places to eat and visit and we thoroughly enjoyed them. The breakfast was fantastic, and the added extras of brownies and scones a delicious treat. The house was beautifully
presented too. Nothing was too much trouble. Thanks for a lovely stay. Pauline & Clint.

Carol and Keith came to our rescue when a booking elsewhere was double booked, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. A few highlights in brief:
Cleanliness. The whole place was spotless. When I say "clean", I mean tops of things, corners, underneath things, etc were all absolutely and completely clean. "As clean as home" clean. They do a fantastic job.
Food. The breakfasts are absolutely glorious. Cereal to start (they make their own muesli, granola and compotes), with toast (they make their own bread too, and the honey is from just down the road), and then the mains to choose from were full Yorkshire brekkie, French toast with compote or scrambled eggs with salmon (yep, the eggs are from just down the road too). I tried every option and they were all delicious. They go out of their way to make sure you've had enough, and can't do enough for you. Each day we had cakes left for us in our living room as well which they'd baked.
Welcome. Genuinely, it just felt like we were staying as guests with some friends who had a large house. The warm welcome we enjoyed continued throughout the stay, and we enjoyed chatting with Carol and Keith, who were both very helpful discussing ideas for local walks, recommending places to eat based on our preferences, etc.
We really couldn't have asked for more, and had a wonderful time exploring Yorkshire from this lovely home as a base. Great location, great house to stay in and a great experience altogether. 11/10 across the board. My partner and I can't recommend highly enough - she loved it just as much as I did. Thank you both for a lovely stay!

Agree wholeheartedly with all the other 5* comments and if we could give it 6* we would! To say Carol and Keith go the extra mile is an understatement - they couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating if they tried - even going to the extent of providing us with a parking disc for the centre of Harrogate and booking a meal for us at a local pub. Breakfast is amazing and our welcome afternoon tea of freshly baked scones with jam and cream, plus homemade brownies on our second day took the term 'B&B' to the next level. Needless to say the property itself is just as described - peaceful location, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Because of the pandemic, Carol and Keith have re-organised the downstairs so each bedroom now has its own sitting room - talk about home-from-home! Cannot recommend highly enough.
