Set in a picturesque setting on the banks of Loch Lomond, it’s gone from traditional Scottish hospitality to a sprawling complex with a bit of tradition lost along the way.||||2nd time here in past 12 months, previously in the modern wing, this time in the older wing.||||Can’t fault the comfort of the bed. The bathroom could be a little more modern.||||Whilst there are plenty of facilities (including GF says a huge gym) highlight for me was the breakfast room (the grill) overlooking the loch where they served one of the best breakfasts seen at a UK hotel. High quality produce including champagne if you fancy it.||||They do know how to charge though. Room service with a £12.50 tray charge and then another 12.5% service charge is not good. Especially when the meal arrives 30 minutes later than the time it was asked for.||||Ending on a positive found all the staff to be pleasant.

The staff were excellent. We had to move rooms on the first night as there were multiple issues with ours, the ironing board was brown and smelt of other body odour, bathrooms tiles were cracked and shower dripping. It wasn’t a £550 a night room. After the move the room was clean and had everything we needed. |There’s so many options for bars, restaurants and things to do, it’s a beautiful setting. A lovely trip and breakfast was fabulous, freshly made to order eggs, lovely.

We stayed at Cameron House years ago and|absolutely loved it. It was classy, peaceful and felt like a proper treat. We popped in today while passing through – big mistake.||It’s completely changed. Now it’s more like a flashy theme park than a luxury hotel. Think Butlins with Ferraris. The car park was full of people revving engines and showing off, and the hotel felt packed to the rafters. We saw people queueing to check into rooms going for £500 a night – for what, exactly?||The place has lost all the charm it used to have. Inside, it’s all a bit bland and overdone – like it’s trying to be posh but ends up feeling like an airport lounge with tartan cushions. Loud, chaotic and full of people taking selfies. It’s like they’ve ripped the soul out and replaced it with Instagram.||That said, the staff were lovely – friendly, helpful and clearly doing their best. And it’s a big plus that the place is genuinely dog-friendly. Our dog got a warmer welcome than we did.||Shame the atmosphere didn’t match. What used to be a peaceful, special place now feels tacky and overpriced. Save your money – it’s all show, no substance

This hotel is never 5 star . Inexperienced staff , really poor sevice . |The new system for paying to room was not working although reception said it was , but then one other receptionist says it wasnt , no one had a clue what was working or not . |In one of the cocktail bars i went to the toilet and came back to my full drink being removed even though my 14 yr old son was sitting there , thought this was terrible . My drink was replaced once i asked about it . |We had dinner in La vista restaurant, once again the system wouldnt let me pay , so booked to the room the waiter had given up he said .When leaving it was raining so one of the staff asked if we would like collected for the short drive back to the hotel , yes thanks , 15 mins later it still hadnt arrived so we walked back in the rain . |We had lunch in the Tavern bar cafe ,basically a witherspoon with witherspoon food . Once again here the service was sub standard . |My daughter found out the hairdryer wasnt working sonshe kindly called reception for a replacement , yes no problem they said , this never arrived. |I feel the whole place operates like a 3 star hotel .Terrible service and highly overpriced. |If you want 5 star treatment then head to Gleneagles not here ….

In for a family dinner tonight. Service was appalling!! |Ordered drinks and food at the same time, food came before all the drinks. For 7 drinks, which was one round, it took the staff 3 attempts to bring the drinks to us. For the size of the hotel, they couldn't give me garden peas instead of mushy peas. There was no other alternative offered. We asked for vinegar twice, eventually had to go to the bar to get it. During our evening we had 4 rounds of drinks, not one was complete by the bar staff. We had to keep asking for parts of our order. Restaurant wasn't busy but the bar ran out of Guinness glasses. Our Guinness was served in an IPA glass!! For a 5 star hotel, the staff need better training. Food was good, service spoiled it.

Exceptional location at the loch. Big beautiful estate with a lot of services and activities.|Our room was spacious, very nice and clean. We’ve had a room without loch view but looking out on trees.|Dinner on Saturday evening was a bit disappointing. The restaurant was fully booked, was very noisy and the young team of waiters was clearly not up to it, missing the management coordination.|We had a nice dinner on Sunday evening.

Stunning location – and that’s where the positives end. For £550 a night, what we experienced was chaos: undertrained staff, two room changes (incl. broken toilet), a 2.5h wait for luggage, a check-out bill double the agreed price, and a system so broken that you couldn’t even charge drinks to your room. Service was not five-star – it was Travelodge at luxury prices. Avoid.

Starting with the good, these aspects of our 2-night stay met our expectations of a 5 star hotel:|- Valent and resort staff were all extremely friendly|- Cameron Grill - our dinners and breakfasts were very good; Brendan was excellent|- Location - it's hard to give the resort credit for this since it pre-dates Cameron House|- We received an expected room upgrade||The following items fell way short of a 5 star hotel:|The resort|- Lack of response from concierge prior to arrival. I asked 2x for assistance with a hike we were planning. No reply - we managed on our own. |- Check-in. The first thing we saw was a sign asking for patience with staff since they had deployed a new Point-of-Sale (POS) system. Really? Shouldn't you have completely tested the system prior to deploying? Asking the customer for their patience is the exact opposite of how reception should be presenting themselves.|- We were given wrong directions to our room by reception|- Our bags were delivered to the wrong room (our original, non-upgraded room). I worked with a valent to track them down. |- POS not connected. At the Grill, we were asked if we were staying at the hotel even though we had a reservation made weeks before. I had to go back to our room to retrieve my credit card since we couldn't sign our bill to the room. During our stay were were asked at every meal whether we had food allergies (which could have easily been recorded in a connected POS)|- Umbrellas. If you want to use a resort umbrella, you need to use your credit card to unlock one from a machine. If you don't return it in 72 hours, your card will be charged. Suggesting that your guests might be thieves is not good. |- Swimming pool. The massive pool, slide and hot tub area looked and sounded like what you would find on a 2-star cruise ship. And smelled like it as well - the overpowering chlorine odor permeated the hallway and also floated into the whiskey bar||The room|Overall, a nice, spacious suite with a fantastic view but extremely tired. Dinged plaster in multiple locations, dust on the wainscoting and wall molding, a ripped and damaged leather desk chair||- We expressly asked that there be no alcohol in the room on arrival. It was not removed and we were given drink coupons to the whiskey bar as a welcome gift|- Turndown service. When we called housekeeping for this, it took 20 rings to be transferred to the front desk who said they would "pass along my request" (the correct answer is "of course, we will be right there"). The service consisted of partially closing the curtains and turning off the lights. |- Pillows. Horrible, extremely hard foam|- Dishes were outside our door for 2 days. We had to call to get them removed. |- In-room phone had dirt and grime on the handset and mouthpiece. Simply disgusting. |- Our complimentary mini bar was never replenished even after 2 requests. A half-empty bedside water bottle was left even after our room was made up. |- No soap dish. We improvised with the paper lid of one of our drinking glasses. Housekeeping left the soggy mess there for our entire stay. ||We did speak with the GM on duty upon check-out about the above. She was very pleasant and not defensive and took notes. That is certainly helpful but does not detract from the fact that this is not a 5 star hotel. ||We won't be back - so please, Will Oakley (Owner of Cameron House) spare the canned reply asking me to contact your Hospitality Ambassador, Caroline Johnson. This is just another example of how you are asking the customer to help you rather than the other way around. Sad||-
