We stayed at arnvicar when visiting some family who live nearby. We were able to bring our dog which we appreciated. Enclosed garden at the rear and spectacular views at the front of the property. Access was easy via a key safe. The property is a little dated but perfectly adequate for our stay. A little dust noted here and there but overall we were not concerned with its cleanliness. It could do with some outdoor furniture to enjoy sitting outside on a nice day. It had two seats at the front of the property but no table or means of eating outside. |We had a walk to farm and fodder for one of their pizza nights which we enjoyed on a bright summer evening. We hired bikes in aberfoyle and enjoyed a cycle trail there. Also visited the rspb reserve nearby for a lovely walk in nature and along to the loch. We also visited Stirling castle which was really interesting and a great day out. The tour guide (no additional cost after entry) brought to life some historical facts about the castle. |I would return to arnvicar for its location.

If I could move in then I would! I love Yew Tree Cottage!||Yew Tree is a beautiful cottage near to the Lake of Menteith. ||We have stayed here two year’s running and we love the tranquility of the cottage. It’s rural enough to be quiet and private - yet handy for the local area, offering the best of both world’s.||The garden is beautiful - with the added bonus of a washing line. The lawn was luscious despite the hot weather we had been having. ||There is a separate utility room which houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. Ideal for walkers and families. ||Yew Tree has seen some modernisation since our last visit and this just make it more special.|There is a real fire in the lounge which is all set to use, coal and wood to burn is provided. ||Bedrooms are more than adequate, one being a spacious double, the other a twin, which is again spacious. ||We have never had an issue with either the cleanliness or wildlife. That said the birds/pheasants/rabbits etc were in the garden! ||Both years we have been provided with a complimentary local providers basket containing local whiskey, Scottish tablet and local tea. Personally, I would love to see Crystals (of Scotland) shortbread here as it’s just the best! ||Local shops in Aberfoyle, lots of local attractions, restaurants etc are a short car ride away. Nick Nairns cookery school is just up the road. ||Bigger drives like Three Lochs drive are just beyond Aberfoyle. Loads of waking opportunities locally. ||Loch Lomand is about 30 mins away and the RSPB site is about 20 mins away… If you want to guarantee some Highland Coo’s then pop to the Woollen Mill at Kilmahog to see Honey and Hamish dubh. Lake Katrine is also handy for a water based view of the area. ||The Cardross estate, I understand, has recently opened some glamping pods - which could be an even more unique stay. ||The owners are committed to customer service and are always an absolute joy to deal with. ||If you are looking for high end London chic, this is not your place! If you are looking for a beautiful retreat in a fabulous area with a classic cottage vibe, then this is for you!

We have stayed in Arnvicar farmhouse a few times now and really enjoy it. The house is warm, cosy and a perfect setting for a relaxed family get away. It’s stocked with everything we need, and is very peaceful and quiet.

Nice enough but heating not turned on and can't be boosted so first day was freezing, owners bought coal as they didn't leave any blaming the previous renters for using it (maybe they should consider its a sign that they need to look at better heating options?) but the open fire is missing parts to control how the coal burns so most of the heat from the tiny amout of fuel they arrived with disappeared up the chimney rather than heating the house. Would definitely avoid in the winter

We stayed in Yew Tree Cottage for three nights and were extremely disappointed by both the quality and cleanliness of the accommodation. The cottage has decent sized rooms, a nice garden and is in a great location, but sadly let down by the tired and dated decor and poor cleanliness. The sitting room carpet was covered in dog hair and the chairs were very uncomfortable and grubby. The bath mat was threadbare with holes. A welcome basket was provided with a few small items, including a smashed up packet of shortbread. There were only 4 sets of cutlery and no dessert spoons. We were particularly unimpressed with the kitchen which had a variety of insect life, including black bugs in both the salt/ sugar pots and the drawers. Overall, in need of a decent make over, new carpets and furniture and a deep clean.

We stayed in Arnvicar Farmhouse. We were very disappointed as the decor was very dated and there was by far not enough cutlery. The location is pretty but we couldnt find any nice walks without having to drive which was a shame as it lays beautifully.
