"The Carny Inn" as it is called locally. Or "THE BIN", is another name the locals call it. The latter is a very good name to describe it. I moved to the area in March 2024 and as you do, I thought I should check out the local eateries. ||||How I was foolish to try here.||||There are many local places that are genuinely very good, but this place, "The Carnforth Hotel" as I knew it, is not one.||||I went in on my own one Thursday evening, thinking I would have a pint or 2 and maybe some food. I had 2 beers, I was quickly put off the food, not that it seemed they were even serving. I had my first beer, it was ok, then I ordered my second and it was a completely different price to the first one. Same beer. The woman makes it up.||||I believe she is the owner, a lady one would not mess with. As the local untidy and unclean rabble came in, she knew them all. She appeared to keep them in check - for a while before 2 of the heavily aged mid 30s came in and began grappling. Why on a Thursday do these toothless and mannerless folk think they should fight.||||Anyway, I walked off to get some takeaway food, I had seen enough and if I'm honest, my stomach was feeling pretty sour after those 2 pints - but I will hesitate to say they were dodgy beers - very dodgy pricing for sure though.||||After I had collected my takeaway, I walked past THE BIN and it appeared it had suddenly turned into a nightclub. Loud thumping music - terrible may I add - and lots more grotty youths outside wearing red football kit and muddy knees. Some outfit for a night out I thought. The 2 lads who had been scrapping, 1 was still there outside, talking to more tattooed and unclean locals.||||I continued and walked past, I will never consider going in again. The smashed glass around the front door should tell you all you need to know.

I was going to book a room here this evening, I chose against this due to the rude lady shouting at us in the car park, telling us not to be parking our van here overnight. If this lady had spoke to us in such an appealing manner she would have found out we planned on eating and staying the night.

We had driven down from Scotland after calling ahead to check availability. We pulled up in the car park. Took 3 steps out of the van to be met by a woman with coloufull hair. One bull terrier and another dog.
Very abruptly told me it was a private car park and I couldn't park there. She told me this several times. I thank her for letting making us aware of what was clearly written on a sign.
She told us we couldn't park there over night. In what felt like a threat. I have had better hospitality in a potraloo at Glastonbury lol.

We went inside for a look and decided that we were not brave enough to stay there.
It was a very tired and dirty looking bar and restaurant area. Thi kitchen was also closed and they were not serving food.
Don't waste your time looking at this place.

Well, what started as a pleasant enough day kinda turned ugly. They have a pool table in the bar under the hotel, i do like to have a game of pool. However as the evening progressed i started to realise i was in a very local pub and felt very outcast in its atmosphere. Cheap enough but not the safest place to hang out.

Popped in for lunch and a pint on Wed. Quaint, old fashioned pub. |We were advised of the specials board and that main meals were £6.50 on Wed, puds were £2. Top of the board, Hotpot and red cabbage so ordered two and a cherry pie.|Hot pot arrived, served with bread and butter, red cabbage and beetroot. Steaming hot, very tasty and filling. Obviously home made. Lovely cherry pie to follow.|Staff were friendly and informative especially the cook.|Re prev reviews, carpet was worn in a small area but not tacky. Restaurant was clean. Decorations were old fashioned. People and staff friendly. |We’ll be back.

A local pub for local people and visiting labourers, known by locals as the Star Wars bar. If you don't know why, you may find out.😬
It can, however, be a source of raucous,late night, boozy fun.

Had a lovely meal, here. Staff were great. Very helpful. Food was filling and well prepared at a very reasonable price.

Don't bother. Terribly run down
Staff didn't even know if the restaurant would be open due to Staff shortage! Just what I wanted to hear after a 4hr ride. It just needs to close and stop taking good money. 1star
