Carson's Tea House - Crowborough

After a recommendation from a friend I decided to try Carson’s out as a birthday breakfast treat.

I found it to be a very enjoyable, service was excellent, very clean and warm (on a snowy January morning).

Lovely ambience with period music playing, that I’ve been whistling all day.

Only thing to knock about the breakfast, which is personal preference, hash brown could have been crispier and cook the bacon a bit longer also, but I’ll ask next time, and there will be a next time!

Coffee was also extremely good.

Came for a very enjoyable lunch with my husband yesterday. The Carson’s Winter Ploughman’s board was amazing, huge and excellent value for money, great coffee and environment too.

This was my first experience at Carson’s Tea House and was eager to try the breakfast as reviews had been very good. We ordered our drinks and was asked if we were ready to order food. We asked if we could have 5mins more to decide what we wanted, but this obviously didn't please the waitress, as she rolled her eyes, tutted and walked off. My friend thought she had offended the waitress but I reassured she hadn’t. After looking through the menu, a different young waitress came along and took our order. We had to wait a little while for our food to arrive but it didn’t matter as we were busy having a catch up. When it did arrive we weren’t disappointed. It was very nicely presented and was very tasty. When we finished we ordered some more drinks which promptly arrived. After about 2mins the older waitress came along leaned across the middle of our table to put a reserved sign on it for 12.30 which made us feel that we had outstayed our welcome and it was time to move on. bearing in mind it was only 11.30am!

We stopped for coffee and cake whilst passing through. The staff were really friendly and the cake choice was really good. In fact it was difficult to choose what to have. Prices were reasonable. We sat outside and watched the world go by.

A wonderful first experience at this vintage tea room situated in the heart of Crowborough’s town centre. The staff and the manger were very friendly and welcoming upon arrival and we were quickly seated despite it being busy over the lunch time period. The menu has something for everyone ranging from sandwiches, jacket potatoes, a very generous ploughman’s for one and afternoon tea choices too! The food was very well presented when it arrived and equally delicious! The afternoon tea’s we spotted at other tables looked divine also so we will definitely be back again to try that for ourselves. Thank you for a delightful first experience and we are looking forward to bringing family and recommending friends here in the future.

I popped into Carsons today for the first time on the off chance that they served breakfast later than normal, and was glad that I did. I was greated at the door by a friendly gentleman that showed me to my seat, I had a lovely full English breakfast (the round of bubble and squeak was a welcome addition!) and a pot of their Sussex royal tea. The atmosphere was buzzy , the staff super friendly and helpful. I am actually in love with their fancy tea service! Superb. Have a lovely Christmas to all at Carsons and thanks 🙂

One of the best tea houses I've been to and definitely the best around the local area.

Delicious teas & cakes and the tea house decor & atmosphere is idyllic! Service was outstanding. Highly recommend and cannot wait for our own repeat visits!

As a birthday treat I was recommended this teahouse as a place I would love.
I did love it! I loved how it reflected the classic tea room with beautiful decor and the additional nice touch of Carson’s portrait from Downton Abbey behind the counter. 😊. Big fan.
Loved the breakfast on the delicate crockery and the vintage style vases and sugar pot. Will definitely come again for afternoon tea and bring friends!
