We have literally stayed at dozens of B&Bs all over the UK and other parts of the world for many years (long before there was TripAdvisor), and Castle Farm is our all-time favorite! We stay there every time we visit the UK. It is an old, fortified, moated manor house (the moat is not filled now) and the property is listed in the Doomesday survey! Today it is a working farm, run by a tenant farmer who has sheep, cattle and crops to take care of. He is at least the second generation of his family to farm this place under this tenancy...we stayed there when his father was the tenant, too. It is an incedible place...if you love history you will love this place...the house and buildings...including the old kitchen, 'jail', servants' quarters, etc. surround the old cobbled stone courtyard... now the parking area. You enter via a draw bridge which is now 'permanently' open. We were there this last visit at 'lambing time'...what an experience!...The little daughter took us out to the barn to see the newborn lambs after breakfast...they were just minutes old. The young farmer was looking pretty tired...I think he had been up most of the night delivering lambs! The house is fabulous...beautiful views out across the farm land: true 'pastoral' beauty. The breakfast is excellent, the rooms are large and comfortable. The family is a real source of information and very friendly. Castle Farm is the perfect place to stay to explore Shropshire, and a history lover's and photographers dream!

We have stayed here several times over the years during our travels to the UK. This place keeps 'calling us back'...it has history like no other place we have stayed, and also a very warm, friendly family who live and work this beautiful farm. A stay here gives one an appreciation of the work involved in a farm...and the skill and love it takes to do that work. We truly admire this family, and we enjoy staying here and visiting with them. This beautiful of 'castle' is warm, comfortable and full of very happy memories!

I was planning a trip to the area with some friends to relive a holiday we had shared 50 years ago! I spotted Castle Farm B & B on the web and phoned to check availability. Ed took the call and was most helpful so I booked.||They have two family rooms one en-suite. The rooms a re large and the beds quite comfortable. We were well looked after, breakfasts were great with fresh eggs from their farm and freshly gathered field mushrooms.||Its a working farm and we arrived in the middle of the corn harvest which was interesting||The farm itself is part of what was a 14th Century moated castle. Ed and Sal have managed to gather a lot of the history of the site which is really interesting. The whole site is crying out for a major sympathetic restoration. But that would take a lot of investment and not something tenant farmers could be expected to do.||Would happily return.

What an amazing Bed and Breakfast, if you are interested in history and old buildings this is the place to stay. We were warmly greeted by Sally and her family, excellent sized room with everything you needed and a good breakfast.||It is a working farm with historical buildings and there are books and articles to read about the farms history and in such a beautiful part of the country.||A definite must if you want a change from chain hotels, we would definitely revisit if we are in Shropshire again.

We stayed here while on a cycling trip, having been let down by the hotel we had originally booked. They found us Castle Farm as a replacement,a glorious old place, the sort that we both love to visit, absolutely oozing charm, hospitality and history. This was definitely a far better place to stay.Lovely people, lovely room, lovely location. So glad we were able to stay here, wish it could have been for longer.

It's not every night you get to stay in a 13th century farm house with a great family and a really well cooked breakfast. Forget the posh expensive hotels in Ludlow come and stay here for a real experience and a delicious "farmer's breakfast" the next morning. All this set in fantastic countryside.||Sally was an excellent host and even books taxis and near by pubs for you (as mobile phone reception is very patchy - but I guess a phone signal wasn't important 700 years ago). The 3 foot thick walls might also have something to do with it.||Come and meet the family and have a great time.

Sally was an amazing host and nothing was too much trouble. We were a group of 6 who took over the guest house for a day while prepping for / recovering from a friend's wedding that was held nearby in Wistanstow. The farm buildings are stunning and the house is very homely, we loved waking up to the sounds of animals in the fields right outside the bedroom window.
