We have just returned from Chilston Park Hotel for a Twixmas two day break and I really must agree with all the reviews that applaud the hotel staff. Nothing, nothing, was too much for them! We asked for a fridge in our room- we got it. We asked for wellies- we got them. We wanted extra food from the menu- no problem. |Thank you Matthew and your team in the dining room …. dinner was super and beautifully presented. The platter of home made breads were divine! Oh, and the chocolate mousse cake was enough for four and heaven on a plate. Compliments to the chef as the dining for our two nights was really wonderful. I would definitely recommend staying for dinner and not bothering stepping out to discover anywhere else. |Rooms were quirky and very spacious in the main house. We enjoyed an executive room with a four poster bed, huge bathroom and it was definitely worth paying a little extra. ||I will definitely recommend Handpicked Hotels to stay at although this hotel doesn’t have the spa or swimming pool that some of them have. However, we had a trip to Leeds Castle and enjoyed a couple of local walks ending up in cosy local pubs… very chillaxing over the Christmas break! ||Thank you all at Chilston Park Hotel , we had the perfect break!

Decided to take the family for a Christmas package at this hotel as it was a ‘special’ birthday. I’m so glad I chose here after researching several hotels because it was totally amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and every request was executed with speed and politeness. The food was delicious and we were impressed that everything went exactly to plan considering the amount of people staying over the festive period. You have an amazing team at Chilston! All family members said they had a magical time. Firework display was well received and the young lady doing the falconry display was very knowledgeable and interesting. It definitely won’t be our last visit. Well done to all the staff.

I spent Christmas Day at Chilston Park, and it was a rather pleasant experience. The atmosphere was festive, with amazing decorations that created a welcoming environment and even a welcome from the General Manager! ||||The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal, Ella was fantastic as was Jack and the rest of the staff. The Christmas lunch menu offered was brilliant. I particularly enjoyed the roast turkey, which was well-cooked and paired nicely with traditional trimmings. There were also a good vegetarian option which please the wife which in turn I appreciated.||||Dessert was a highlight, the chocolate Bauble and the Christmas pudding with brandy sauce, which was a lovely way to end the meal.||||Overall, it was a lovely way to celebrate the day with family. I would highly recommend Chilston Park, first visit and we were impressed. We will be going back in January to try the Afternoon Tea and Dinner. Next on the list though is hide and fox.

This was my third visit here and second Christmas, the first had been prior to covid.||The setting is stunning as are the rooms. Although I had booked two rooms for a family visit our rooms were at the opposite ends of the hotel which took away part of the enjoyment from my point of view. As already mentioned the rooms were outstanding and well equipped.||The staff were exceptional and although at times appeared overstretched; went out of their way to be helpful and take care of any requests.||The meals however were extremely disappointing. The first evening, a black tie event, took forever for each course to be served in spite of selections being made prior to our arrival. Other than the soup we were all disappointed with the quality of the food.||However, Christmas Day lunch was even worse. Advertised as six course meal with wine pairings for each course the ‘wine pairing’ consisted of red or white with no attempt to pair. The delays experienced the first night were even worse: after being called in to dine it took around forty minutes for bread to be served and an hour between courses. This was compounded by the fact that another large party was also eating in a second large dining room which destroyed the atmosphere that a country hotel Christmas should have had. The other group were seated earlier but until then a chaotic atmosphere existed in the public areas. By the time our main course was served it was past 4pm. The sprouts were raw, the beans ultra ‘al dente’ and the red cabbage burnt. We were sorely disappointed, having expected a more gourmet experience and certainly not cafeteria quality.||Shame that my hope of ending a very difficult year with a luxurious break should have been such a letdown.

We booked for two nights over Christmas with the family and wasn’t sure what to expect but we were blown away with everything. The staff were so wonderful and the programme of events kept you well entertained and in the festive mood. ||The whole two nights felt indulgent. The food was delicious and plentiful and the drinks flowing. Well done Chilston Park, see you next year

Just returned home from a Christmas break at the Chilston Park Hotel. This is our 4th visit in the past year and our experience is always superb.||The Reynolds's room is fantastic, located in the mews section of the hotel and ideally placed for those of us with dogs (which usually for a hotel are treated as special guests).||We ate all our meals in the hotel and found the food to be fantastic and the service from Matt and his team exemplary.||The reason we keep returning to this hotel is the staff. As always they couldn't do enough for us and it's the extra touches that make the difference. Be it the welcome message and sweets in the room on arrival, every request (no matter how obscure) being actioned straight away or just the fact that the staff are efficient and friendly and know how to make returning guests feel special. ||We must mention one fabulous staff member who went above and beyond during our break. ||Dan on the front desk was outstanding! |He was polite, friendly , efficient with a (and I quote) " I can make that happen" attitude.||Once again we enjoyed it so much we have already booked our next 2 day stay in February. Can't wait to come back. Highly recommend, thank you.|| Sean & Charlie Barber

Unfortunately we only stayed for the one night. The staff were second to none, nothing was too much trouble, very chatty, excellent comfy rooms, and the food!!! Having spent many years in the catering industry, I like to think of myself of a bit of a connoisseur and I’m not easily ‘blown away’, dined at some of the best restaurants in the country and this dinner surpassed them. I really can’t remember a better meal, fine cuisine but all components were a perfect fit for the dishes and not just there to make the food sound as fancy as possible. Met the head chef and he insisted that the head chef at one of the chain’s sister hotels was even better than him! No way! Take a bow chefs at the Chilston.

A wonderful time staying here for the night. It was reasonably priced which meant the experience could go either way (good or bad) after reading the reviews I decided to book and very unusually the great reviews were right….the staff here absolutely make the place. The gentleman on checking couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. The standout here however is the bar/restaurant which although pricey is outstanding….many restaurants these days promise fine dining and forget that includes the service as well. Matt in the restaurant deserves a shout out of his own, his attention to detail while serving was impeccable. Service with style.
The grounds in the hotel are jaw dropping….our visit was winter with a howling gale outside (which did make the hotel feel more cosy) but during summer I’m guessing this hotel is absolutely beautiful with grounds to stroll around. Rooms are very nice if slightly dated….(that’s my only criticism) for me the rest of the hotel well and truly made up for this.
Oh and the fast WiFi worked everywhere….why do so many hotels drop this now vital ball?
I will stay here for business trips now too.
