Booked this hotel as attending an event in Bethnal Green double room £99. The reception area was grim dirty and tired. The man at reception was disinterested and I had to ask where my room was when the key was handed to me. The hall leading to the room was dark cleaning products and rubbish in a stair well. The room was damp smelling, the walls a radiator filthy where someone had obviously spilled fluid, the dirt on the radiator and window sills was terrible. The bathroom small shower had black mould in the corners. A positive was the headline was clean and fresh. The event I attended finished at 4am I left the hotel at 7 once the trains started as could not stay there. I felt robbed. Location was good but the grubby dirty room spoiled my night away. Would not advise staying there.

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to formally complain about my recent stay at CITY VIEW HOTEL LTD, located at 287 Cambridge Heath Rd, on the night of 03/07/24.

I booked a room for one night and paid £100 during the day. I was assured that the room would be ready for me when I finished work around midnight. However, upon arriving at the hotel and collecting my keys from the reception, I found the room in a deplorable state. It was dirty, smelly, and stained all over, making it feel uninhabitable. Despite the late hour and the few hours I had left before needing to return to work, I decided to inspect the bed, hoping it would be clean enough to use.

To my shock and horror, the bed was infested with bedbugs. At this point, I returned to the reception and demanded a refund, intending to leave immediately. The receptionist refused to issue a refund but offered me another room, supposedly free of bedbugs. Given the late hour, I reluctantly agreed to check the second room. While it was slightly larger, it was just as dirty, smelly, and unpleasant as the first. After a thorough inspection of the bed, I did not notice any bedbugs and decided to stay, albeit uncomfortably.

This experience was unacceptable, and I intend to report this matter to Health and Safety and Trading Standards. I strongly advise others to avoid this hotel at all costs.

Sincerely,
Adam Mackiewicz

You wouldn’t want to bring your missus here. ||I was at the Foo Fighters and just needed a bed for the night, walking distance from The London Stadium. ||The room was basically a single bed & a shower/basin/toilet, but no mirror!||On the plus side it was cheap as chips and funnily enough I would stay on my own there again.

One blob score is generous, it deserves zero! Absolute shocking ‘hotel’, not only was it nowhere near the chosen area from my search, but in all honesty my family tell me, it is simply the grottiest ‘hotel’ they have ever had the misfortune of checking into… Dirty, smelly, inhabited by rude staff, you were not even allowed to keep your room key….REALLY!!!!! My family felt very vulnerable, checked in, the room was grubby , shower was filthy, toilet was broken, they literally left within five minutes, and left in search of another hotel. How on earth this ‘hotel’ is on hotels.com is absolute beyond me, they should urgently visit and check it for themselves. No refund either which is simply unacceptable, I will not be using hotels.com ever again!!!

A rather nasty little hotel (and part of a chain of similar around the near east end run by the same people apparently).||The insect life in the bathroom is interesting and varied plus I got an opportunity to befriend a cockroach crawling along the side of the bed. His name was apparently Bartholomew.||||The room had a nice kippered aroma - I suspect the staff are told to smoke in them on rotation perhaps to mask out even more undesirable aromas ? The bedding was not dirty but smelled unusual. I also had a rather violent bout of some gastric illness a few days following my stay - which may or may not have been attributable to my soujourn here. There's a Travelodge just down the road - do yourself a favour !!

Had an overnight stay at City View for an event at The London Stadium in July.||||The night before our stay i decided to have a look at some reviews... and I thought to myself 'oh my giddy aunt' where am I staying?! However knowing it was for myself and mate (both in our 30s and just a place to kip for the evening) I thought we would make the most of it!||||After realising we where on the wrong tube line making our way to Wembley and not West Ham, we finally arrived at West Ham tube station from Kings Cross. The hotel was a 15 min walk from the station and pretty straight forward for me and my mate little Rico to find.||||We arrived and found the owners to be pleasant, no fuss, gave us a key and told us to enjoy our stay. Yesss its a bit oldy worldy, but upon opening our room, I was pleasantly surprised (especially after reading the reviews)! ||||This was a twin room. La Toilet was adequate and it was a private bathroom, lovely hot water and and a healthy bog flush.||||The room was minimal, but clean. Clean towels, clean bedding. Marvellous. Yes it was a basic room...but for one night only, it was our room!!! Double glazed windows, curtains and an oscillating fan which had not 1, not 2, not 3, but four speed settings!!! Tele and kettle provided should you fancy a cheeky brew and abit of Finders Keepers. And to our surprise upon opening the window.... a Shard view!! Yep, my mate Mehmet Scholl wasn't expecting that.||||We made our way to the Olympic Stadium which was around a 20 minute walk away, or 5 mins if you got a croggy. Newsagent and takeaways bang next door if you fancy a Curly Wurly or a slither of donar meat. ||||All in all this hotel is a great spot for a base to the Stadium, for a match or an event, with your mates... maybe not your Mrs. Although my mate is looking at returning with his fiance at some point to take her to Wings n Tings restaurant.||||For the price its a no frills place to get your head down.
